David Terrell Off UFC 78 Card** BREAKING NEWS **
** BREAKING NEWS **

You will never be able to believe this, but against all odds, David Terrell has been scratched from the UFC 78 fight card because of, get this, an injury!

I know, I could hardly believe it either. I mean David Terrell is injured before an upcoming fight and has to pull himself off the fight card?!?! You have to be kidding me. Next thing you know hell will freeze over and pigs will start flying.

Don’t say I didn’t tell you all this would happen more than a month ago.

Rich your opinion please which is better:

Fighting with an injury like Shogun did with Forrest and losing in the process, (at which point jack arses state that it makes no difference shouldn’t fight injured your problem a loss is a loss).

OR

Pull out due to injury and only fight when your healthy so there is nothing to fall back on after a fight but you disappointed some fans, (generating comments like this fighter or that fighter is a *****)?

Comment by MMAKansas about 1 year, 1 month ago

I prefer they pull out if injured because I know that if Shogun was in full throttle and shape and healthy, there is no way Forrest would have beat him… we could argue all night but Shogun was injured… I think he should have pulled out and gotten the surgery and waited to debut in January instead…

Comment by MMAKansas about 1 year, 1 month ago

I am sure if had pulled there would be a few people here calling him a ***** though…

Comment by jjdnb about 1 year, 1 month ago

I have no problem with a fighter pulling out because of injury but they have to be careful when they do it because it could cost them title shots (that they might never get a chance at again…Karo) or the UFC might just decide not to fight them anymore.
And yes that is the longest sentance in the world.

There is a difference between pulling out of a fight once and pulling out of a fight over and over again. David Terrell, I mean cmo’n the guy used to be one of the up-and-coming stars of the division back in the day before he got spanked by Evan Tanner. He never fights on a regular basis and keeps pulling the same routine. Btw, there’s no tellling what kind of “injury” he has, so if it is some ******** injury that most fighters fight with, you guys can’t say “it’s ok for him to pull out”.

I see wheere you guys are coming from, its a double edged sword, you drop out because of injury, it looks bad. You go ahead and fight injured, you likely lose the fight, then be considered a ***** when it comes out you were injured. Even if you dont say it yourself, the press will dig it up, then ask you about it and if you say yes i was injured, they take it as an excuse blah blah..

Yes all fighters train injured, but its the degree of injury man. If you have a sprained big toe or something, its something you could still fight, though it would definately affect your performance. If you have a sprained knee… uhhh.. no.. lol.

In the case of Terrell, im sure its a serious injury, probably from his many recurring injuries, at this point, he should really consider retiring. It sucks, but when that happens, you just dont have the tools anymore to be competative.

Yeah, I agree BV, especially when you DON’T have the tools to be the champ… just get out of there, I mean if your injured and you have the cash… go… enjoy what you’ve earned and quit being a disappointment to your fans..

ya Kansas, eventually everyones gotta hang it up, not necessarily because of age, but more like mileage. Look at Saku, he achieved alot at his prime, but now, without even 1 good leg to stand on, he doesnt belong in the ring, cage or whatever. Especially after that bad performance against Royce, who shouldnt have been there either! hehe.. theyre great champs man.. but theyre done.

yes sir my boy Nick “Puff Daddy” Diaz will whoop KJ Noons asss to become the first ever EliteXC light weight champ. also im a bit curious to see Kimbo vs. Bo CANtrell. it looks like they trying to show how Kimbo can knock someone out but what ever it’ll be fun to watch.

I SEE MIR SUBMITTING LESNAR VERY QUICK.. GO MIR….
GO DIAZ

Comment by MAD about 1 year ago

I was kinda suprised that they gave lesnar someone like Mir first. I thought they would give him some easier opponent to let him get some experience. I think Mir will sub him out also. I’m sure it will be a good fight but I think Mir has the ground game to beat him. Diaz should have little problem with KJ unless his ego gets the better of him and he starts thinking he’s a better boxer. If the fight goes to the groung Diaz should be able to get the win. I’m not sure what Bo Cantrell has as far as a ground game but that’s probably the best game plan. Kimbo has been training so maybe he picked a few things up. I still think it will be a couple of years before he can be a real threat to true MMA fighters.

My best friend is a Doctor and an MMA lover, he pays every month, and we have had MMA “parties” every month for the past 2 years, but he is NOT ordering UFC 78, we will hit the sports bar for this one, use the $40 bucks to buy wings… lol

I don’t know… Lesner has trained with Gracie in Cali and with Militech… so he might not go down as quick as everyone thinks.. matter of fact he may over power Mir then take down and G N P.. who knows though .. kind of a waste to sign him then put him with a guy that can beat him first fight out…

diaz has great boxing but no real power,if u look at the gomi fight diaz was giving gomi some great shots but couldnt knock him down but if u look at the shots gomi was chucking then u see power vs technique, but anyway i still am a diaz fan i predict some kind of submission in the first round.

is lesnar going to be fighting mir?

Comment by bvrasp about 1 year ago

I agree with you there Kansas.. I dont think it will be “easy” for anyone to submit Lesnar. Even without roids it not hard to tell the guys a powerhouse. With his world class wrestling and whatever he managed to learn in mma so far hes a real threat to anyone. In the standing game we can assume he is unskilled, but if he connects with a hook or something.. it will HURT! plus hes shown to have a solid chin against body slams hehe im pretty sure it would hold up to punchs too, as long as he keeps his jaw tight.

I dunno guys, Lesnar has a pretty good chance of winning this fight.

I might have to go with Lesnar in this fight guys.. seriously. Hes definately the underdog, simply because of lack of experience, but hes not a rookie when it comes to competing.

The #1 factor here is the conditioning.. in Lesnars mma debut, it didnt last very long so we couldnt see what his gastank is like. We all know what Mirs about, what hes capable of and what hes not.

Assuming theyre both in good shape, i can see a short feeling out period, then Lesnar will close the gap and clinch. Lesnar will get the takedown, defend an armbar, defend a triangle, then GnP like Kansas said.

it sounds like a bunch of you guys are a bit hesitant to get on the Lenar band wagon. im not one to shy away from looking dumb so here we go… Lesnar will destroy the washed up Mir and over the next year or so becomes somewhat of a “real” mma fighter and i think he will hold the title at some point (ok i know, but bare with me) like many people have stated the UFC is built for wrestlers most good wrestlers do very well in the UFC (Sherk, Hughes, Couture) because of the rule set. Brock is an insanely good wrestler and he is a beast. a vet like Mir should be able to beat a rookie like Lesnar fairly easy, but how hard is it going to be to contend with Brock size, speed, and power. i am jumping on the Lesnar bandwagon now and win, lose, or draw i will be rooting for him (hoping he doesnt turn out to be another boring wrestler) flame on flamers.

I don’t think Lesnar could pick up enough submission defense in that short time to be able to not get caught. Mir looked pretty impressive his last fight and even looked in shape for the first time in years. Brock will have to take the fight to the ground which will be to his disadvantage. He is big and powerful but we all know that strength and size doesn’t win fights skill and technique usually do. Unless he fights like Sherk a lay and pray artist he will have trouble winning this fight. If he ends up on the bottom he’s in trouble Mir has some slick submissions. I have to go with technique and experience on this one.

Comment by MAD about 1 year ago

They should have given him a Jake O’Brien or something to make him look good in his debut.

I train BJJ at a Gracie school also and you do pick up a lot but using it in a combat situation against a real black belt is a different story. I guess we will see what he has learned because he will need it. I’ve been training for a little over ten months and have a blue belt and I’m working on obtaining my purple belt but BJJ takes time. In a year unless they are giving belts away he’s probably only a blue belt himself. His size is his biggest stength but most of that is nullified when the fight hits the ground. I’m not saying Mir will take him easily but I think experience wil make the difference. If he does get subbed out easy the UFC wasted a lot of hype on him. I think they should start him out a little slower and let him get some experience before they give him top guys.
