Well the time of reckoning has arrived, so all the debating will be over!! At last it is here, and it is already in an outstanding month(my birthday month) so this is great news for me!!! There is no need to go into the whole debata thing, in “who will win”, because to me they are both evenly matched and they both have fought quality oppents……. in their respective organizations that is. Wandy, returning comming off of two devastating losses given to him by way of knockout, and the iceman comming off a defeat at the hands of his rival quinton ‘rampage’ jackosn via knockout. So in all actuality the doc is correct in stating this is the perfect time for these two to lock it up and finally settle the animosty bertween the two and find out WHO is the better. I personally think it is evenly matched because they both have risen to the occasion and had a significatly high amount of success in the ring and out showing a great amount of class and dignity. So this should be a fight for the ages and im hoping that neither one will back down, take a step back, or flinch in this high octane battle of the best!!!!
this card also has the debut of shogun cant wait
Also rumored for the card are Diego Sanchez vs Jon Fitch and the return of Evan Tanner. should be a great card.
i wonder how much tickets would be i would love to go to that one!!
YEE HAWWW! Wandy is gonna stomp the Frosty the Ice man! Any bets on this one boys!?
Hey Dennis…. YOU CAN COME OUT OF THE FREEZER NOW! The Ice boy is back in action, time to get this thing out in the open on the main thread, no more forums, we can bash it all out here and nobody cares baby cause it’s the topic of the hour! I am more interested in this fight than the Gonzaga/Couture ….. St. Pierre/Koscheck fights for sure!
Finally, like Dr.J said I’ll believe it when I see the fight actually happening. Shogun making his debut will be awsome also. Anyone have an idea where this UFC is taking place? If I knew this card was going to be this good I would have saved the money I paid already for UFC74 and went to this one instead.
Isn’t this one being held in California? Staples Center?
kansas- ill bet my first born chuck wins!
according to graciefighter.com, mauricio rua may be scratched from the ufc 76 fightcard due to a knee injury. i hope it’s not true and only false hearsay, but you never know. if anybody else knows about this, keep us updated.
UFC 76 is currently scheduled for Anaheim, CA
@hotpad
I think your bet is extreme, but I am confident that Wanderlei will beat Chuck badly, so you are on, I will need your address to pick up your first born, you just be ready to sign em over.
You still that confident?
I bet Chuck LOSES by the 2nd round. As I have said in the past, he can’t handle the pressure of fighting a REAL striker. Before Rampage, it was all g&p or BJJ.. so I predicted Rampage would be Chuckie the snowman, and guess what, I was dead on. Now Chuck is getting ready to turn 39 years old, and he is going to fight a 31 year old striker from Brazil who held the Pride LHW title for almost 6 years, uhhh kinda pales in comparison when you look at the experience in number of fights, title defenses, I mean Wand whupped Rampage twice, and badly so. I will go with Wand, firstborn on the line or not…
if it happens, my prediction is.. Wandy by KO in the 1st! i think these guys will go right after each other.. mayeb about a minute of long range exchanges.. leg kicks, etc.. then the flurrys will start.. someones getting KO in the first round.. and its gonna be Chuck..
my prediction- wandy will start to throw outta control like he always does that is USALLY successful against most of his opponents that he has fought. But when he fought someone who stayed on the bike and moved around and who was a decent striker(cro cop 2) he got caught with a right i believe?……that put him down, and ultimately got ko’d……so im going with second round winner by ko…chuck the iceman liddell…. same way he ko’s sobrals wild punches.
my prediction close to todds wandy comes in wild and chuck ko in the first round either way this fight isnt going to the second
@Todd
I respect your opinion, completely, and perhaps if it went down that would be the way, but Sobral as a comparison, no way bro. Babalu is not a striker, Wand is a much more devistating striker, his strikes OVERWHELM people and are hard to take, he is the Royce Gracie of strikes so to speak, he is the Bruce Lee of Muay Thai, he is much more of an opponent than Chuck has face in recent years and I think Chuck is going to go in there and gas out and get knocked out, I mean, he is closing in on 39 years.
KANSAS
i dont want to get u mad lol but randy couture is 43 and punching power usually doesnt leave once u got it u got it especially chucks countering where its not that he hits hard but the way he hits u
@Todd
Understood, however his foot work is getting slack. Punching power has a lot to do with it, but his foot work, positioning, angles, all that plays into the Kickboxing game, and Chucks speacialty. Last year I saw Ray Mercer fight a much younger fighter, he was tearing the guy up until the guy came in at him confidently in the 3rd round, then he got knocked out. Ray had the same knockout power in that fight that he had when he fought Tommy Morrison years ago, but the difference was his legs, he had lost his movement and reflex, which is taking its toll on the iceman.. this is undeniable unless you want to live in a fantasy world where the iceman never gets old.. like Hulk Hogan I guess.. lol
sorry that last post was for RICHARD
@mma kansas true, true
kansas
i have to go to work but i know i will continue this conversation later my prediction chuck ko round number 1
even though i HATE to admit this, when he fought quinton the second time, did yall see the leg kick he tried to kick jackson with? It looked all stiff and….awkward, i donno it just looked weird. But im hopin chuck learned his lesson and will start to be the SMART fighter and stick to his effective counter punching and getting the other opponents frusterated that made him successful,
Yeah, I think chuck is slowly becoming one dimensional, not by choice, but by age.
@Richard
Yeah, we can continue this when you get home, it wont change the outcome.. lol kidding
Off subject, Dana White DID lie to the press about the possible aquisition of Pride and then like a few days later, BAM! They came out and said they were taking it over, so yeah… I don’t think it is over, I believe this fight WILL happen in the next 6-8 months.
MY PREDICTION BOYS SORRY BUT GOTTA GO WITH THE CHUCKSTER… WANDY LATELY HAS SHOWED THAT HIS CHIN BLOWS
@Patrick,
And Chucks chin is steel right?… lol Pat once again, the only one of the two that has fought lately is Chuck, and HIS chin BLEW!
Lets see Chuck fight Cro Cop now.. right.. .lol, he wont do it, not out of his weight division anyhow, that was what Wand did, .. Wand doesn’t blow, he just went into a fight out weight against one of the worlds best heavyweights… can’t say he sucks for that.. he actually had a draw in their first fight, more than I can say for Chuck..
theres been too much hype and talk about this matchup for it to go to the 2nd round.. its gonna be a 1st round KO.. and im picking Wandy, IF THIS FIGHT EVER HAPPENS!!!!!
But i think anyone would get ko’d from a CLEAN hook like that, that was evident when dan hit wandy with the same blow chuck got hit with. I think they both got good chins, neither one of their chins were tested until their last fights. And i wouldnt even count those because they were clean shots after an attempted strike. So i think they both are out of the hot seat in regards to their chin because ive seen both of them recover fairly quickly from some good shots that rocked them, chuck(guy meztger) and wandy (cro cop,) it was just unfortunate that both of their oppents took advantage of the hooks and bounced on them (quinton,henDo) So i dont think their chins are at question here, i think it is who will land the good shot and then after they land the shot, who can capitalize and finish the fight.
Mad dog.. axe murderer… fast, impulsive, and has a younger body, cardio.. yeah my pick wand
and AGAIN we talk about who wandy and chuck has fought. Firstly wandy fought majority of grapplers/wrestlers his career too. Quinton and cro cop and wandy is some strikers i guess you can say are superb strikers lets break it down of wandy opponents:
arona: Brazillian jjstu stylist
Nakamura-judo specialist
hideko yoshida-judo specialist
hunt-kickboxer
kanahara-submission specialist
tamura- submision specialist
sakuraba-wrestler
matsui-wrestler
melenko-wrestler
cro cop-kick boxer
quinton-kick *** style
and excuse me if i mispelled the names, but wandy fought Way more grapplers and submission specialist, yall act like he fought nothing but top level strikers all his career. He made his rise to the top just like chucky did by knocking out submission specialist and grapplers, and just because wandy fought cro cop doesnt make him better than chuck in any way. If that is the case those fights with cro cop dont even count because he got knocked out by a champ in a lower weight class in dan henderson.
and i didnt see his speed or agressivness in his last two fights. He might have the cardio and the body over chuck though. But i donno this is a toss up…even though i would want chucky to win it is a toss up….let the best man/striker win!!
Sure Todd, if you fought Cro Cop that would count for nothing either.. whatever.. 1×1=0? makes no sense, his fights with Cro Cop DO matter, the level of competition DOES matter, in the experience catagory, and another thing, Wand wasnt motivated, he was apathetic like Cro Cop was in his last fight.. put that all aside because fighting Chuck is the one that will push Wand to fight his best… we have seen Chuck at his best.. against Rampage
Yea he was at his best, i believe and he got caught, but chucks level of experience is high enough, whats wandy experience in fighting crocop 2? The experience of getting ko after a grueling and painful match. Yea his style is great. He CAN fight, but he is regarded the gracie of watever and the king of mui tai…yea over there in japan, or brazill i dont hear all the wandy talk over here or anything. But all that aside this should push chuck just as much as it would push wandy. But as far as experience i think it is equal, they both fought in title fights, they both defended their titles on multiple occasions. And who exactly would be his level of competition? Like i said wandy fought just as many grapplers and bjj specialist as chuck if not more. Your making it seem like he fought nothing but top level strikers. like i said in the above article he made his rise knocking out wrestlers and bjj specialist and judo artist. His level of competition is quite the same. Just because he fought a heavy weight and got ko’d doesnt mean nothing. And if you say mirko took it easy on him in the first fight,.. ok then wandy got a freebee but we seen what happend the second fight
You know why we aren’t conversing that much about Chuck Todd?.. Because there isn’t much to say.. lol.. and there is a difference between being champ for 2 years and being champ for 5-6 years, or having 31 wins, versus 20-21 wins.. HUGE EXPERIENCE FACTOR, that you are dismissing as nothing because of a pro-liddell bias…
kansas i wouldn’t fight cro cop anyway…i am NOT getting kicked in my head..forget that. I give all you fighters props for going in there and competing with top knotch fighters. But to see a head kick like that, or a left hook by wandy, or a counter by chuck……..I aint no B**** or nothing but forget all that. im not taking a loss, lol lol
Well, Todd, I respect your opinion… but I must agree to disagree
Man.. over the past like 5 years, theres been so many arguments from both sides of who would win blah blah.. really im tired of saying the same sht.. im ready to see them fight..
Yes im with wandy, for anyone who didnt know yet, like maybe amir, who thought i was with chuck against rampage.. Wandy.. not Chuck..
yea he has more wins against wrestlers and grapplers..ok i give him that experience factor over chuck. And ok im pretty sure if ufc had the fighting competitions that pride has, im pretty sure chuck would have just as many as wandy…ok wandy does have a lot of fights though, but i am FAR from biased, i just like having the chuck/wandy debata
but all in all i like talking to you guys about this, im just ready to see them fight. Ok one quick question….what would yo say IF chuck were to win?
I haven’t gone there Todd.. honestly.. that’s like saying what if Tyson beat Ali, didn’t happen, like this fight didn’t happen, and hasn’t happend, and my Lord it needs to HAPPEN… all opinions right now, speculation, and I am not even going to think about Wand losing to Chucks because I don’t think it will happen..
I think it is a must win for both fighters. The loser will be labeled over-the-hill and need to seriously consider retirement. Chuck is probably more fitting to retire much sooner than Wandi even though he’s never taken as much punishment in his fights. After Wandi wins, he will have his rematch with either Rampage or Henderson. But why is everyone getting all riled up about a non-fight? is there that little to talk about?
a rematch with hendo i would want to see with wandy but with rampage i dont know i would pay to see it but he already beat him bad twice but u never know look at big nog and heath anything can happen in a fight,so if dana is trying to shield any fighter at anytime almost anyone can land a lucky punch this aint like wwe and u cant make people win
@AMIR
Yea amir, there really is that little to talk about.. I mean, well, without Pride, Dennis, and Wand, life is boring….. lol kidding
Kansas
when wandi loses are u going to disappear to?
liddel saying wandi doesnt want the fight what the hell kansas explain?
@DiiK
All right Diik, first of all you aren’t batting long enough to call me out like that, but I will respond since you are a friend of sorts.
Wandi didn’t want the fight you say? That is what Dana “the saint” White says, but what does Wandi say? Look at his website. He wants the fight, there is some bureaucratic bull crap going on that nobody except those closest to the negotiations know about, by the way, Yahoo only reports what Dana says, where is the other side of the story? Accuracy should be questioned in this story like CNN, Fox News, and Rush Limbaugh amigo.. don’t just take their word for it.
Other thing… I wont melt like Dennis if Wand loses, I didn’t when he lost to Hendo, but here is the deal, HE WONT LOSE TO CHUCK THE PAPER TIGER LIDDELL…. sorry to bust your bubble.. lol, I don’t think Wand will lose, I think you will be forwarding me that T-shirt you won from Dennis because you are gonna lose this bet IF they ever fight.. that’s IF they can ever nail down a firm contract.
@Diik
Look at Wand’s site man.. don’t just read some crap wannabe commentator, DrJ could do a better job than the clowns that started this whole RUMOR and then squashed it.. click on th link below.. look at Wand’s official site, he is still touting the fight as a go… he isn’t in the loop on this, it wasn’t his doing.. this is 100% DANA WHITE..
http://www.wanderleisilva.com.br/site/
Im more intersted in the BJ vs Sherk fight because its actually going to happen lol. Cant wait to get MY imaginary mmahq shirt hehe.
Im sure Wandy wants alot of money to fight chuck, but in my opinion he deserves it. The UFC is probably being cheap as usual, TIME IS RUNNING OUT! Chuck isnt getting any younger!! by the time they fight chucks gonn be like 43 and hes gonna get KTFO, then everyone is gonna sayWandy would never have beat Chuck in his prime.. blah blah..
Come on Dana, make something happen.. give them each a mil and lets get this sht poppin!
well put bv
