Ever since the UFC’s purchase of the WFA and its fighter contract, we have been speculating on when Quinton Jackson would make his UFC debut and who he would fight. We recently received confirmation that his debut would be at UFC 67 but his opponent was still unknown. Last week, I posted the possibility that his opponent might be Sam Hoger, due to a very cryptic message Hoger has posted on his personal site.

Quinton Jackson

Well, the official word from Jackson’s camp is that Rampge will fight Marvin “the Beastman” Eastman at UFC 67, on February 3rd.

Sherdog.com is also reporting that Jackson has officially signed a two-fight deal with the UFC that will run through July 2007. After that, the UFC has the right to match any other offer from another MMA promotion that Jackson may receive.

Jackson’s manager also said that there are no expectations that Jackson will fight current Light Heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell before the contract expires in July.

chucks or titos days are numbered chuck cuz rampage is coming and if tito wins hes in double trouble cuz i heard if he wins then couture wants a shot

  2. Brian says:

As for saying that “Rampage” would beat either Ortiz or Liddell is an OVERstatement. Ortiz beat Jackson a long time ago and Liddell is twice as good as he was when he (Liddell) got beat by Jackson. The light heavyweight division is already very stong in the UFC and I’m sure that Rampage comes with a pricy tag. The UFC will wait and see, #1, if Rampage wins and wins in style, and then see what kind of Pay-Per-Views he pulls in. Then they will see about a “long-term” contract. Quinton is good for the UFC, but I’d still LOVE to see more Heavyweights from Pride come over. The UFC needs ‘em…

  3. richard says:

i honestly dont think i overstated anything rampage is also better than he was when he beat liddel even though silva beat him and beat him bad silvas style is way different than liddel rampage can strike and has a awesome ground and pound that i think liddel except for his take down defense cant **** with now ortiz is past his prime and has had a lot of injuries every time he has trouble with some one {griffin} he always has a stupid injury excuse and i think rampage would out wrestle him out and ko on the ground or stand up and ko him i would even go so far to say that if rampage dropped down to middle weight in the ufc he could possibly win that title i say possibly cuz he has trouble trying to defend muay thai knees rampage is an awesome athlete and im excited to see him in the ufc adn i to would like to see some better athletes in the heayweight division

  4. richard says:

rampage has also gotten better adn even though he got ko by silva silvas style is different than chucks and i think rampage would have a better chance than u might think against liddel now i think he would win.Now rampage against ortiz rampage is stronger and a better wrestler than ortiz so throw that out and rampage can strike better than ortiz so rampage would win that category also so rampage would win.Now im thinking out of the box on this one and saying if rampage drops weight he couold also get the belt at middleweight and the reason i say could cuz even though he just beat the number one ranked middlewieght in the world ranked by mmaweekly he has trouble defending muay thai knees anderson silvas strength so basically im saying is i think rampage is an awesome mma fighter and deserves a belt in the ufc

  5. MAD says:

I’m just glad that they gave him Eastman insread of Hoger. Nothing against Sam but he doesn’t have near the intesity or skill of Marvin, not to mention he is huge! With Rampage making his debut and I’m sure wanting to do so in impressive fashion it was probably a good move giving him a fighter that is capable of hanging in there and slugging it out. It’s in the UFC’s interest to make this an exciting enterance for their newest contender considering all the buzz surrounding the Liddell rematch already. Only a week away from the Tito and Chuck rematch and Shockwave. Looks to be a good week for MMA fans.

  6. bvrasp says:

actually i think Eastman already has a win over rampage..

  7. richard says:

he won him back in 2000 it was rampages first mma loss but he has grown since then and hopefully dominate when he makes his ufc debut

  8. Brian says:

Richard I can tell your a “die hard” MMA guy. We can battle back and forth on this, but we’ll have to wait until the fight comes. I think Rampage will destroy Eastman. I really don’t think he’ll last past the second round. Mark my words. Eastman is a good “debute” (sorta) for Rampage. Eastman will have problems. The UFC wants to make it a good fight, but you can bet they don’t want Rampage to loose. He’s a MONEY MAKER! But I’m still sticking to my guns on this. Liddell or Ortiz could beet him. Lets just hope we’ll get to see those days soon. Maybe in June??

Good chating with you Richard. Nice to see someone who knows what they’re speaking about. God Bless you and have a safe New Year!!

  9. richard says:

brian i hope u have a safe new year and i will be sure to rub it in your face when rampage beats liddel for his belt notice i said liddel cuz ortiz doesnt have a chance

  10. PATRICK says:

OH LORD LIDDELL HAS ALSO GROWN FROM HIS RAMPAGE LOSS COME ON PEOPLE RAMPAGE AINT ALL THAT WHEN IT COMES TO CHUCK …

  11. Amir says:

This is a very tough one to call. Rampage admits to not always being in the best of shape, especially the first time he fought and beat Chuck. Bad diet and training habits plagued him back then, but he says he is different now. Aftrer reading his recent interview, for some reason, he sounded like a beaten fighter to me. He talks about how he needs money and stuff. I wonder if he is still as explosive as he was and he if he was just brought in to go down to Chuck. I sure hope not. The top Pride guys, even though they lose every once in a while…are always fighting the toughest competition…so logically, they should be able to beat UFC fighters.

  12. Amir says:

Oh, in addition, let’s not forget that Rampage might be one of the few if not only fighters with Pride experience that Chuck will have faced in the UFC…and I’m sure Chuck knows that.

  13. richard says:

what does him needing money have anything to do with him sounding like a beaten fighter do u think he should do this for free man get real that was a lame *** statement the guys need money to survive dont tell me u think hes like a tyson who goes for the biggest payday even though hes out classed and out matched these guys need to eat to man and i dont know how u can come to a semi conclusion to his ability cuz he said he needs money amir for some reason that statement just pisses me off

  14. TODD says:

Well i donno, who knows what kind of condition and shape rampage is in right now comming to the ufc. Im not gonna say he will come into the octagon and dominate just because he can slam people from the triangle position. And who is to say he wont, who know octagon is so different than the ring, and on any given night you can loose, so good luck to rampage and if he wins (which i hope he does), good for him and maybe we can start the new year off with a bang with another mega fight chuck and rampage. Wouldnt the promo and the fighter highlight reel for that fight be awsome?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Dennis says:

Hey Todd, don’t agree with the illiterate ****. He’s never even witnessed Randy fight. How can he even begin to understand the might of the ICEMAN. His best arguement is that Rampage is black so we are racists because Chuck is white. Come on……****. Give it a rest. Admit it …. Chuck IS the Champ. Randy can take Quinton.

  16. TODD says:

well yea i hear ya dennis, and i love chuck and i think he can beat rampage mainly for the facts that i listed in my last opinion, and i do think that randy could beat rampage if he utilizes his strengths, i would not wanna see randy try and stand up with rampage because rampage does have decent hands, but i think rampage is a little to hyped up, and im black, i mean if you look at his track record i mean he lost all the fights that mattered, im talking about the fights that coulda solidified him as a solid fighter wanderlei twice and and some other fights he couldave won. I mean he is great but i dont think rampage has what it takes to be a true champion because he is so inconsitstant with his wins. Yea he might win the belt, and then what loose to some one like forest griffith or somethin, shoot i donno he is and unpridctable fighter so who knows what rampage will come to the octagon on any givin night
    \

  17. Amir says:

The reason I was saying Rampage sounds like a beaten fighter was mainly because:

    1) I saw him suffer that devastating KO to Wanderlei
2)Chuck has been fighting and training non-stop, I don’t know what Rampage was doing meantime, maybe he was 2…don’t know.
3)In the interview I speak of, he did not make confident comments, just said he would try his best and see what happens.
4)When a guy says he needs the money, maybe it means he’s desperate and would do anything to get some, like fight…even though he does not want to.

In no way was I arguing that these guys should not get paid…are you retarded? how would you even misread me saying that? If anything these guys should get paid even more than they are right now.
So back the f–k up off me before you get pissed off at what I say
that’s the impression I got from reading the interview. I hope it’s not true and that he can give Chuck a run for his money. I know his personality gives the UFC a huge shot in the arm, glad he’s here.

  18. Dennis says:

I like this!! You have some ignorant asses to debate, and you have some real guys that seem to understand. Hats off to you Todd, Brian & BVRasp.

But the bottom line is…………. the Iceman Cometh…

  19. TODD says:

Whoa!!!! have you guys checked out the interview of rampage at ufc.com, he somewhat admitted in not training reall hard. Well i guess prolly because of the layoff, but do any of yall think he will show up in his upcomming fight, and if he wins do any of you guys think he gots what it takes to beat chuck

  20. Dennis says:

Need I answer? NO WAY! NO HOW!

  21. richard says:

i know im late on this but just cuz i havent seen randy fight doesnt mean i dont know nothing about mma i actually seen him lose to chuck twice and when he fought jeremy horn i just dont follow him closely but to say that i only play the racist card whatever the truth is i know much more of mma than u might think dennis u fu*cker

  22. R.J. St.Croix says:

richard man chill out bro no one cares how much you do or dont know about mma so what if your new to the sport or just never pay much attention. i have also been accused of not knowing **** or not being a real fan so i know how you feel. i like to beleave i know a thing or two about the fight game but i dont care if people think i’m full of ****. here’s one up for you…i thought i seen every fight known to man but i’ve never seen couture vs. horn (it did happen look it up) but you seen it so you must know more than me at least.

  23. richard says:

thanks man i just take offense when someone implies i might not know nothing of mma i try to do research and watch matches before i make my comments i think i just dont like dennis’s comments but i will rest my neck on him and keep on putting my opionion on here as should u

  24. MAD says:

That’s right don’t let anyone discourage you from voicing your opinion. It shows you are a fan just being here and learning that’s what it should be about. Nobody’s opinion is right or wrong they are just that opinions and everyone is entitled to have one.

  25. Buddy says:

yo all of you idiots that says rampage sucks you suck. he can woop chucks white *** any day of the year i dont care what you retards say.

  26. MMAKansas says:

    @Buddy

Hey ……. BUDDY! lol you should probably find one of the million Chuck/Rampage threads on this site, seeing as how this thread has nothing to do with the upcoming fight and the last post was 4 months ago. I can see by your post thought that you wouldn’t know that… lol….
