Breaking News: Back Injury Forces Horn Off UFC 59
Sherdog.com is reporting that Jeremy Horn has pulled himself off the card of the upcoming UFC 59.
Scheduled to fight former 185-pound champion Evan Tanner (Pictures) on April 15 at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, Horn notified the UFC that an injured back, which he first hurt while weight training two days ago, was so bad that he would not be able to fight.
Sherdog.com seems to think that Ivan Salaverry may be Horn’s replacement to fight Evan Tanner. I’ve talked a lot recently about Ivan Salaverry and his status. I also reported that even though the IFL has Salaverry listed as a team member in their April 29th event, Salaverry has stated that he has not signed a contract yet. This leaves him open as a free agent and able to sign with the UFC.
Most people assumed that the winner of the Horn vs. Tanner fight would face off against Nathan Marquardt for the right to be the next to take a title shot against Middleweight champion Rich Franklin. I for one think Salaverry would be a great matchup for Franklin, and would love to see him have this opportunity.
