EliteXC continues their signing spree, this time inking a father-and-son combo to contracts.
ProElite announced they have signed father Ken Shamrock and son Ryan Shamrock to multi-fight contracts. Both fighters are scheduled to make their EliteXC debuts in March at Cage Rage 25 in London, England.
“We’re thrilled to have signed Ken and Ryan Shamrock,’’ said EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw, who made the announcement Monday. “Ken is one of the most recognizable and popular figures in MMA. He has fought the biggest and some of the most important fights in MMA history.
“Ken is responsible for putting MMA on the worldwide map and making it what it is today. I have the utmost respect for all the Shamrocks. Believe me, I have signed fighters with EliteXC and many more in boxing, but I can truly say I’m as excited about this signing as I have ever been.
“I’m realIy looking forward to seeing the Shamrocks in action.’’
Ken Shamrock fought at the very first UFC event and was also the promotions first Hall of Famer. Ryan Shamrock made his MMA debut last August, winning in the first round via submission.

I wouldn’t call signing Ken a big deal. He’s way past his prime now but Elite doesn’t have many light heavies that are good so he might do alright. I’m interested in seeing his son compete though.
same here. I dont know who would really be excited to see Ken fight at this stage of the game.
Dr J,
Whats the best way to get you photos? I’m going to attend the WEC on February 13th in New Mexico and have good seats. Hopefully I will be able to get some good pics from the event. There are always pro fighter that are not competing around so maybe I can get some with them. I thought I would send them to you to post if I get some good ones.
just email them to me at

Thanks man will do.
wow cool…. doc
do you think frank vs ken would even be worth it… or do you think frank would dominate him… and does zuffa not like frank or something?
Hopefully the aquisition of Ken is gonna help make the Frank vs Ken fight happen. Frank has a huge advantage ofcourse, but even if your not a fan of they Shamrocks, its still a big money making fight.
Who wouldnt want to watch that fight? brother vs brother. Im very interested in seeing those two square off, because as we saw with Baroni, Frank isnt afraid to stand with anyone, and all Ken has is standup, so it should be good!
I can seriously see Frank knocking out Ken in that fight. If not he will just submit him after beating him up for a while..
Ken is a grappler his stand up sucks. His best techniques are leg locks.
I do agree that Frank would win this fight either standing or on the ground.
I disagree, i dont think hes leg locking anyone these days. About 10 years ago when leg locks were not a part of the common mma training regiment, Ken had some advantage there, tapping out alot of guys.
These days, i guarantee you hes not leg locking anyone man. You seriously think Ken Shamrock could submit Frank by with a leg lock?
What he has going for him, is that hes got KO power and if he connects, he can hurt you. Hes got a punchers chance against Frank, plain and simple.
I never said he’s leg locking guys lately. I said it’s his best technique. KO power? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen him KO anyone. I said he would lose either way but giving him KO power is still a reach.
well i guess i agree with that, it is his “best” tecnique, and his favorite, but in the past 11 years he hasnt submitted anyone by leglock. Thats why i say, i cant see it happening.
I do believe he has KO power, though he doesnt have great boxing for it to be much use. His last KO was against Kimo, where he caught him with a knee.
But like i said, if he connects clean, thats his only hope of winning the fight, or ANY fight now that i think about it.
hes got a punchers chance.
So Corey Hill is fighting in another week on the 23rd vs Joe Veres. After about a year training at the Miletich camp, he sounds alot more confident and weve seen what Miletich did with Tim Sylvia.
They all expect big things from Corey, Pat said he should be the LW champ within the next 2 years. I personally dont think thats unreasonable at all, if hes training his azzz off like everyone at MFS says, he should deliver next week.
Veres isnt an amazing fighter, but hes nobody to sleep on either, i think hes a good test for Corey..
bv
watching the show corey didnt strike me as that talented
Patrick, the point is his SIZE, in the show he had zero mma training. He had a bit of wrestling in the junior div. i think. His talent, is his god given size, just like Sylvia, and his natural athleticism. Now combining that with some serious mma training which hes had at MFS for the past year, and he could be a monster.
If he works as hard as Forrest Griffin does in the gym, im sure all the hard work will pay off, i mean, hes got a full FOOT over some of the LW fighters like Sherk for example.
Pat Miletich made Tim Sylvia a champ, theres no denying that, if hes 100% dedicated to being a pro fighter, im sure he will have a great future ahead of him.
Look how well he did against Diaz, a guy whos been training in mma his entire life! he held his own for a while against the champ of the show, and he did it with no training! thats an accomplishment man.
yea bv good point… he has a god given size…. he could dominate
The thing is about Corey, he HAS only been really training for a year. You cant learn it all in a year hehe and according to Miletich he needs another good 2 years of solid training. So its not like hes gonna come into the cage next week as a fully trained fighter yet, but we should see ALOT of improvement.
If you look back at his fights on the show, forget about grappling, just his boxing skills, he didnt even have a good jab in his arsenal. The mechanics of his punches were all terrible, his movement wasnt deliberate for creating the distance and using his reach properly.
It will be very interesting to see how far hes come so far.
So its official guys, Frank Shamrock vs Cung Le on March 29th. You know what, after years of inactivity and bowing out of the UFC as champ, Frank Shamrock is finally taking some risks.
His fights with Renzo and Baroni have showed Frank to be back in the saddle and looking to prove himself as a Champion. Now taking on Cung Le, hes putting himself in the cage against a relatively new fighter and we have all seen how surprisingly good these new guys can be. Cung Le has already proven himself to be a skilled and exciting fighter.
Alot of people hate Frank, but i think hes slowly been redeeming himself, not just saying hes the best, but by stepping into the cage and trying to prove it.
Ofcourse im backing Frank in this fight, but it should be a very exciting fight!
id have to go with frank on this one…
