Yesterday, we posted how Matt Serra said he wouldn’t mind fighting Georges St. Pierre in Canada this coming April.
Well, last night Serra apparently confirmed to NBCSports.com that he will be fighting GSP in Montreal, Canada this April. According to Mike Chiappetta at NBCSports.com:
Matt Serra and Georges St. Pierre will meet for the UFC welterweight title during an April event in Montreal, Serra confirmed to NBCSports.com on Friday.
The Long Island native told NBCSports.com’s John Moody that his back has been rapidly improving and is excited about defending the championship, albeit in St. Pierre’s hometown.
Currently, the Montreal event is tentatively scheduled for the Bell Centre on April 19. This will most likely be UFC 83.

go gsp… whoop his ***
nice nice, UFC in montreal, that means Toronto isnt far off guys, i hope they have a show here sometime in 08.
Hey RJ, if the UFC comes to town are you there?? you know im there man! heh
with out a doubt man i will be there, me and my pops are gonna go. when my dad heard the UFC was coming he told me we’re going thats all there is to it and he said hes gonna cover the cost no matter what the price… yes its true i have the coolest pops known to man.
Ontario wont sanction MMA. You wont get UFC in T.O. cause technically UFC is actually an illegal sport according to provincial law
sick this is sick i’m def going to montreal to see this for sure.
you and Josh should come with me and pops, maybe well try to get Todd and Jon too we can rent a f*ckin bus lol.
I can’t wait for this fight! First ever decapitation in the UFC!! Serra doesn’t stand a chance. The only person capable of beating GSP right now is himself.
I dont think lightning will strike twice for Serra, i sure hope it doesnt atleast, because i wanna see Serra vs Hughes.
It’ll be years before professional MMA shows up in Ontario. They Athletic Commision in Ontario wants to legalize amateur MMA first. They currently have no regulatory body for MMA and they are waiting on the UFC in Montreal before they even create one. They need that body to start amateur MMA. Then they have to do studies on the safety of that before they legalize a professional MMA.
So roadtrips to Quebec and maybe Alberta are going to be required for awhile
right on man it sounds like we have another brother helping to fight the good fight. i urge you all, even if your not from Ontario to check out and support this website http://www.canadianmma.com/ remember kids the bigger the sport grows the better it will be for us fans. i would like nothing more than to goto Toronto to watch an event, sh*t even London (my home town) has a venue worthy of holding a UFC show.
