That strange saga that has become UFC 85 became even weirder yesterday.
The UFC has officially announced a fight between Roan Carneiro and Ryo Chonan. The UFC hinted it may add up to two more fights for UFC 85 bringing the grand total to 13 matchups.
However, one of those matchups may be in jeopardy as Chris Leben was arrested on a DUI charge last night in Oregon. Leben was detained overnight and denied bail due to violating his probation with the arrest. Leben is currently scheduled to fight Michael Bisping in a middleweight matchup.
** UPDATE **
It appears that the Leben story isn’t all bad. Apparently, when Leben learned he would be fighting in London, England he voluntarily flew from Hawaii to Oregon to turn himself in on the outstanding DUI charge.
According to TJ Thompson (president of ICON Sport):
When he got the call to fight Bisping on June 7th in London he knew what he had to do. He immediately flew to Oregon and turned himself in on the probation violation…. The moment he appeared before the judge after turning himself in the warrant was revoked and he is able to get his VISA for London.
So, apparently Leben is truly maturing and trying to make the best of his career by taking care of his past mistakes properly.

yeah, “truly maturing” is avoiding a probation violation until you absolutely HAVE to respond to it to continue your career. real smart move
yeah true enough, he could have turned himself in right off the hop. or better yet dont drink and drive. but sh*t happens and at least hes is owning up to it so maybe hes gonna learn a lesson.
dont you have a dui rj?
shut up d*ck lol. no i dont have A dui, i have two of them lol. but that was back when a was 17 and dumb as sh*t, i also have not driven a car in almost 12 years due to my past stupidity. and by the way im ok to go get my license as of last year, but im not going to i spent my whole life walking or jogging everywhere so why change now.
so anyways bro, whats up with you guys at the plant? it sounds like things are getting pretty f*cked up around there, moving people to days and walking people out. man like i told you find some new employment, or better yet lets get that gym up and running. i was working with the kids last night on some positions and submission defense and a little striking. Kota is awesome man everything i show that kid he picks up right away and does it well, he was born to fight man. hes gonna be my little champ someday, hes got such a smooth guard pass and his Thai boxing get better everyday, but i still gotta remind him over and over “chin down, hands up” when me and him spar together, because he knows im not going hit him back so he gets a bit wild, but what can you expect from a 6 year old.

I agree 100%. Seeing all these bloggers & writers state that this is a sign that Leben is maturing makes me sick. He only turned himself in because he knew there would be no way in hell he could travel to England with a warrant out for his arrest. So, he’s at the mercy of the judge right now.
Apparently Chris likes his chances with the judge but its not a slam dunk by any stretch.
good move Leben.
lol…all I gotta say
Yeah…. Dana White probably called him and dropped about 6 F Bombs telling him to get it done or else.. hehe
I still am picking Leben to KO Bisping in round 2 .. Go LEBEN!
im getting really anxious to see this fight i hope nothing else happens and these two get to go at it.
Doc,
Have they released the fighter payouts for the last UFC in Canada? I was just curious what franklin’s new deal is paying. Since it was in Canada the figures may not be available but I just wanted to check.
No, the salaries from Montreal are not going to be released publically.
this should be a good stand up war. Both fighters like to stand and bang. Leben’s chin has been tested more and we know he can take punishment so I guess we will see if Bisping can as well. I’ll go with Bisping he looked pretty good at middleweight and if the fight does happen to go to the ground he seems a little more athletic and transitions well so I give him an edge there. Hopefully they both stand toe to toe and swing till one of them falls. Should be a good matchup.
go leben!!!
Leben is looking really good in his mug shot. That’s a framer for sure!
rj in ur picture you kinda look like joey macintire lol
?? whos joey macintire ??
aww dude you have no idea how much it sucks to hear that, the last time i got that one was when i was in highschool (mind you it was a bonus for getting the girls) but it really sucked for a kid who was a boxer to be compared to one the the new kids on the block, when your trying to be tough the last thing you want is someone saying you look like a dude from a f*ggy boy band lol.
lol all right Doc i changed my avatar pic so whenever your ready to update so my pic will change, hint, hint, nudge, nudge. lol
I dont manually update them anymore. It happens automatically (looks like your new pic is up or me)
right on man i like my pic now, its me over looking the octagon. and if you look very close you’ll see a little tear in my eye lol i was so happy that day lol.
lol dude from new kids on the block
rj its still showin ur joey pic???
the pic i see is me sitting, looking back wearing a black hat and camo shirt holding a book, with the octagon in the background. i like that pic man its pretty much me and my wife and a bunch security guards in the Bell center, the place was so empty and calm you could hear a pin drop it was a bit weird seeing as like an hour later the place was totally wild.
