GracieFighter.com is reporting that Matt Lindlad has been offered a contract by the UFC to return and fight Anderson Silva for the Middleweight title.
Inside sources have informed us that the UFC has contacted Matt Lindland to face their new Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva. Lindland’s takedown skills and ability to take out top strikers have the UFC intereseted in a matchup between him and the Brazilian standup ace. After defeating Jeremy Horn and barely losing a razor thin decision to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Matt has become the hot commodity at 185lbs. There are 2 factors impeding the scheduling of this match. Number 1 is that Matt still has a fight left in his WFA contract. The second issue is money. So far the UFC’s offers have been considered less than generous compared to what the WFA and IFC have offered him. For Matt to fight in the UFC he will have to completely relinquish fighting in other organizations and he would like to be compensated accordingly.
There will be meetings between Matt and the UFC in the upcoming days to see if these issues can be resolved and if a Anderson Silva vs. Matt Lindland fight can become a reality.
Could this really be happening? Could Lindland be returning to the UFC after the long running dispute when he was “banished” from the UFC? I sure hope so.

Wonder what the IFL will say about this…there he’s a coach, would suck to walk out on his team.
I wonder about the timing of this. I guess this would be a way to “test” whether or not Anderson Silva is the champion we all saw him become on October 14th. I think that the UFC should bring Linland back and allow him to challenge for the title. I will once again put my prediction on the fight to the winner… Anderson Silva by submission or KO. Linland is a very strong opponent and is extremely difficult to control. I think this would be the perfect chance for the UFC to realize that things sometimes go completely against what has been envisioned. After linland then maybe Mike Swick……surely by then Swick will be ready for a title shot.
