After a few weeks of rumor and speculation, it appears that a fight between Keith Jardine and Wanderlei Silva is nearing completion.

On his personal website yesterday, Wanderlei Silva announced that he would be signing the fight contract to face Keith Jardine at UFC 84 this May in Las Vegas.

I’m leaving right now to sign the Jardine fight contract and you are the first ones to know officially. I am starting to train hard again to be able to get the victory.

Wanderlei Silva hasn’t fought since last December when he lost to Chuck Liddell via decision. Silva will be returning to Xtreme Couture to begin training for the upcoming fight and notes he will be working specifically on his wrestling.

Keith Jardine’s last fight was also against Chuck Liddell; but unline Silva he was able to pick up a decision victory against the former UFC light heavyweight champion. Jardine continues to train with Greg Jackson’s camp in New Mexico.

UFC 84 is currently scheduled to be headlined by a lightweight title fight between current UFC champion B.J. Penn and former champion Sean Sherk. Also expected to be on the fight card are matches between Tito Ortiz and Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans vs Thiago Silva, and Jeremy Stephens vs Terry Etim.

Well here we go. another wandy fight… cool.. hope he doesn’t try to change from Muay THai to GnP wrestler because that would suck… he would be less aggressive and would end up getting subbed by great BJJ guys in the end, I think he just needs to go buck wild and put one on Jardine hehe

Well… guess he is going with Coutures gym…. needs to move up north and train with Shogun and Ninja or train with Anderson Silva… perhaps learning take down defense will help in the long run but he needs a win NOW.. can’t have another loss or I fear he wont get a contract extension or a re-sign so I think that he needs to go back to his aggressive roots… but he wont just yet and I don’t like Wandy’s gamble on training, I mean he is going to a gym of WRESTLERS and he is going to be fighting a guy who is a striker like him, and in my opinion not as good as Wandy standing, so why wouldn’t Wandy just go train with Hoost in Holland and then demolish Jardine in his token fashion???? This whole training regimen decision makes no sense to me guys… I am disturbed…. DOC or BV can either of you throw some light on this and help give me some confidence in this, maybe you can figure out why Wandys gone this direction????
