Riding the success of their debut Affliction: Banned fight card, Affliction is ready to announce their second fight card will be this October at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV.

Affliction is ready to go head-to-head with the “giant” and invade the UFC’s backyard as they host an event at a venue the UFC has used several times in the past. The fight card, currently scheduled for October 11, will be headlined by a WAMMA heavyweight title fight between current champion Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski.

Fedor just recently won the WAMMA heavyweight title with his quick victory over Tim Sylvia on the Banned fight card. Arlovski also fought on the Banned card against Ben Rothwell who he defeated via KO in the third round of an excellent hard fought battle. Affliction VP Tom Attencio also hinted that both Paul Buentello and Josh Barnett would also compete on the October fight card.

Wow…that’s a hell of a fight. I still think a Barnett/Arlovski fight is more marketable to the U.S. audiences though…but hey..who am I to turn down another chance to watch Fedor compete?

hmm…I was kinda hoping they’d hold out for Randy, but whatever. This will be a great fight that people have wanted to see.

I think Fedor will beat Andrei rather easily. Andrei will be one of the best all-around fighters that Fedor has ever faced, Andrei’s background is in Sambo just like Fedor and Andrei has a KO victory over one of Fedor’s best friends and training partners, Roman Zentsov…so I expect some fireworks and a little extra motivation from Fedor.

But, them main reason I’m picking Fedor is that Arlovski has been KO’d a number of times before against lesser opponents, maybe that’s why he’s keeping that beard of his.

right f*ckin on! that should be a good one. i think Fedors got this one in the bag tough, like Amir said Arlovskis been KOed before (im not saying hes got a weak chin) and if you’ve ever shown a weakness in the past Fedor will take advantage and a suspect chin is not something you wanna show to a guy like that.

well fedor at least for the forseeable future is gonna be fighting a list heavyweights but i would still like to have seen barnett vs fedor now rather than later.

based on their friendship (Barnett & Fedor)…I’m not sure if they would fight each other unless it was absolutely mandatory.

i dont know if its just me or what but i would almost rather fight a friend as opposed to some one i dont know or dont like. i look at like combat sport like any other competition like basketball, road hockey, video games, or even Monopoly and these are all things me and my friends did as a kid. whether me and my buddies were boxing or playing poker all my friends know im trying to crush you, i have a very serious competitive side and most of my friends love the idea of beating me at anything and i see that as two people bring the best out of each other and that is a very good thing in any competition. it seems to me this friends not fighting friends is a bit of a trend and i hope it ends soon.

I know what you mean RJ, the spirit of competition is one thing, but at the pro level it seems like it could cause other problems. Its one thing to box a friend or wrestle a friend, but when your really trying to hurt them, cut them, put them to sleep, it might be a little harder. Ofcourse your both pros and you both know thats part of the game, but i could see it being tougher than fighting someone you dont care about.

Another thing is, its a 1 on 1 sport so if you win, your buddy would have to lose. As we all know your not allowed to lose too many times in the UFC, i think it would take away from the afterparty celebration knowing that your buddy not only got a beating, possibly putting him in the hospital, but also might have basically lost his job too.

So basically what im saying is, im sure theyre pros and when its time to fight a friend/brother they will have no problem doing that. Though, it would definately be preferable to not have to fight them unless its a last resort, nobody else left to face in the div or a champ vs #1 contender scenario.
