Nick Diaz at UFC 62

August 22nd, 2006 | by Dr J

Nick DiazIt appears that yet another fighter has dropped off this Saturday’s UFC 62 card. Thiago Alves, who fights with the American Top Team, has dropped out of his fight against Josh Neer due to an illness.

Sherdog.com editor, Josh Gross is reporting that the UFC initially offered the fight to Jake Shields, but Shields didn’t think he could drop the 20 pounds needed to make Middleweight by Friday. In turn, the UFC offered the fight to Nick Diaz.

Nick Diaz has lost his last three fights in the UFC to Diego Sanchez, Joe Riggs, and Sean Sherk. Since then he has only fought once in Stockton, CA, with a decision victory over Ray Steinbeiss. On August 12, Diaz was supposed to fight John Alessio in Stockton, but the fight never happened as Diaz never weighed in and the promoters didn’t even fill in the fans or media until minutes before the event.

I like Diaz, I’m glad to see him fight, but I know there are plenty of you who dont.

Gatties is going to love this!

Haha! I love Nick Diaz, he’s such a punk. That boy has some serious anger issues.

As far as I can tell, it should be the swing bout.

Sure, he’s got an attitude problem, but he puts on a great show. He’s one of the few UFC contenders with a very well-rounded game, IMO.

Plus, he threw a shoe at Sanchez, that will always score you points in my book.
