Franklin 45K only?!!!! What’s wrong?!!!! Sylvia the MOFO 200000?!!!! Brandon Vera 100000?!!!! This is seriously BS!!
I will lose a lot of respect for Franklin if he continues with ufc. I like franklin. I still like him if he loses to silva another 10 times. There is no shame in losing to silva. But to be spineless and stick with an organisation that treat u so bad is downright ‘balls-less’!! I think that’s why dana was so supportive of franklin in post-fight press conference (Dana always likes idiot eg. Chuck). Franklin is so cheap, I will even sign him to just bring me coffee.
Franklin, please wake up that u r being abuse. Get out of UFC! If he re-sign with ufc, they have to give him a better deal! Franklin put asses on the seats!
Silva should make more in his next fight as he is much more well known now and he is able to attract crowd now from ufc 77 onwards. I hope he will re-negotiate his contract and get paid more.
Vera…. I always know that this guys is overrated. He fought cans at the begining and get easy wins. Now the only slightly ‘not-s0-cans’, he lost. Vera 100000 definitely too much! Dana, he ain’t worth it, ok?!
Sylvia…. 200000…. I don’t know what to say. I actually just don’t know. Please say something, someone else!! Ridiculous?! F**ked up?!! It’s all understatement! Franklin should just quit ufc base on the fact that sylvia earn more than him. Dana, you need to re-negotiate sylvia’s contract and donate the extra money to charity. What on earth are u thinking?
Yea they may have stiffed sylvia a little…but hey….. it s the ufc!!
Rich is still getting screwed. No wonder Dana has said Franklin is a team player for them. He lets them bend him over. When Bonnar is making just about as much something is wrong. I don’t know how many more fights Anderson has left on his contract but he deserves a raise. Even Brandon makes twice what Rich does which is wrong. Rich has been their poster boy for years and been champion what has Vera accomplished to make that? I guess holding out payed off for him maybe Franklin needs to do the same or go to Elite or M-1.

Franklin got stiffed not Sylvia. Tim probably is making more than he’s worth.
@mad
yea ur right…45 measly thousand dollars for someone who used to be one of the household names. Ufc is weird!
YO DOC… HOW MANY FIGHTS ARE LEFT ON RICHS CONTRACT
@All,
The “issue” with Rich Franklin is that he unfortunately signed a 7 fight contract just before the UFC “blew up.” At the time, the money he signed for was good money, but now a year-and-a-half later, things are much different in the MMA world.
Rich has acted like a professional and honored his contract and not tried to publically redo his deal before it ends, and I’m sure the UFC is taking very good care of Franklin with bonuses. I believe that this might have been Rich’s last fight on that old contract; if not he only has 1 fight left on it.
That’s good to know. I like Rich and think he deserves to be paid like the rest of their stars. He’s a classy guy and a fan favorite. Now that it seems he can’t beat Silva and regain his title maybe he will give Elite or M-1 a try.
but it must suck rich has a good record has beaten some very tough opponents but will never beat silva ever ever ever ever ever ever,but do any of u guys think me might move up a weight class at 205 he has before
I don’t see how moving up to 205 would solve Rich’s problem. He’d just be a small LHW and wouldn’t be able to contend w/ the top of that division.
Do you people do not understand that those fighters have signed contracts where they agreed on the amount they will get paid?
Now after those contracts are over, they can re-negotiate. Most of these people signed the contracts when they were not known and so they were very happy with them.
@Doc
Can you get any numbers on how much to UFC made in Pay-Per-Views and Sponsorship?

Ozzy,
The UFC does not provide these numbers and since they are not a publicly traded company, they are not required to by low.
About Rich, after the latest fight, i would agree that Rich cant beat Silva.. atleast while hes still in his head. Its pretty obvious that Rich got spooked about halfway through the 1st round and if your afraid of the guy, you cant beat him man. Its a tough break for Rich, but i still think he should continue his carreer in the UFC, someone else could beat Silva, then Rich might get to fight a fresh opponent in some title shot down the road. I mean, Rampage couldnt beat Wandy, but he toughed it out, now hes the UFC champ, he would have still been with Pride if it was still around. Running is not the answer guys. Running to other weightclasses, or other organizations, hes gotta grind it out.
BVRASP,
I’ve always known u r a big franklin supporter. I remember u defended franklin when majority of people feel silva will beat franklin again in previous postings. No problem with that. I respect where u stand and obviously u still think franklin has a chance to beat silva in their third meeting (if ever) by the fact that u mentioned if silva is not in franklin’s head. That’s fine by me too even though I thought that at this stage, u would think differently.
But I disagree with u about ‘running’. Do u think moving weight class is running? I think u should make opportunity, not just wait for opportunity. I think moving up weight is tough for franklin as he will be a small LHW. But he should seriously consider dropping wt if possible. I think he should try himself without having to announce it to the world. I like franklin and I hope he will do well in his future endeavor. And he definitely needs to get paid more.
JSPjitsu,
U sound really smart about the contract thing…… Wow, what would the world do without u? Hmmm?!!
I have a different thought from yours. Nothing is ever set on stone! Ask youself where do u stand? Consider the pros and cons. Can u afford this ‘fight’? Consider your options. There is always room for negotiation. What’s your leverage? If u just sat there and don’t fight back… then u r irrelevant. Everybody takes advantage of someone… fight for youself! Franklin should definitely re-negotiate. Unless his agent is useless or he simply don’t have a lawyer. I’m looking forward to see u posting to defend yourself?
naw Hero, im not gonna abandon Rich because he lost badly again. I still think its a mental barricade that he could someday overcome. He looked good early man, he was sticking and moving and dictating the pace. Then in the clinch he started getting that look in his eye like he was gonna sht his pants. I really though that anxiety wouldnt be a problem for him, kind of like GSP overcoming his fear of Matt Hughes. I was really disappointed when i saw that.. i mean, if Rich had the mentality of.. lets say Heath Herring, he would have definately done better in the rematch and yes i still think he can win… if he hinks he can. As a fighter, he has all the tools to do it man, and ill stick by that.
I would consider it running.. unless he can make 170, which i doubt. I mean im sure he COULD if he REALLY wanted to, but he would lose alot of his power and who knows what his conditioning would be like. 205? no way.. he doesnt belong at 205, i dont think i need to explain why. Hes well suited to MW and thats where he belongs in my opinion. The next TUF show wil be 16 MW fighters, so that should drum up atleast a little more competition in the division. If Hendo drops down, Rich and Anderson both will be in big trouble. Hes got more power in his hips than ANYONE pound for pound in the world.
LOL RICH AT 170 THAT WOULD BE PRICELESS….
come on guys what about couture after he beat liddel once he lost to him twice then retired stayed out of the game for almost a year came back but in a higher weight class then demolished the biggest guy the ufc has ,so telling me that rich wouldnt do good in 205 isnt so crazy crazyier things have happen ie sylvia vs couture
ya, your right Richard, stranger things have happened.. but look at the amount of talent at 205. I mean, if he cant get past Anderson, how well could he do at 205? i just dont think it would be a smart move.
but didnt u at least think what randy was thinking at first i know i was
but didnt u at least think what randy was thinking at first i know i was
i dont really know what your talking about here richard hehe who are you responding to?
@BV
This has happened before from Richard and Gatties, usually they have had a bit too much Nyquil …. lol KIDDING GUYS
LOL you a denis leary fan Kansas?
it was to u bvrasp ,im just saying the first time u heard couture vs sylvia didnt u at least for a second think if he cant even beat liddel what makes him think hes gonna beat 6′8 265lb sylvia
KANSAS
i take offense being compared to gatties LOL
ah ok Richard, that makes sense.. ya i definately thought that. Thing is, Randy is an anomaly, we cant compare other people to him. Like sometimes people say, the guys only 36 and he wants to retire, Randys 44 and hes the champ. Not everyone is Randy Couture and Richs main problem is his mental state, moving up is a bold move and hes sure to lay an egg even thinking about it hehe
rich has to do something cuz the ufc aint gonna want a guy that beats up on there up and coming fighters
who knows Richard, maybe one of those new guys could put the hurt on Franklin, which would look great for the TUF guys. Rich has shown that he can be overwhelmed when someone puts the pressure on him.
DOC…DO U HAVE ANY IDEA LIIKE WHAT THE UFC TOTALLLY GROSES MONEY WISE LAST YEAR AND WHAT THEY MIGHT HIT THIS YEAR WITH ALL THEIR PPV EVENTS AND GATE PRICES AND STUFF???? WHICH FIGHTER DO YOU THINK IS GONNA MAKE THE MOST??
No idea what the Zuffa makes as a company on the UFC. They are a private company and don’t have to file public SEC filings like regular corporations. Between TV deals, sponsorships, PPV revenue and live gate revenue there is no telling what their total profit is per year.
As far as fighters, I would say that Chuck Liddell is probably their highest compensated fighter at the moment, if I had to guess.
