Today's Mixed Martial Arts News and Analysis Headquarters

Tito Ortiz vs Ken Shamrock IIIWell, tonight is the night. UFC Fight Night 7 featuring the third and final fight between Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock. Normally I have a full breakdown and analysis of the fight card but I’m not going to do that for tonights event. I really don’t have much to say about this card and overall its not that exciting to me.

Tito vs. Shammy is just a waste of time in my book at this point. The UFC wants to play the angle that they are doing the MMA fans a favor by giving us this fight “on free TV.” In one sense, its good that they aren’t making us pay for a fight with a rather obvious outcome. On the other hand, this fight shouldn’t be taking place.

If you haven’t guessed, I have Tito Ortiz winning this fight rather easily.

The fight that I’m eager to see is the first televised fight of the night between Seth Petruzelli and Matt Hamill. Petruzelli is an excellent kick boxer and Matt Hamill is a world class wrestler. It will be interesting to see how these two match up and where the fight takes place. This will only be Hamill’s second MMA fight after he defeated Jesse Forbes at The Ultimate Fighter 3 finale in June.

The other televised fights, Kendall Grove vs. Chris Price and Ed Herman vs. Jason MacDonald do nothing for me. Where is Michael Bisping? I’d be more interested to see him fight.

Nathan Marquardt is also fighting on the card, but his fight isn’t scheduled to be televised. It’s really too bad… One of the best fighters in the division and he has gone from title contender to non-televised fight night card with no good explanation as to why. Also, Thiago Alves and John Alessio are going to fight on the undercard as well. That fight could easily end up being fight of the night.

This Saturday is UFC 64 and I will have my usual full preview for that event coming up in the next few days. But for now, enjoy you fights “free on live TV” tonight and sit tight for UFC 64.

not a very big surprise ortiz won. “chuck im comin’ for you next”. lol. ortiz knows exactly whats gonna happen when he gets in the ring with liddell, i dont think ortiz wants another *** beating from liddell, i think he’d rather avoid liddell altogether, he just wants his belt back.
