The UFC released their video on-demand service about a month ago, providing a way for UFC fans to download prior fights for $1.99 per fight, or have unlimited downloads for a monthly subscription fee. The UFC is now taking their video service one step further and will allow viewers to stream UFC 61: Bitter Rivals live online.
This really is a great feature and will allow fans who either live outside of North America or who do not have PPV access to watch a live UFC event. The price will be $39.95 US, which is the same price charged by cable providers to watch the event on Pay-Per-View cable. Both a high and low resolution feed will be provided, and according to the website, viewers will “have until midnight PST, Sunday July 9th to finish watching the event” if they are interrupted during playback of the live event.
I think this is a great feature the UFC is offering. I don’t know how many people will actually watch a full live event on sitting at their computer, but having the option to is nice. There has to be a good portion of MMA fans who simply do not have access to watch live events, and now the UFC has provided a way. There are some limitations, however; you must use Internet Explorer as your web browser, and you must have ActiveX controls enabled. Both of these are big no-no’s in my book, but many people still do use IE. There really is no reason that the UFC cannot provide the feed to non-IE viewers, as many other sites do, but that is the UFC’s choice.
Personally, I get all my PPV events through my cable company so I won’t be paying for an online stream, but I’d be interested to hear from any of you if you do buy the online feed. How is the quality? Did you have any problems with the stream?

yeah the live feed sucked *****. i might as well have gotten a picture album of the event. the audio streamed through fine, so i guess i got a picture album with audio commentary of the event. i’m gonna try and get my money back because it was such ********. i’m on windows player 10 and it said the feed’s gotta come from version 9 or better to be any good, so maybe ufc is running their feed in on a crappier version (not sure if this is even true), but what i do know is that i wasted 40 bucks for some pictures.
anybody else have the same problems or know how to fix this? i have 3 more hours to watch it and i don’t plan on doing so without a solution.
email me if you think you can help

My husband and I live in a rural area and our cable company doesn’t offer PPV so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to watch UFC 61 on our pc. What a crock of crap! We, like Jon, also got a single frame every 5 seconds or so. When we tried to go back after the fight and view it (as the advertisement indicates) we got NOTHING!
We had all the requirements, huge computer, DSL service, correct media player version….and I was apprehensive because there was no way to test to see if the stream would play correctly. It was all hype and I’m curious to know how many people actually paid for the BS and how many were deprived of watching the fights.
Total waste of $40.00 and I emailed my complaint in but expect no reply. We remain huge fans of UFC/Pride but will NEVER purchase PPV via the internet again.
I’d love to know if any other disappointed customer/fan gets satisfaction and how they did it.
I feel badly that both of you had problems with the live stream. Personally I buy the PPV’s on TV and haven’t needed to stream the live feed. I have bought a few single fights from the UFC site, but they are downloaded as a whole fight, not streamed.
Unfortunately, I have a feeling that if you call and complain, they will most likely blame it on your hardware or internet connection. I’m sure both of you have high-speed connections with good PC’s, but that will be the easiest excuse for them to use.
I’d also like to hear if anyone had a good experience with the live feeds?
I paid(with my mastercard) for a fight, but I cannot download it at all; their Video on Demand is a total scam; I paid them for something I cannot get; this is simpy called theft. The company who stands behind all this scam is Zuffa LLC which owns UFC
I’ve actually ordered the PPV through the website several times. It seemed to run OK, for me, I did drop down from the High Res mode to the regular mode, though.
I currently own the domain name ufcplayback.com and think your company or someone you know may be interested in acquiring this great domain name. Just think of the revenue you could create from this name.
