The International Fight League has announced two new Superfight matchups for their World Team Championship semifinals this November. The semifinals will feature Bas Rutten’s Anacondas vs. Matt Lindland’s Wolfpack, and Pat Miletich’s Silverbacks vs. Carlos Newton’s Dragons.
Following the team events, the two superfights will feature Daniel Gracie vs. Allan Goes and Mark Kerr vs. Mike Whitehead.
“We are very pleased to be able to pair these MMA veterans as a highlight to what will be a very special semifinal evening,” IFL Co-founder and Commissioner Kurt Otto said. “These four great athletes represent many of the disciplines that make up mixed martial arts, and seeing them together on the same card will be a treat for all in attendance.”
Will Mark Kerr truly fight this time? Kerr hasn’t fought since February of 2004 and was scheduled to fight Wes Sims earlier this year, but pulled out of the fight literally minutes before it began. However, Kerr was a past UFC and PrideFC champion, and I would like to see him fight again. Mike Whitehead is most known from his appearance on TUF 2, and is 8-1 in his last 9 fights. Both Danial Gracie and Allan Goes have already fought in the IFL. Gracie defeated Wes Sims in a superfight last June, and Goes defeated Devin Cole this past month as a member of the Tiger Sharks.
