Joe Stevenson Vs. Melvin Guillard - I have literally spent that last 10 minutes just staring at my monitor thinking about this fight. I really have no idea who I give the edge to in this fight and I have no idea how this fight will turn out. I don’t even know if I can pick a winner. We all know that Joe Stevenson has the superior edge on the ground and has looked very dominant since dropping to 155 with his victories over Yves Edwards and Mishima.
Melvin Guillard is just one of those guys who I really think has a strong game and an even stronger future in the UFC. Guillard has to be one of the “quickest” guys I’ve seen in the ring and his constant, frenetic energy makes him a tough matchup for anyone. Melvin has the advantage on the ground feet and definitely has heavy hands as was evidenced by his KO of Rick Davis and his KO over Gabe Ruediger at UFC 63. I don’t know when I ever have seen someone get knocked out with a body punch, but that is the type of power that Melvin has.
Stevenson is going to look to take the fight to the ground early and often, but I think that Melvin might be able to keep the fight on the feet long enough to land some bombs. Melvin looks to me like the might be developing that “Chuck Liddell” version of sprawling where he is able to bounce up immediately from any takedown. Either way, this fight should back some fireworks and in the end, I guess I have to go with Melvin. Winner: Melvin Guillard.
Justin McCully Vs. Antoni Hardonk - Winner: Antoni Hardonk
Dokonjonosuke Mishima Vs. Kenny Florian - Winner: Dokonjonosuke Mishima
Keita Nakamura Vs. Drew Fickett - Winner: Drew Fickett
Kurt Pellegrino Vs. Nate Mohr - Winner: Kurt Pellegrino
Forrest Petz Vs. Kuniyoshi Hironaka - Winner: Kuniyoshi Hironaka
Seth Petruzelli Vs. Wilson Gouveia - Winner: Seth Petruzelli
Roan Carneiro Vs. Rich Clementi - Winner: Roan Carneiro
Naoyuki Kotani Vs. Thiago Tavares - Winner: Thiago Tavares

I think I’ll stay with Joe….. G&P TKO in 3.
HAD TO GO WITH MELVIN
That was an impressive Tae Kwon Do punch to the ribs, but I gotta disagree about Melvin’s Sprawltential.
Don’t think that he’ll be able to break away from Joe.
But, I will say that if Joe’s not focused, Melvin will get a quick KO.
Joe has been known to “cruise”, and that would be a BIG mistake here.
floyd maywhatever sucks.
MAN JOSH NEER IS ONE UGLY DUDE
MAN MAYWEATHER IS GETTIN PAID 25 MILLION FOR HIS FIGHT WITH OSCAR… WHATS UP WITH THAT?
i would pick Melvin for water cooler talk at work. As for when i place my bets, neither. I woudl not bet on this fight. My gut tells me (so does Gabes) that Melvin shuold take the win. But after Joe dropped a class he had physically improved so much that i think he may just be settling in and bring a new Joe this time around
I’m saving my “picks” for UFC 69, however, Kenflo will win. I’m still on KenFlo’s nuts…
YO…..
Check my T.

yup, made him look like an amateur in front of his mom, Joe daddy gon be the champ soon.
WHOS JOE DADDY BABY???
what can i say. you go out on a limb and sometimes you take a fall…
good god!!!! What the he…!!! I couldnt believe that main event!!!!! That took like 30 seconds. I was very dissapointed in that performance. I knew something was up because he came out looking all nervous. He looked how wanderlei looked when he came out against cro cop and dan the second time. His striking for the brief 6 seconds i got to witness it looks surperb but daddy was “his” daddy last night and i was impressed with stephenson. I must admitt i was kinda sleeping on him but after his last two fights i thin i might have to rethink a little about this guy.
that was very surprising…lol ..Joe Stevenson is an overlooked fighter, and i admit i did count him out in this fight, but deserved the win.. the way he presented himself with his attitude throughout the fight was very admirable…i can see him giving sherk a run for his moneyy..thats juss my opinion thoo…
YEA…. DUNNO ABOUT THAT FIGHT I JUST THINK JOE GOT A LIL LUCKY AND MELVIN WAS A LITTLE DUMB…. IN MY MIND JOE IS NOT THAT GOOD OF A FIGHTER..
I gotta say, Joe physically looked in better shape than I have ever seen him before.
Melvin showed that he hasn’t improved much in the intelligence and patience department. But then again, how bout post fight Stevenson inviting everyone to his party at “TAO” which he spelled TAE. This certainly wasn’t a battle of the intellectuals. If “baby Randleman” could learn some time management, I think he could still be a force to be reckoned with. If not, he will always be one those guys that loses easy fights that he shouldn’t lose by making dumb mistakes. The tools are definitely there.
i dunno why some guys are saying they overlooked stevenson or hes better than they thought.. hes the next champ..
Melvin was just too “impetuous”…LMFAO
It’s Showtime!
DAMN CABLE! Went out right before the fight. Won’t be fixed until MOndy! FOOK!
Man if Hill don’t make the TUF 5 finals, I bet its Gamburyan….
Either way, I’m sure they will be fighting Diaz.
