While I’m still in the mood to look at possible future fight matchups, let’s think about what might be next for Gabriel Gonzaga.
Gonzaga fought every well in the war with Randy Couture at UFC 74 and simply couldn’t overcome Randy’s clinch game and a severly broken nose. Regardless of the loss, I still think Gabriel has a long and very bright future in the MMA heavyweight division and I believe the UFC still sees Gonzaga as a possible future champion.
This past week, reports have surfaced that Andre Arlovski is stalled in contract negotiations with the UFC. Arlovski currently has only one fight left on his UFC contract and the UFC has always been reluctant to place their “star” fighters in the cage until a contract extension has been worked out. Arlovski has been extremely lackluster in his recent UFC fights and sports a 2-2 record in his last 4 fights. Naturally, Andre is looking for the same kind of money he got when he was still the UFC heavyweight champion. The only issue is, he is no longer the champ and, with the new influx of major talent at heavyweight, it doesn’t look like Andre will be the champ any time soon.
So, I say lets through Gonzaga and Arlovski against each other. If the UFC is looking for a way to drop Arlovski’s contract (which I honestly think they are looking for), put him up against Gonzaga and see what he has left in the tank. Arlovski can strike; Gonzaga can strike. Arlovski can grapple; Gonzaga can grapple. Throw the two in the octagon and lets see what happens.
It will be a good fight back after a loss for Gonzaga, but not an easy cream-puff fight like some fighters get after a loss. Arlovski is coming off a boring fight against Fabricio Werdum and Gonzaga will keep a fast pace and push Arlovski into action. So, I ask you; who do you guys want to see both Gonzaga and Arlovski fight next?

To be honest all of these fights look interesting. The Heavy Weight Division is so stacked, every match up would be fun to watch. It seemed like yesterday that the Heavies in the UFC were about as exciting as the Boxing Heavy Weights….wellllllll OK not that bad but you know what I mean. If the UFC can sign Barnett and Fedor …….I can only imagine…….LOL.
Gonzaga vs. Arlovski - A great fight where each fighter exchanges great shots, but with great takedown defense arlovski keeps it on the feet and finally late in the second round catches Gonzaga on the chin with a great combination. I believe the X-Factor for Andre is his ability to throw punches in combinations. Gonzaga is good technique wise when he strikes, but he doesn’t put them together in a combination. I don’t think he would be able to catch Andre with one shot at a time, and he won’t be able to take him down like he did with Cro-Crop Winner Arlovski.

Arlovski would be the perfect fight for Gonzaga… by December if Gonzo’s beak heals up good, man he was missing FLESH, he had a MANHOLE in his nose…lol… pending all that heals okay I think he should fight Arlovski, it will be a stand up war and we will see what Andrei is made of as well as Gonzo… because I don’t think the smaller Andrei really wants to go down there with a bigger and skilled Gonzaga…

i dont know if he ever turned down a fight with Fedor but i know they are friends so im guessing if they offered the fight he probably did turn it down.
@Dr J.. don’t mean to be a jerk but the commentary you posted on this threat topic has a typo. You said “through them both in” .. its actually “throw”…oh…. and Gonzaga looks like he is holding Arlovski’s hand in the picture, they look like a couple of proud *** men! lol! but hey you never know right? Anyhow, ending thoughts on this… I think the Gonzaga Arlovski fight would be excellent…

i think Arlovski would be overwhelmed by Gonzaga. Arlovski has lost that ” rip your head off” attitude, he might as well compete in Dancing with the stars by looking at his last couple of fights.
Gabriel gonzaga fight shown on Fox 40 on April 19 Gonzaga hit the guy with his right leg right in the head and the guy fall with no moving severely dosed. Gonzaga failed to see that the guy doesn’t even move and the look of the face is like on dead man. still gonzaga rushed trying to pound the guy right in the head and was stopped by refery speeding like crazy to get him out. Gonzaga acted very violently. no matter fight no fight a fighter must not fail to be a human. Fight transfering fighter into an animal disgusts. I am no more admirer of gonzaga I saw who he is really. giving his inner a go on the ring looks like he could be good killer if it would not be for the sport to fuel his need for violence. It is a sport not meant to be animal violent. Gonzaga showed the wors human can have not much of a intelligence. Disgusting face disgusting failing to recogniza that an opponent is no longer a threat and that his fight is won. He failed like normal human to stop on time. He acted like someone I would never want to stay close to so I no longer can admire nearly an intending killer! iN REAL LIFE ONLY SERIAL CRIMINALS ACT LIKE THAT, WHO IS GONZAGA SOMEONE TO FEEL DISGUST OF.
