Matt Lindland recently confirmed in an interview with ProKarateWeekly.com that he will be fighting Jeremy Horn at the IFL show in Portland, OR on September 9. For true MMA fans this is a very intriguing matching that will match up to great ground tacticians. However, for the new TUF MMA fanboy this could be one of the most “boring” MMA fights in a long time.
While this is a huge fight and a great signing for the IFL, I wonder how a fight like this will translate to the IFL audience on the Fox Sports Net broadcasts. For new MMA fans coming to the sport, where their first exposure to MMA may be through the IFL broadcast on FSN, watching a Lindland vs. Horn fight may seem like watching paint dry. Without a good understanding of MMA and its fighters, I can easily see someone flipping right past this fight.
For us MMA “aficionados,” this is an excellent matchup. I believe the fight will take place at 185 lbs, not at 205 where Lindland just recently fought Quinton Jackson. I recently talked about Horn and is departure from the UFC, and it appears he has landed in the IFL. I do not know whether either fighter has a long-term contract with the IFL, or if this is just a one-fight deal for both fighters.

I like Horn a lot, but for some reason in this match up I think Lindland will prevail. I think its just that he brings more agression, and more strength. I think he pulls a majority decision. I can’t wait for this fight.
Lindland knocked Horn the F&%$# out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A big right hand… total domination from start to finish!!!!
