Some of you may have heard TUF 3 competitor Matt Hamill’s quote about being ready to fight Michael Bisping after he defeated Rex Hollman at UFC 68. For those that didn’t, here is the specific quote:
I think I’m ready for I guess Mike Bisping from England. We are going to find out who’s going be the TUF 3 champion. It’s not over yet.
Well, today TUF 3 Light Heavyweight winner Michael Bisping responded, and its rather funny if you ask me.
You may have heard that a certain TUF 3 dropout was calling me out last week.
To be honest, I really didn’t want to respond because that plays right into his hands by whipping up interest in a fight that I believe is a big step backwards for me.
However, at the same time I don’t want anyone thinking I was afraid of this guy, either.
The fighter in question — I forget his name — is a good wrestler but has no BJJ and couldn’t strike a match. He’s the one who produced the most embarrassingly amateurish performance of the entire season, where even though he won he couldn’t continue in the competition as he was so bashed up.
Do you know who I’m on about? I can picture his face but still can’t remember his name but I remember personally sending this novice to the hospital with a busted arm and my mate Kendall Grove — a middleweight — knocked him silly with a high kick in sparring.
I also recall that he went to the hospital three times during TUF 3 and each time came back to the TUF house with his tail between his legs. He spent more time in bandages than King Tut.
But, now, he’s shouting my name in an obvious attempt to leap frog from his preliminary bout status to genuine PPV level.
Sorry, pal, I won the TUF 3 three-year contract, thank you very much, so I don’t need a part time job running your PR office on the side.
I’ve got a long way to go and a lot to prove in the UFC but — in terms of what I did during my TUF 3 run — I don’t think I’m being big-headed when I say my run to the TUF 3 title was pretty damn conclusive.
I scored three consecutive knockouts without a scratch on me while this guy calling me out had one fight that looked like two drunks scrapping outside a kebab shop on a Friday night.
For him to claim I’ve yet to prove I’m the real TUF 3 winner is pathetic.
I don’t think Hamill is even close to being ready to fight Bisping, and after seeing Hamill’s fight against Rex Holman its pretty obvious that he can’t fight anyone who has halfway decent takedown defense and even the slightest jab.

Bisping would destroy Hamill. How is it that lower level fighters are trying to make their own matchups? Like haow Kos calls out Diego and gets the fight. These guys need to work their way through the ranks like everyone else. I’m not a big fan of the wrestling lay and pray artists like O’Brien and Hamill anyway.
Bisping is on the mark. Mr. Hamill frankly stinks, he stunk in Tuf3 and showed himself to be a wimp. My wife and I had a hard time watching the guy compete, and then garner “sympathy” due to injury from every training session. He wanted to play hard with his partners, but when they played back he acted like a victim. If he has toughened up, good, let him fight a novus competitor first, he doesn’t by any means deserve to fight someone of Bisping’s calibur.
hamil is a great wrestler but he does lay on his opponnents a lot and he thinks he can strike and me i dont really like bisbing either but the man can strike so if this match does happen i see a ko for bisbing
Can’t blame Matt for trying…
What else does he have going?
Bisping would embarrass Hamill. He is one of my top 5 favorite fighters. Besides his natural skills, the guy is absolutely hilarious. I think he is going to make a big splash in the LHW division. He is a jack of all trades and is another one of these “evolved” fighters that can do just about everything.
The only thing Hamill has going for him is his popularity from being handicapped. At the last weigh-in, he got the loudest applause from the crowd. When he goes through a devastating KO, he will probably quit the sport
but guys i think he deserves a chance against bisbing to determine the real winner of his season and for bisbing to make a ******* speach instead of just saying anytime anywhere just shows what kind of fighter he is
@***
No he does NOT deserve anything! YOU MUST EARN IT!
the reason i say he deserves it cuz that match would have happened on that show and matt has a little chance even though its small but he has a chance but for bisbing to try to act like hes some big sh*it give me a break elvis sinosic give me a break
Hamil does not deserve this fight. This is a step back for Bisping at this time. Honestly, as yourself what does Bisping have to gain from this fight happening?…nothing. He already has a guaranteed contract, this would be a stupid fight for him to take right now. I’m a big fan of both fighters. I like Matt for the sheer natural ability he posses he reminds me of a young Matt Hughes. I like Bisping because he talks the talk and he walks the walk. He talks serious **** (he’s funny aswell when he does)..but you better believe he backs it up.
he talks a lot but look at sanchez this fight with koscheck is a step backwards but how are u going to let someone call u out if ur a badazz sanchez aint going to let koscheck sit there and talk hes a fighter and to me bisbing is making excuses if he loves to fight then fight with ur fists not excuses on how ur to good to fight someone
There’s too many unearned fights allready. If they start allowing anybody to call out anybody, then quinton deserves a shot at Fedor!
THEY MUST BE REQUIRED TO EARN IT!
hillbilly
tell me how has elvis sinosic earned his right to fight and in my opinion right now matt hamil has a better record than him
There’s no shortage of LHW anymore. I would have much rathered seeing Bisping fight a better fighter right now than Elvis. Bisping/Rashad Evans could work…or Bisping/Jardine…or even Bisping/Forrest. If they were too worried about Bispings chance against any of those guys, they should have let him fight Machida instead of Forrest. Machida is still a relative newcomer to the UFC and also trying to make a name for himself, just like Bisping. Also, Machida has beaten some top guys that I have mentioned before (KO Rich Franklin) and beat up on “The American Psycho” real bad.
I’m a big Matt Hamil fan, but I didn’t get to see his last match. Where did you guys see it?
It would be a step up. Tito Ortiz will bring him up slowly and that could be why Hamil said “he’s guesses” he’ll fight Bisbing. Tito won’t let that happen. Ortiz knows the buisness of MMA and he knows that one loss can drop you out of the UFC picture. He won’t let Hamil take the fight until he’s ready.
Fight won’t happen anytime soon.
hey brian go to dailymotion.com type in ufc 68 and it will come up
Well i do agree i dont think matt hamill is ready……yet, but i do think this guy has a promising future as a ufc star. Yea he was banged up half of the time on the tuff series, but..ok… he was a wrestler and his body adapted to hard contact wrestling-wise, i mean it would take a persons body a while to get used to knees and elboes, and leg kicks, and punches with fist. I mean it’s like you lifting weights for the first time after taking some time off, Your body is going to be sore for a couple of weeks. Its the same thing. And hamill was going in there sparring and fighting with fighters that have that experience and are used to the body punishment ect. So for Bisbing to reply with those statements about being hurt was kind of a low blow, but he is a charismatic and funny character so it doesnt shock me that he said it, i think it was kinda messed up, but Bisbing IS paper view material and Hamill is still learning, but if Hamill steps up his striking a bit more and his striking defense, and diversify his stand up, this will be a awsome fight!!!!!!!!! Bisbing is already there so i would wait if i was hamill and just become a gym rat and work on your weakneses. His fights were a little sloppy, but that is how all fighters are when they first start fighting, I mean you can tell by watching a bisbing, or a st pierre, but hamill has a way to go but once he gets there he will be a beast at his weight, and a contender to watch out for
Can’t defend Elvis…….sorry.
But Matt is not ready……period!
Good point about Tito coaching Matt.
BTW, Elvis was just listed on Sherdog as one of the 9 fighters that needs to hang it up!
“Tank†Abbott
Dan Severn
Elvis Sinosic
Mark Coleman
Kevin Randleman
Wesley “Cabbage†Correira
Frank Mir
Mark Kerr
Shannon Ritch
I’d like to add Ken Shamrock & Royce Gracie
I have seen several fighters have to bow out or get forced out of the TUF competition over the years due to injury at midway. Matt is one of the unfortunate guys who got banged up and had to step out. What makes him different from the others int he regard that he should get to come back and fight the winner of the competition? It’s like a white guy in boxing with HIV coming back after 11 years with a clear blood check saying he want’s a shot at the number 2 or number 3 contender to leap frog to a title shot, it doesn’t happen, you start small, and as my fellow bloggers have said, YOU HAVE TO EARN THOSE KIND’S OF FIGHTS.

TUF 5 lineup looks kind of weak as compared to TUF 4, that was a crazy lineup of fighters man. I guess it would be pretty hard to compete with season 4, considering they were almost all good fighters. I really dont know what to expect, but ill watch it anyways.. obviously.. its mma heh
That Corey Hill looks a head taller than anyone else…

on the matt hamil thing bisbing is a nobody himself who has he beat no one special yet alright hes big in the uk but the uk fighters have nothing on the americans who have nothing on brazilians who have nothing on fedor the uk isnt as advanced in mma as the states so over here bisbing is just another person in my books. And tell me what the reasoning joe lauzon is on the tuf five crew if he already beat one of the coaches
Diiiiiiik!
Good Question! I’d like to know that one as well. Maybe Joe should be teaching Jens….
Joe Lauzon won his last fight with Jens in just 48 seconds in the first round, dropping Pulver with a left hook……impressive.
It was a lucky punch though. I doubt he would be able to do it again.
Thank you…at least somebody’s paying attention.
ive been seeing some little evil fights and i have to admit that hes an awesome fighter and i would have to agree that that was a semi lucky punck even though i would love to see a rematch
Lauzon would be destroyed in a rematch. Jens nerves, and Joe’s luck are what got him that knock out. I give him altl her espect for even takign that fight. The fact he stepped in with pulver and showed no fear and let his hands fly…he deserves the win, but it might happen once out of 60.
Matt Hamill is a god awful MMA fighter. Hey Richard, it’s Bisping. Bisping and Jardine would be a good fight, Tito has him in UFC 71 I hear. Evans and Bisping would actually be a bad fight. I see this as a real boring fight spent on the ground too much.
i dont know rashad has finished his last two opponents ortiz vs evans fight shouldnt be boring even though i see tito losing
What??
Diik, are you going to finally get off Tito’s nuts?
I hate Tito, but he will definately make some Ground Sugar.
hillbilly
i dont like tito ,rashad is stronger and a better wrestler than tito i doubt if titos going to be able to be on top of rashad for long
Yeah, well Al.. stupid hicks that say “Ya’ll” never sound quite right,….. uhhhhh bobby bouche… uhhhh you a water boy or what?
so yo Kansas.. Ninja or Lawler???
lol you really need to ask Kansas if he think the ChuteBoxe or Miletich fighter will win?
Ya’ll look stupid after UFC75. Looks to me as if Bisping had to get a hometown advantage to beat the guy. Hamill was taking him down at will. Cheaters never prosper LOL
good call on the DOUCHE BAG Doc lol.
heh ya i know, just cuz he was the only one around besides me an Dr.J, trying to spark conversation as usual hehe.
So whos your pick RJ??

Bisping got his *** handed to him for 3 rounds and everyone knows it. I don’t what those judges were smoking but Hamil got robbed point blank. He was taking Bisping down and controlling the fight for 3 rounds but I guess that wasn’t good enough for those 2 crackpot judges. Mike enjoy your gift…you arrogant *******!
