Randy or Dana? You Decide

October 25th, 2007 | by Dr J

Randy vs Dana

For those who have not chosen to “take sides” in the Randy Couture vs the UFC issue, today could be a tough day for you.

Randy Couture announced earlier this week that he would hold a press conference today at 4:30pm EST to address the media and answer questions regarding his resignation from the UFC. EliteXC will carry the press conference live today for all to enjoy.

Not wanting to be outdone, Dana White has scheduled his own conference call today, supposedly to announce a “new” television deal. Brock Lesnar, Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva will all also be on the conference call to answer questions. Naturally the UFC call starts at 4pm EST and Yahoo! Sports will air the audio from the call live on their site.

So, the choice is yours. Catch the UFC call or Randy’s press conference? My guess is you can do both. Most of the “important” information (if there really will be any) on the UFC call should be done by 4:30 and you can just jump over to ProElite.com and catch Randy rip Dana a new one at 4:30.

While we’re posting funny photos today, I know you guys will love this one:

Well, there won’t be any video of the UFC all since its just a conference call: only audio on Yahoo.

I’m sure ProElite will leave the video up for a few days for people to watch though.

I’ll do my best to find both and post them here as well if I can.

I’m with Randy on this. Dana’s been hardballing people for quite some time and it’s great to see Randy take a stand.

Lol, I knew that Randy was having his conference today and all of a sudden I found out Dana was too. What are the odds? what a sleazy PR move.

I’m not able to get registered in time to catch the conference. Can someone let me know any interesting details when you have a chance?

well Danas call just ended.. wow! the comment that stuck out to me the most in that call was this..

Dana White: “Fedor Sucks!”

For a second i thought it was our own Patrick posing as Dana LOL

They had Chuck, Wanderlei and Brock ready to answer any questions, and 75% of the broadcast was just talking about money and alot about Randy.

Some other good stuff, news about TUF series, they already have projections and plans for the next 6 years man lol. They said there would be 12 UFN programs per year for the next 3 years. WHAAAT! then ofcourse they chimed in and said it was a mistake, and it will be 12 UFN in total, so 4 per year for 3 years… pretty standard.

good stuff im gon check out Randys now heh

I missed most of Randy’s, but what I did hear was that he has no intentions of fighting anywhere else…and that reconciling with the UFC wasn’t out of the question. He wants to focus on his team and movies for the most part. The straws that broke the camel’s back was the amount of money they were going to give Fedor and the fact he never got a bonus for the Gonzaga fight, and the fact that the Fertitas and Dana completely ignored his concerns weeks before he handed in his resignation.

you summed up Randy conference pretty well Max. Ive now watch both of them and there was 1 really big inconsistancy. Randy says he told all this to Dana and Lorenzo 6 weeks ago, but in Danas call, he says he doesnt even know whats bothering Randy. I find that pretty hard to believe.. Im sure Dana knows what the problem is but just doesnt want to get into it, especially regarding the money thing. He wanted to have his call and talk about chuck, wandy and brock and future plans the UFC had. Dana also said that he doesnt plan to even watch Randys conference, for a guy who doesnt know whats bothering one of his fighters, he doesnt seem very interested in finding out either…

Sad day for mma..

It’s all just a mans soap opera… whatever… on to greater things like December 29th the next decent card available to watch forget about UFC 78 where the two TUF guys ‘get it on’ ….sigh….. whatever…..

I’m for Randy for sure. Randy seems honest. RESPECT is one very important thing in life. The strongest word that randy used was ‘unappreciated’ by Zuffa.

Dana just thought that he controls and owns everything in the world of MMA. Trust me, Dana is one of those boss that u never want to work for.

If u ever work a job that u truly like and genuinely feel that u have work hard for a company and at the end of the day u feel unappreciated…. that’s hurts! I would personally leave a company to work for another if I feel that i’m being ill-treated. Money is not even going to be an issue.

Randy quit. I don’t take the side of a quitter.

GO DANA!!!

By the way last Thursday, I gave no sh*ts about either big presser. I was too busy eating a lovely steak my wife grilled up for me.
