The Ultimate Fighter Season 6 finale provided quite and overall exciting show last night. Mac Danzig came away the winner of TUF 6 after easily defeating Tommy Speer by decision, while Roger Huerta won the main event in a hard-fought battle against Clay Guida.
- Roger Huerta vs Clay Guida - This fight lived up to my expectations and was an excellent, fast-paced fight from the beginning. Guida was happy to work his wrestling and take Huerta down as often as possible. After round 1 Huerta’s face was starting to show some signs of the damage he had taken from the bottom and suffered through more of the same in round 2. When the fight was on the feet, Huerta was able to land some good knees and kicks but was getting beaten on points heading into the 3rd round. After launching a flurry of knees, kicks and strikes, Huerta was able to submit a stunned Guida and finish off the fight. Excellent matchup between two excellent fighters; I’d love to see a rematch between these two somewhere down the line.
- Mac Danzig vs Tommy Speer - As I said in my preview, Tommy Speer simply did not have enough experience and technical skill to match up with a guy like Mac Danzig. Danzig beat Speer up before ending his night early in the first round via submission. Congrats to Danzig who will now drop down to the lightweight division and start his UFC career in earnest.
- Jared Rollins vs Jon Koppenhaver - This was the fight of the night in my opinion. Both guys were able to work some good ground-and-pound, with Rollins doing most of his damage from the bottom and Koppenhaver doing his damage from the top. Both guys showed great heart and battled through significant cuts to put on a show the fans could thoroughly enjoy. Koppenhaver, nearly on the brink of gassing out and losing the bout, was able to find that extra burst of strength and finish Rollins off in the third. Excellent fight and I’m looking forward to seeing both guys fight again in the UFC.
- I already couldn’t stand Richie Hightower heading into last nights Finale. The guy seems like a Josh Haynes type to me and doesn’t belong in the UFC. After last nights show I can’t stand the guy even more: what the heck is up with his self-appointed nickname - the “Dirty Samurai”??

It only registerd 4 of my picks.. out of i dunno how many it should have been, like 10 or something? out of the 4 i only got 2 right, netting me a total of 12 points.. really pissed me off since i only had 3 wrong predictions in the whole event.

yeah
The only fighter I was disgusted by was Dan Barrera. I haven’t seen so much inactivity on the ground since Jake O’brien vs. Heath Herring. Trully a dispicable performance.
I thought most of the fights were pretty good. Mac won easily like I thought. Warmachine impressed me with the heart he showed. I wish I would have been able to see the Dorian fight I knew Mitichyan was going to be good and Dorian’s ground defense really needs work. Guida vs Huerta seeded to live up to expectations. These guys bring it from bell to bell. One hell of a fight both guys giving their all. Guida can hang his head high even in losing after a fight like that. Now that Sherk has been stripped of his title Huerta should be given a crack at the BJ vs Joe winner in my opinion. Overall a good night of fights and some new guys to watch out for in the future. I don’t know if Mac is doing himself a favor by dropping to lightweight that division is so stacked right now it’s crazy. LW is definitely the most competitve in the UFC right now and most of the guys are still young. We should be treated to many more great matchups for years to come.

i would like to see Huerta get a fight with the loser of Penn vs Stevenson. that would give him a contender win and a better reason to give him a shot. the UFC and MMA in general would benefit a bunch from a more structured contender list, like unless Huerta has beaten all the other top guys then he should have to at least beat the number 1 contender. just the way i would like to see it.
