  • A few fights are now being confirmed for upcoming UFC shows. UFC Fight Night 12 will feature they welterweight debut of Mike Swick taking on Josh Burkman. UFC 81 will feature the return of Nathan Marquardt as he fights Thales Leites, while David Heath will face off against Andre Gusmao. Gusmao will be making his UFC debut after running through the IFL ranks with a perfect 4-0 record as a member of the New York Pitbulls. UFC 82 will see the return of John Halverson as he takes on Jorge Gurgel this coming March in Ohio, as well as a match between Josh Koscheck and Dustin Hazelett.
  • Reports are surfacing that UFC 80 in Newcastle, England will be a Pay-Per-View event. This might be a bit of a stretch for the UFC, as UFC 81 is also a Pay-Per-View event that is scheduled for only two weeks later.
  • For you fans of MMA outside of the UFC, the Yarennoka event in Japan on New Year’s Eve will feature a couple of excellent matchup as Gesias “JZ” Calvancanti will match up against Shinya Aoki, and Hayato Sakurai will fight Hidehiko Hasegawa. Other possible fighters for the event include Ricardo Arona, Joachim Hansen, Gilbert Melendez, Luis Azeredo, Kazuo Misaki, Tatsuya Kawajiri, and Mitsuhiro Ishida. The card is expected to be headlined by a fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Hong Man Choi.

The Japanese must love their giants. Another worthless opponent for Fedor. JZ vs Aoki should be good, I have to go with JZ he’s been on a roll. Nate vs Leites should be a grappling war this fight could be a toss up.

I agree. I have no idea why some of these guys seem to stick around. Gurgel is high on that list for me. I think he’s back on this show cuz its a show in Ohio and they are trying to get the crowds, but to me that makes no sense because they would draw a sellout in Ohio anyways like they have for the past 2 shows there.

TRUE BUT IF YA THINK ABOUT IT… THAT WOULD BE THE SMART THING TO DO .. SET IT UP TO WHERE THE LONDON JUDGE IS THE ONLY ONE TO VOTE FOR THE AMERICAN THEN IT WOULDNT RAISE TO MANY EYEBROWS
