Another One Bites the Dust

March 1st, 2006 | by Dr J

Looks like Kenny Florian is also not going to be fighting this Saturday. The following story is taken from Sherdog.com.

Boston’s Kenny Florian (Pictures) will have to wait before making his UFC lightweight debut, as a back injury has forced him to withdraw from Saturday’s bout versus Sam Stout (Pictures), the UFC reports in its Web site.

Florian joins the man he fought in April 2005, Diego Sanchez (Pictures), as last-minute UFC 58 scratches. A small welterweight, Florian won two in a row at 170 since the Sanchez fight, stopping fellow The Ultimate Fighter competitor Alex Karalexis (Pictures) last August and submitting Kit Cope in November.

The UFC has not ruled out a replacement for Florian. A possible scenario could see Stout fight fellow Canadian John Allesio, who was left without an opponent when Sanchez fell off the card.

** Update **

UFC.tv is reporting that Spencer Fisher is now going to fight Sam Stout in place of Kenny Florian.

With Kenny Florian forced to pull out from UFC 58 due to a back injury, Spencer “The King” Fisher has stepped up to the plate to face Sam “Hands of Stone” Stout in a bout that is almost guaranteed to be action-packed on Saturday night’s card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Like Canada’s Stout, Iowa’s Fisher is one of the fight game’s rising stars, as evidenced by his two impressive UFC victories over Thiago Alves and Aaron Riley. And in “Hands of Stone”, Fisher will find someone more than willing to stand and trade with him, making this a must see contest for UFC fans.

If Fisher makes weight, he will own Stout.

I agree. I know you love K-Flo, but I would much rather see Fisher fight then Florian.

Yeah no doubt. This is a much better match up.
