You mean to tell me with UFC 79 fight card being so stacked, the best Dana and Joe Silva could come up with for UFC 78 is Rashad vs. Bisping. I would like to see a valid expiation from Dana White. I do not want to hear that their main card was going to be Tito and Rashad and Ortiz screwed it up by backing out, because in my opinion that fight should be a warm up fight for a main event.

I was hoping you would look into it and post something. I hope this fight finally happens. I’m still not holding my breath either though.

Tito needs to go work as a security guard for a night club, like club border jumper or something… as for the actual TOPIC at hand… I think either Ortiz is gonna fight Wand in December or it will indeed be Liddell, it will be one or the other… I have a gut feeling it will be Ortiz, but because everyone wants it so bad it could definately be time for the two to throw down… I mean Chuck didn’t get whipped THAAAT bad by Jardine, he just didn’t execute his game is all.. so I think he could come into a fight with Silva.. and who knows where he will be at….

Hey Kans As, you really do not think that people care about UFC 78 being a crappy card and you cannot see how it relates to UFC 79 which has a great card……..uh dude come on I know your not punch drunk, you have to really fight to get that brother. i dont care who chuck just lost to, chuck isnt a easy fight for any one, and on any given night in the octagon anything can happen especially when you get these two in the octagon. should be interesting, like i said it will go to decision, i dont think neither one is gonna sit there and bang with each other. If anything chuck will once again hop on that bicycle and try and pick wandy apart. They both got to much on the line in this fight and to much punching power between the both of them to go at it recklessly. But u never know….. I didnt think chuck would have lost to jardine, i didnt think shogun would loose to forest and it happend, sh*# i didnt think wandy would get ko’d by dan. Anything can happen with these two fighters.

I think Chuck is going to win this fight. Chuck loves to counter punch and I think that Wandi with his push forward aggresive style sets up perfect for Chuck. Along with Silvas octagon ring rust I have go with Chuck in this fight. With this being MMA on the other hand anything can happen, so I woundn’t be suprised if Chuck with his hands down gets caught.

Wandy is good but he can be beat. Either by a head kick or by a left or right hook, just like chuck can be beat. They both can loose on any given night. And like i said it will go down wandy will win in the same manner that jardine won by..leg kicks, or chuck will pick him apart and win by decision. I just can see these two wanting to go in there and throw bolows all night. There careers will be magnified in this fight (if it does happen) like never before. Unless they go out there and just swings for the fences and they have the attitude like ” f- it, we have nothing to lose”

Seriously I don’t think Chucks cardio will last in this fight, he is too old now.. he is going to throw good stuff in the first, but if he doesn’t use all the tools, which he hasn’t been (basically a boxer in 4oz gloves) he is going to lose no doubt about it, you arguments are decent at best… hollow in the end compared to a much younger and more ferocious Wand who by the way can beat the UFC LHW champ on any day given and I think because Chuck knows that it will be in his head… WAND by knockout in the second..

I have been reading comments from other sites about chuck vs wnady and every body thinks that silva’s style will knock chuck. which i think is bull **** this is the perfect fight for chuck if silva is comming right for him the whole fight he is going to get knocked out. this fight wont mean that much cause there both past there prime but i still want chuck to knock him out

anything can happen on any given day is true, personally i don’t see liddell beating silva, silva is going to come out with a vengance, silva didn’t back up from jackson and sure as hell won’t back away from chuck. lets take a look at silvas two last fights, he fought crocop on 2 1/2 to 3 week notice beccause fedor got injured in training, i bet you silva would sign to fight crocop agian in a heartbeat, iwatched silva and crocop go at it and it came to a decision, if you watched the fight you would have no question about who won the fight and it wasn’t crocop, silva had strep throat in his fight against henderson, when is the last time you had strep it knocks the **** out of my energy last time i had it, you will see silva literally destroy liddell, silva was fighting every 2 - 3 months before and in need of a rest, silvas apparent loss to mark hunt was disputed by both bas rutten and our own randy the natural couture who both basically called bull **** on the decision. silva doesn’t back down from any one, thai clinch and liddell gets ko’ed, little longer than the jackson liddell fight because jackson got lucky and ended the fight early, jackson would have beat liddell anyway just happened to be early, chuck aint got a chance to ko wanderlei it will be like tito running from chuck the entire fight except chuck will run from wanderlei, silva aint worried about liddells hands.

Richard, I like you… but your post is pale and meatless compared to “Ultimate Fighter”…. Silva by ferocious, fierce, and quick knockout… I can’t wait…

are we still talking about this guys? lol. Fine then, in my opinion, chuck is still chuck even tho he lost to Jardine. Hes still a dangerous fighter who cand end a fight in a fraction of a second. Silva is still the axe murderer who can beat anyone if hes at 100%.

I still like Wandy in this fight, he has alot more tools to work with than Chuck and if for some odd reason it does go to the ground, Wandy has a definate advatage there.

Lets hope this fight finally happens in december and if its 3-4 days before the fight im sure there will be alot of discussion, until then, this match is up in the air, like it has been for the past 6 years..

Fletcher, who beat who is not what determines whos gonna win the fight. Its circular logic, your own arguments can work against you, saying Silva beat Rampage blah blah. It doesnt mean anything.

What matters is right NOW, where are they fighting, when are they fighting, whats their physical condition? injuries etc.. whats their mental condition, coming off losses or extended leave from the sport.

Theres a ton of factors to consider in picking a winner, not just comparing opponents they have in common.

If you really think about it the only good fighter that silva beat is jackson. now think about all the peole that chuck beat.

ive always thought that it would be a great fight. And i also always said that those looping punches that wandy throws will be in affective against a REAL GOOD striker. The only way to beat wandy is to come straight up the middle against him eg. tito,vitor belfort, and cro cop. Tito wobbled him, vitor knocked him out, and cro cop wobbled him. And they all were from straight lefts,rights,. Chuck has the capability to end wandy night early but in all and every case it is easier said than done. Wandy is a excellent fighter so this would be a good one.

Can you apprise me with all the knowledge you have on how many times Rampage Jackson, or Chuck Liddell beat Mirko Crocop in a lopsided weight division fight for a GP? I know Wand has a draw and a loss with him, but if you look at the context of both fights, Wand could have taken a split in the first and fought his arse off in the second and took more than either of the two previous could have ever….

Wand is a legend, so is chuck and rampage is on track if he can maintain… but don’t put Wand down like that, it just shows ignorant bias.. now Chuck liddell is the icegirl but he is a legend so I am not going to argue against that, and he has fought some tough sob’s I wont argue against that either…

Really comes down to money. The UFC would rather sign these guys to long-term, low money contracts like the did with Hughes and Franklin so their payout is minimal over a few years. But the top guys like Fedor, Arona, Soku all want big money and smaller 2 or 3 fight contracts.

Also, I checked your profile and saw that you put Sokoudjou at #10 for heavyweight. Why would you rank him at all for heavyweight considering he only has 4 fights and all of them have been at light heavyweight?

I checked out your rankings, most of them are understandable, but a few things struck me as odd.

LH: Chuck didnt make your top 10? that surprised me also you Rank Forrest pretty high up there, bit too high i think..

WW: Fitch i could see why you put him up there he not only has alot of potential, like Melendez or Huerta, but unlike them he has actually been tested and proved. Though i wouldnt rank him above Hughes, obviously cuz i got Hughes at #1. hehe

This is what is so great about the new rankings site. You make your rankings and they are there for everyone to see and either agree or bash you.

I have chuck right around that 8,9,10,11 rank and just didn’t put him in. All those guys in that range are nearly the same for me. I almost put Liddell and 10 and left Nog off the list but didnt. Jardine pretty easily beat Liddell so he has to be higher and Machida is a good fighter even though he may seem boring.

I guess we just majorly have to disagree on the 155lb division. Have you really ever watch Gilbert or JZ actually fight? Both guys are beasts; Cavalcante is nothing to scoff at. Just cuz he is in K-1 doesn’t mean he couldn’t hack it in any other promotion. And I don’t have BJ higher at LW cuz he hasn’t fought anyone in the division yet (other than Jens). I’m waiting on throwing BJ at #1 (or even 2 or 3) like everyone else until December when we see how he looks against Stevenson.

Controversy. This is what the site is designed for. Everyone has a viewpoint and most of them are completely valid.

Overall, BV if you look at the current overall rankings on the site, I think you have to agree that they are pretty accurate. I may vote completely opposite how you vote, but with enough people voting, the overall rankings work themself out into something that is very good.

ya doc, its a great site, for all the reasons you said, everyone gets their say, but they might have to back it up too! hehe. I would say the rankings so far are pretty accurate, because everyone will have their own bias to guys they like, but tend to agree in the broad scheme of things.

and the bias is fine in my opinion. There is no way you can tell me the guys at Sherdog or MMAWeekly don’t have bias when they put out there rankings.

That is why, in my opinion, these rankings are much better and more accurate

As for Melendez, yes ive seen him fight hehe. About a month ago i mentioned that i would like to see him fight in the UFC with the level of competition he belongs at. Until that happens, i cant see him being ranked that high, especially at #1. The question is, why dont you rank Huerta up that high?

About BJ, i think people are ranking him so high, because he was a force at welter, hanging with guys who are bigger and stronger than him, so dropping down to LW, he should be awesome. This hasnt been officially proven yet, since like you said he hasnt fought much at LW but with the level of skill and experience he brings to the table its not hard to consider him legit. Unlike someone like Huerta who looks great in his fights, but thats not too hard to accomplish when your fighting b level guys.

you make a good point about huerta. he most likely will make my top 10 next time now that I stop and think about it again.
