Reports are surfacing that Evan Tanner may fight Nathan Marquardt at the upcoming UFC 64 in October. The fight hasn’t been officially announced by the UFC yet.
Evan Tanner’s last fight in the UFC was a victory over Justin Levens by triangle choke at UFC 58 back in April. Since then Tanner has had several fights canceled due to either himself or his opponent pulling out of the fight.
Nathan Marquardt hasn’t fought since March at UFC 58, when he defeated Joe Doerksen by decision.
Both Tanner and Marquardt at top contenders in the UFC Middleweight division and there was some speculation that Marquardt was going to get the next title shot against Rich Franklin; however, that was before the UFC signed Anderson Silva
If Marquardt is able to defeat Tanner and Mike Swick loses to David Loiseau at this weekends UFC 63, he should be next in line to fight for the Middleweight belt, in my opinion. Either way, a Tanner vs. Marquardt matchup at UFC 64 should be a great matchup.
