Pride FC has signed Vitor Belfort to fight on their July 1 event in Japan against Yoshiki Takahashi.
I hope this is suprising to everyone else and not just me. Vitor hasn’t exactly been “The Phenom” recently like he has been in the past. Belfort has lost four of his last five fights, with the only win coming against Anthony Rea in a Cage Rage event last December. Granted, losses were to Tito Ortiz, Randy Courture, and two against Alistair Overeem, but Vitor definately doesn’t seem like the same guy we saw prior to 2005.
Who knows, maybe Japan is the wake-up call that Vitor needs, and this move to Pride will revitalize his career. I, for one, am not going to hold my breath.
