For those who haven’t had a chance to see Phil Baroni’s welterweight debut fight against Scott Jansen this weekend in Cage Rage 27 here is the video.
Baroni looked decent on the ground early on trying to work a submission. Once the fight was stood back up, Baroni returned to his specialty and laid Jansen out with a nice uppercut.
After the fight as Jansen was still lying on the mat, Baroni went over to check on his opponent when one of Jansen’s crew lunged at Baroni and head butted him in the face. In an unprecedented event, Baroni actually kept his cool and didn’t retaliate.

wow the new Baroni? i never thought i would put these words in the same sentence… Phil Baroni showed a lot of CLASS and RESTRAINT….. that was hard to type! i seen a clip yesterday from this fight but it only showed Baroni walking up and Jansen’s brother head butting him and then the clip ends, i heard that Baroni and Hammerhouse did nothing about it but i was a bit skeptical lol. that situation could have turned out very bad for Jansens camp and Cage Rage (in the media that is) if the Hammerhouse boys decided to do it like they did with the ChuteBoxe guys when Coleman fought Rua. its good to see the NYBA turn over a new leaf but its lame for Cage Rage to have a d*ck NON-FIGHTER come into the cage after and headbutt one of the fighters. did anyone else notice Jansen’s wife come into the ring and yap off to Baroni and flip him the bird? i guess his family was really looking forward to the win eh? lol
Ya i just watched it too.. talk about disrespect man.. guys like one of those soccer hooligans or something, when their team loses the feel the need to trash everyones car in the parking lot. Cry baby sore losers man, i think Baroni should have persued it, i think cagerage should persue it.
Fighters are a commodity, what if that guy ripped baronis eyebrow open or something and that cut reopened in a future fight? you cant have guys attacking fighters, its just sickening.
Sht! id like to see Jansen take some action there! if thats his friend or brother or whoever it was, kick his *** out the crew, apologize to Baroni, the whole 9.
without a doubt that guy should never be allowed inside the arena let alone the cage ever again. its hard enough to convince the haters the sports ok without douchebags like that making it even harder.
