- Brian Knapp at TheFightNetwork is reporting that Nick Diaz will undergo plastic surgery “to repair the considerable scar tissue that has developed around his eyes.” According to Diaz’s training partner, Kit Cope, “‘He didn’t get hit with anything hard. It’s just that he’s got some gnarly cuts. There were a couple of fights [in his past] where he got cut and then band aided it, you know … didn’t get any good stitches, so he’s got a lot of scar tissue. You breathe on the guy, and he gets cut.”
- Rumors are running rampant this morning that highly sought after light heavyweight Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou might make his UFC debut at UFC 79 in December. The rumors are based on an interesting comment Sokou made during an interview with HACNews where he stated: “…And I’ll be back not in the ring but in the cage DEC 29th in Vegas!”. At the moment, the only known MMA event held in a cage currently scheduled for December 29th in Las Vegas would be UFC 79.
- It appears that UFC president Dana White is backing away from statements he made earlier regarding current UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk retaining the title regardless of the result of his CSAC suspension appeal. During the UFC 78 press conference call yesterday, White stated: “I’ve said since the beginning that I believe in Sean Sherk, but we have to support the athletic commission in whatever decision they make. B.J. Penn and Joe Stevenson are going to fight for the interim title. We’ll see what happens with Sherk. If Sherk is found guilty, we’ll support the [California] State Athletic Commission and he’ll probably be stripped of his title. If not, then he’ll keep his title and it will be champion vs. champion.”
- Looks like the UFC has made good on its claims, and has offered Randy Couture a fight against Antonio Nogueria at UFC 81 on Super Bowl weekend in February. White made the announcement during yesterdays conference call and said that they haven’t officially heard back from Couture yet but would hopefully have his final decision by the end of next week.
I hope Randy accepts the fight with Big Nog. It would be a shame for his career to end the way it is now. He’s had such a great run this year and the fans don’t really care about the contracts or anything they just want to see Randy in action again. I’m glad they are going to strip Sherk if he is found guilty. It’s only fair considering they stripped Tim for it. I think BJ will have the belt anyway so Sherk can work his way back up for a shot. Diaz should have something done he does cut way to easily. His eyes look bad before the fight even begans. Thierry in the ufc would be awsome. He’s showed some real promise with his wins over top talent. Seems the UFC is paying the best right now so it would make sense for him.

wow! some good news here. I was wondering what was next for Sokoudjou, he couldnt have made a better decision than coming to the UFC. Great stuff!! cant wait to see him fight in the cage!
The Sherk thing, sounds like Dana finally got his head out his azzz and will accept the athletic commissions ruling. As it should be..
Randy vs Nog is a great fight man, next best thing to fighting Fedor. If Randy doesnt take this fight then hes an idiot. Or…. maybe hes scared of Nog?? lol
randy wants to fight the best and even though big nog didnt show his best in his last fight hes still the number 3 or 4 guy in the world. Why would dana kinda be back tracking all of the sudden?maybe sherk had a talk with him ,maybe coming clean?
hey, if Randy gets past Nog, then he can cry about Fedor.. until then, put the gloves on and go to work!
Randy screwed up and people are already starting to forget him… seriously.. because he brought this on himself, I mean 4 weeks ago he was the hottest thing MMA had going, he was an ICON he was the NEW LEGEND… now he is a whiney beeeeotch that didn’t get the extra cookie with his millions…
It would behoove him to take the Nog fight and repair his image… then retire a NEW LEGEND, and an ICON… continuing his movie deals ect.. right now nobody is gonna sign him for new movies because they only wanted him for being an MMA champion and legend, not a whiny has been.. you know Michael Jordon got more money in endorsements than for playing basketball…. he wasn’t even the highest paid player during his peak with the bulls… but he never shook the boat because ….. HE WAS IN THE BOAT and the BOAT was his lifeline and without Basketball he would have no endorsement… Randy needs to wise up and realize that WITHOUT the UFC he has nothing else..

Great post Kansas.. i agree 100%. He was on top of the world man, even if he just decided to hang it up, he would still have been the man.. Fedor or not! Even if he fought Fedor and lost, he would still be the man! The only possible thing he could have done to fck up his carreer was what he did.
He opted to take the route of Ken and Frank Shamrock, maybe hes trying to do good for the sport, but history shows us what happens to crusaders.
Yesiree BV… I never thought about it, but yeah, shunning the UFC and co. will end you up fighting in the Elite XC in a one fight contract.. lol

Hes also jeopardizing his legend status in a way. Real mma fans will alwyas remember Randy, but if the UFC blacklists him, it WILL tarnish his rep. Look what happened to Ken Shamrock, im sure the TUF show helped bury Kens rep, probably using only the clips that made him look like a douche bag. In reality, hes a pioneer in the sport and they LOVED him in japan. Now when you hear the name Shamrock, its probably said as a punchline..
The same could happen to Randy, not that the UFC has to bad mouth him, they just simply wont show his fights, they wont have special shows all about Randy. They wont even talk about or make reference to Randy Couture.
Whens the last time you saw the UFC do a special about Ken Shamrock? or have anything positive to say about Ken? they basically clowned that guy and if hes not careful, they could do the same with Randy. Hes just a fighter man, they control what goes out on the air, they hold all the cards..
you gotta play ball man.. thats how it is, not just in mma but in every aspect of life. Dont go against the grain man.. dont make waves, and as you said Kansas… dont rock the boat!!
Yeah BV check out Kens pics on his profile on the UFC website, its all picks of him getting his butt kicked or of him showing man love to of all people Tito Ortiz… talk about disrespecting a legend, and they can do that to anyone…
They did the same thing to Gracie….
They did the same thing to Gracie….
The history is there, best thing for Randy right now, if he comes out and says, i had a brain ****, or i fired my hollywood manager or whatever. He could step up and sit on his throne, as Dana said, they would be willing to get past the incident that happened and move on.
lol, its kind of funny, i just checked out the UFC Hall of Fame and the only guys there are Ken Shamrock, Royce Gracie, Randy Couture and Dan Severn.
Except for Dan, it looks like all the UFC Hall of Famers got blacklisted by the UFC.
Yeah BV I posted that on the original Randy vs Dana thread like a month ago… I checked that out… and even Severn did an interview last week saying he doesn’t like Dana, or the way the UFC is being run.. he even cut down the Fertitas in that interview…. AMAZING….
