I can’t imagine that happening. I don’t quite understand why the PPV could not be set up.

HBO needs to get their mind right, nobody cares about de la hoya vs mayweather, they need to recognize that mma is the future and get on the band wagon.

Whether its on Spike, HBO or PPV, I just hope its not tape delayed. I would atleast have the option to watch it live.

sh*it i hope it goes on either hbo or spike i have hbo and spike so it would be better than spending forty bucks and i also agree that boxing is a sport of the past mma is the future plus its much more entertaining

alright i want to make a patition to mmaweekly and say that dan henderson needs to be 1 on the 185 pound weight limit its killing me seeing linland number one if not 1 at least higher than 5 does any one else agree with me

I absolutely 100% agree with you Richard. I actually can’t wait for Fedor to demolish Lindland.

My question is….doesn’t a PPV event bring in a much larger amount of revenue than an HBO broadcast? especially for this type of fight card? Or is it just that HBO is a guaranteed contract due to it’s current paying subscribers and overall reach to a larger demographic of viewers? if someone could elaborate, much appreciated.

ive never been a lindland fan, i dont know how anyone thinks he has a chance to win.. but the way this year has been going! nothing would surprise me. Like if fedor came in with a huge pot belly smoking a cigar..

Not a big Lindland fan either. Never impressed me in the UFC, Fedor should take care of him nicely, unless Lindland hangs on to him for dear life like usual.

The only way Dana will get Fedor to fight in an UFC fight is to hold it in Russia. Fedor reserves to fight outside his contract while in Russia.

Didn’t mean to confuse anything, I was saying that when Lindland was in the UFC back in the days, I was not impressed by him. Of course, that was several years ago and the word is that he has improved his BJJ a lot, but I still think he should not be ranked anywhere near that high in the world.

BTW, speaking of UFC 70 and Matt Lindland…

This guy that Arlovski is fighting (Fabricio Werdum) is no joke. He has fought and beaten some of the current top fighters in Pride (”little” Emilanenko, Overeem, Nogueira, and Lindland). I wasn’t even paying enough attention to that fight until I realized he’s yet another Pride guy that was just brought in w/o much publicity.
I’m alos looking forward to seeing Machida again.

i know this is totally off topic but i had to share this with everyone. last night my brother-in-law and i went to the school of hardknocks (team tompkin gym) to see some muay thai fights. i cost $15 and we got to see about 12 or so fights. is cool as hell there is some kids comming up right now that have some serious talent. there was a bunch of fighter from another gym called simai muay thai (sorry if i got it wrong i’m not 100% sure of the name)there from toronto and damn those boys can go. it was fun to go and watch a bunch of fight in a little tiny gym with way to many people packed in there and big stars like mark hominick and sam stout reffing matches and tompkins announcing the fights. cool stuff man!!!!

yes that is true, Cro Cop and Werdum trained a lot together…Fabricio
would exchange his knowledge of BJJ and Crop Cop would teach him striking and kickboxing.

Speaking of Mark Hominick, whatever happened to that guy? he is a top class kickboxer. The UFC should bring him back, now is the perfect time since he is such a skilled striker and the sport is being dominated by so many wrestlers. I saw his win over Jorge Gurgel (the guy who trains Rich Franklin) and Jorge was desperately trying to take Mark down and could not. The crowd got upset and I guess the UFC did too, but I prefer to watch striking over BJJ or G&P anyday. Shows how much things have changed even in the lst year or so.

Hominick beat Yves Edwards too btw… I would love to see him take his 2-0 UFC record against Kenny Florian.

ok so i just watched this guy fabricio fight alexander e. and he choked him out, is he a submission specialist or is he a striker because he took alexander down and eventually got that choke.so should arlovski be worried, im about to watch the one when he fought overeem.

Fabrico is a submission fighter but he cam strike also. BJJ is his speciality though.

Well i just got done watching the fights of werdum he looks pretty good actually, but i like arlovski i think he is cool, and i want to see him rise to the top again and hopefully get to prove himself by fighting the top fighters and becoming one of the best, i hope it is a good fight, does arlovski have good submission defense?

Arlovski originally started as a subbmision fighter and learned to strike. No one is counting the Pitbull out, this fight could go either way. Crocop will be fighting Couture for the belt next if he gets by Gonzaga. I could see the UFC setting up a Crocop vs Arlovski fight when Mirko is the champ. He will have to beat Fabrico in order to be the next contender though.

I was saying that Werdum is another one of these Pride guys making his UFC debut “under the radar”, unlike Rampage,Heath Herring, and Mirko. Werdum trained with Cro Cop…teaching him BJJ while in exchange, Mirko taught him to strike. As you now know, Werdum has beaten some big-time names in Pride…I don’t feel like re-writing them over again…but you should know who they are. Anyways, it will be a very interesting fight.

Well since you broke it down for me, this should be an interesting fight. See me, im an old fashioned SPARTA!!!!!!! type of guy so naturally i would like to see them throw down in the middle of the ring, but dont get me wrong the fine beauty of laying on your back and like a sweet science slipping that armbar into affect gets me excited to but i like arlovski so i would hope he wins mainly since he fell off a little, and when he lost to that guy sylvia, but werdum looks good to so lets hope this is a good one

oh yea, that fedor/lindland fight is that gonna be on another pride card or is that on like a different fight league or something?
