are you kidding me who voted Serra/Hughes? Gatties did you vote twice? dont get me wrong i wanted to see Serra vs. Hughes too but the other option is so much better. Serra/Hughes was going to be a man-love humpfest and GSP/Hughes is going to be a fight. i wanna see a fight.

So far 2 votes for Hughes-Serra.

The first was by a guest and the 2nd was by a regular here at MMA HQ.

I’m not going to reveal his name - he can do that if he wants to or you all can figure it out on your own. And it wasn’t Gatties, btw…

Patrick i just voted Hughes-Serra just to stuff it to you!! LOL

but you have to read the question carefully.. it says..

Which fight would you rather see at (((((((((((UFC 79?))))))))))

I was looking forward to seeing Hughes beat up Serra after all the smack talk hes been doing. Then after he beat Serra he would fight GSP as the champ and to be fair it would also give GSP more time to train for Hughes. Even tho he trains all the time, its more intensive when you know your facing Hughes and its for the title. This was a bit short notice for GSP and hope there are no excuses after its over..

So thats why i say Hughes Serra would have been better because we would have definately seen him fight GSP later anyways. This bit of hype they built up around Serra and the trash talking has finally led nowhere and if the fight DOES happen later, it wont be as fresh as it is right now.

Hey remember last year, i think you said somthing about me.. zzzzzzz

LOL Patrick, i mean if Hughes said to Serra “i remember what you said last year”. Meaning the moment has passed and he probably wont even care by that point. If they fight now, Hughes will be more, for lack of a better word, angry with Serra and more determined to put the hurt on him during the fight.

Patrick you saw all those ((((((( )))))) that i put around UFC 79? i meant the critical part of that question was the UFC 79 part, in other words the timing. This was going along with my whole point of the animosity between Hughes and Serra cooling off if they fight at a later event.

You wouldn’t be saying that if he knocked out Hughes as well.. hehe then it would dispel the “fluke” calls…

HOWEVER, Serra sucks and wouldn’t have won, so GSP HUGHES 2 basically gets rid of the fluke idiot, and gets down to who our REAL champ is gonna be because Serra vs either of these two, wont go down like GSP vs Serra did … his 15 minutes of fame are over, nobody will ever underestimate him again and he will never win against the top guy again…

GO GSP!….

Don’t worry, I just cast my vote for Serra/Hughes.

I’m also voting for Ron Paul in the Republican primary and most likely the Libertarian candidate at the general election, assuming Paul doesn’t get the Republican nomination.

Yeah Patrick, I don’t usually go there with the names, but I have to agree with Hughes’ latest blog, Serra is one of those guys who don’t last, he will screw up, lose two in a row, and because of his lack of marketability and good personality, he will be gone… done…. so yeah I agree with that assessment and would have to say for all intents and purposes, Serra’s not a top ten fighter, wouldn’t even put him in the top 15…he is a one hit wonder in my opinion, whereas guys like Hughes and GSP are REAL fighters, both deserve top 5 status, and both will be around for a while yet..

NICE POINT RICHARD…

Serra backed out because he is scared of Hughes, that simple. Serra’s record is garbage, no one worth a second thought besides GSP. When he initially stunned GSP he couldnt even connect except to the back of his head, amazing considering he only has a reach tantamount to that of a midget. Very poor stand up skills. He won by luck which we should not take that away from Serra but we should point out reality: it will never happen again and Hughes or GSP will easily crush Serra. For god’s sake do you people forget that not to long ago Serra was caught again by “Mr. Internationale’s” spinning back punch, which almost knocked him out for a second and even more embarrassing time. Serra is simply out classed, he is a middle of the road fighter. No offense to Serra but he just does not have the genetics or athleticism which allow such well trained athletes to excel to the top, which is true about most of us.

In addition, for as much crap talking Serra did all season the last thing he should of done is puss out. We listened to his annoying, whinning, and insecurity all season. Personally i feel he just wanted to keep his belt for a little longer and he knows this is the only way to accomplish that. Either Hughes or GSP will crush him. Serra is not even in the top 15. Here is a little more info for everyone, the Gracie who trained Serra and gave him his black belt is the same Gracie who stated he was unable to submit Hughes. Since Serra’s only strength is his ground game its not looking good for him. Outclassed

HOLY CRAP! Did you guys know that Dean Lister vs. Jordan Radev is on the UNDERCARD?????

What the heck is the UFC doing putting Dean on the UNDERCARD??!!

They rarely put the Undercards on the ppv. you gotta get the DVD or go and watch “on demand” or go on Pancrase the next day…. bologna if you ask me..

MS is scared of that scumbad MH, i dont think so, he has a legit injury and i am sure he really wanted to get in the ring and defeat a so called champ who is great at beating men who are over40yr old, not to say MS would beat GHP again thats another story, but MS is great at defending from the bottom and yes he did get beat by SC, however, that was a long time ago and he was only a grappler back then

im not really sure what your talking about dude, can you fill me in. im assuming your trying to say Matt Serra is not afraid of Matt Hughes but im not really sure were the 40year old thing comes in to play.

RJ hes talking about when Hughes beat Royce, and SC is supposed to be Shonie Carter im guessing? anyways… I cant even express how much i wanted to see Hughes hurt that guy after all the crap he was talking on the show. I liked Serra till he started running his mouth, where does a B level fighter get off talking sht about a legend like Hughes? Just because he won a tournament and then beat GSP, hey man, anyone can win one fight, but theres a reason Serra was never even NEAR title contention years before. Theres also a reason why Hughes is the most dominant WW champ in UFC history.

Im not gonna sit here and say why Hughes would crush him, i just hope the fight happens in 08 so Hughes can let his elbows do the talking.
