Much has been made about the current state of contract negotiations between Fedor Emelianenko and the UFC. Fedor’s management team has been meeting off and on with the UFC brass over the past two weeks and no official announcement regarding the negotiation’s status has been made.
With UFC 75 just around the corner tomorrow night, much speculation is rising that Fedor has been signed to a contract and will be announced as the newest UFC heavyweight before the main event at UFC 75.
Fightlinker.com posted a very good article a few days ago speculation that Fedor had already or would soon sign with the UFC and drawing some pretty interesting parallels to Cro Cop’s signing with the UFC.
We all remember what happened with Mirko Crocop? That was another deal shrouded in secrecy, with both parties flatly denying on record that things were set until UFC 67 ads showed up with CroCop kicking people’s heads in left and right. However, there were a few slip-ups … Crocop’s name started popping up in UFC programming. Training partners on Mirko’s web forum kept implying there was about to be a big announcement. And then there was that thing where Mirko’s picture got taken wearing a UFC hoodie. Oops.
And now again, lets look at what’s happening with Fedor: his name pops up in the Countdown to UFC75 show - and you know Dana never gives anyone outside his organization free advertising. Sources from the UFC side continue to say no (just like with Mirko) but over on the Russian side there are enough leaks to sink a Russian battleship implying that the deal is pretty much done. And of course, let’s not discount Fedor’s new Affliction shirt deal.
Now rumors surfaced this morning that Fedor has indeed and that his contract includes the following details:
- 4 fight contract worth $1.8 million per fight
- Fedor will still be allowed to compete in combat sambo for Russia
- No cross-promotion or affiliation will be made between the UFC and the Red Devil camp
Take the information for what it is worth at this point - stricktly rumor. The $1.8 million number raises a few questions for me considering that the UFC’s biggest names right now only get about $250,000 plus PPV revenue. Of course, Fedor is definitely worth that amount and perhaps Fedor wasn’t interested in the PPV cut and only wanted a strict dollar amount. Either way, we will find out tomorrow night if Fedor will soon take his fight game inside the octagon.

HOLY **** ….. HE DESERVES 1.8… BUT DAMM THATS ALOT… ****
lets hope he continues to do well and gets randy wright off the bat no warm ups
well lets all keep our fingers crossed that tomorrow Dana announces hes got a new star. i think we need to see a few UFC heavys take a beat down so the fans will drool over Fedor vs. Randy.
This just keeps getting better and better, if it’s true that is. At this point…even though I had always been on Fedor’s side of the negotiations..I can’t see how he possibly thinks he has a future in MMA w/o the UFC being involved one way or another. Fedor is a very humble and low-key type of guy so he would be at ease living his life off in the mountains somewhere, but maybe this is more about his legacy now. Basketball had Jordan, Golf has Tiger Woods, Tennis has Roger Federor, and MMA has Fedor.
BTW everyone, remember to stay away from the internet and all these websites for the next 2 days
over & out, see you guys on the other side

no doubt last time they had a show in England i accidentally found out Gonzaga knocked out Cro Cop about an hour befor the show aired. i was totally pisssed that the biggest surprise of the year didnt end up being a surprise. if for some reason someone is going to post a spoiler here please let us know its a spoiler so we can choose NOT to read it if we dont want to.
Good, I guess it’s better than Fedor fighting second rate competition in circus side show MMA org’s… he will be a millionaire from the outset no matter what, just like Chuck is.. Wand.. Shogun.. and CroCop .. so there you have it folks, me thinks that Wand and Shogun and big Nog all jumping along with Dan Henderson kind of opens the door for it to be “okay’ for Fedor to break and join…. hope it’s true but I am light about it, I mean if not it will eventually happen, and if true, well there you have it.. all the best in one place.. who needs the rest… lol
This is the biggest news ever to come out of MMA ever. The People who Fedor has fought over and over in Pride wasn’t a challenge for him. I don’t know that there’s really a big threat in the UFC. Of course somebody might get lucky and take a wild swing, but I know that can happeb anywhere.
His GnP game is the best, he can pin you and submit you in seconds. The only fighter I’ve seen that gave him a run for his money is Arona, who will be the champion one day.
