- UFC: Ultimate Knockouts 4 - For those of you who have DirectTV satellite service and can’t get the WFA PPV Saturday night, Spike TV will be showing the new UFC: Ultimate Knockouts 4 video at 10pm. It looks like the UFC is playing the new show at the same time as the WFA PPV to try and draw viewers from a new “rival” promotion. For my fellow MMA fans with dual-tuner DVR’s, we can watch and tape both at the same time.
- The Zuffa Myth - Whaledog.com has been very vocal for a long time about the blatant lies and misleading nature of Zuffa LLC, and how they portray their “saving” of the UFC. Well, the New Jersey Athletic Control Board has finally taken up the fight as well and written to several “mainstream” journalists to correct the misleadings of the UFC. For those of you who have never visited Whaledog.com, it is a great MMA site written by a former MMA fighter manager.
WEC: The Hitman - I posted earlier today how Wes Simms was originally going to step up in Kimo’s place to fight Bas Rutten in the WFA, but had to back out due to his committment with the WEC: The Hitman event on July 28. The WEC is holding this charity event in memory of Ryan “The Hitman” Bennett, and I applaud Wes’s decision to honor his committment to the WEC show. This event will be available for free to those who have HDNet, and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Ryan Bennett’s wife and children. Bennett was a well respected MMA pioneer and helped to promote the sport for many years.
- Tim Sylvia on ESPN.com - In the past week, ESPN has had Matt Hughes, Georges St. Pierre, Dana White, and Bas Rutten on their ESPNews channel. Well, today UFC Heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia will take part in a live chat on ESPN.com today at 3pm EST.
