Matt LindlandLoretta Hunt, over at The Fight Network, is reporting that there is a possibility that Matt Lindland will fight Fedor Emelianenko in BodogFIGHT this April in Russia. It looks like Jeff Monson, who was scheduled to fight Fedor, is not signed to an official contract and Lindland may have been approached to fight Fedor.

With its second live event recently pushed back to April 6, BodogFIGHT reps said today they are still contemplating just who will face the world’s number one fighter Fedor Emelianenko (25-1) in St. Petersburg, Russia. Previously announced opponent Jeff Monson is not locked up contractually, and word is Matt Lindland (19-4) has been approached to face the feared heavyweight on his home turf for the promotion’s second pay-per-view offering.

“If that fight is being offered to me, that’s a fight I’d be interested in taking,” the 2000 Olympic Greco-Roman silver medalist said, choosing his words carefully.

Too easy to pic this one… really should not happen. Fedor will cream him!

  2. R.J. St.Croix says:

munson, lindlind, who ever…does it matter who they throw at him? i dont think bodog has the money to sign someone with the skills to hang with fedor. just because its easiest for me to see ufc events i would like to see him fight there. all in all i think there just needs to be more heavy weights all together.

  3. MAD says:

Yea this is a bad idea. I heard Fedor didn’t want to fight Monson because he lost to Tim. Replacing him with a middle weight doesn’t make any sense though.

  4. Brian says:

Who did Fedor loose to and when?? He’s a baaad maaan…

  5. R.J. St.Croix says:

fedor lost to Tsuyoshi Kosaka because of a cut. it happened very early in the fight. it was at a rings event.

  6. PATRICK says:

A LOSS IS S LOSS THE GUY THAT BEAT HIM HAS A HORRABLE RECORD

  7. Dennis says:

You’re right Patrick. That just proves that the ole addage “any given day”, but I seriously doubt he will ever beat Fedor again.

  8. alen says:

Another thing Patrick just to let you know that fight happened on 12/22/2000. Thats over 6 years ago. A lot has changed in the world of mixed martial arts in 6 years and fedor has been undefeated for 6 years now and also it was a loss by “cut” so it doesn’t mean Fedor taped or got knocked out. To be a loss by cut is not even a real loss.

  9. richard says:

fedor actually avenged his lost and kicked that guys *** pertty badly .ever since i seen fedor take one of the nastiest slams ive ever seen by randleman ive been a fan i wonder whats it like to walk around knowing that no one in the world can kick ur *** damn what a rush

  10. Brian says:

That’s what Frank Trigg said about Fedor…That he walks around knowing that no one in the world could beat him up. But he also said that talking to Fedor is like taking to your accountant. He takes everything in stride and doesn’t let it get into his head. That’s probably whats kept him at the top for soooo long.

I bet he’s watching the UFC with some intrest. It would be hard to imagine the UFC NEVER getting that big s.o.b. in the ring someday. We’ll see him. I just hope it’s sooner rather than when he’s on a downward spiral.

  11. Fuzznutz says:

“A LOSS IS S LOSS THE GUY THAT BEAT HIM HAS A HORRABLE RECORD”

    A. It’s “Horrible”
    B. T.K. was good back in the day…at the time he was 20-10-2 and had losses to Frank Shamrock, Bas Rutten, Gilbert Yvel, Pedro Rizzo and a draw to Big Nog…these guys aren’t slouches.

  12. PATRICK says:

ID LOVE TO SEE FEDOR IN UFC I WOULD SAY NOONE WOULD EVER BEAT HIM

  13. marco says:

Hey patrick- patti Whats your point? Fedor lost by cut six years ago and was winning the fight untill the stoppage. Why do you feel it is important to cry -because some other heavyweight you have a man crush on is not as good as fedor.

  14. R.J. St.Croix says:

    @marco

i dont think patrick was saying he likes kosaka he was saying his record sucks. and i dont know if you can say fedor was winning when the fight got stopped because the stoppage came at 17 sec. in to the first round. dont take my word for it though just look it up.wikipedia has a **** load of facts on all different mma fighters.

  15. PATRICK says:

LOL NO IM SAYING THAT OTHER DUDE SUCKED AND BEAT THE TOP DOG AND THAT FIGHT COUNTED AS A LOSS AND NOT A WIN SO THEREFORE ITS A LOSS

  16. PATRICK says:

AND NO MARCO I THINK I HAVE THE MAN CRUSH ON YOU

  17. ALEXSANDER says:

You’ll be surprised how good of a fight this will be. Lindland takes on all comers at all sizes routinely. His only recent loss is a split decision to Rampage (A fight that Lindland nearly finished on several occasions). Im not sure what weight these guys will come in at but Lindland will be close enough to stay with him. In the end Fedor will win the decision (if for no other reason than the fight is in russia) but we WONT get knocked out and he WILL make a good account of himself.

  18. richard says:

Matt Linland i never really followed but hes ranked number one by MMAWeekly as a Middleweight and number 7 pound for pound fighters in the world ranked by Fox Sports so i did a little research of my own and came to a conclusion myself here it is .
    Matt “the law”Linland
    19-4 wins
6bytko,7by submission,5by decision and one by DQ
    losses
    2 losses by tko,1by submission,1by decision
He was on a seven fight winning streak until his to Rampage and has even had an impresive win against Horn after. Now to make my decision on him i judged him after his lost to David Terrel to kind of tell me what kind of fighter he is now,and im not seeing why hes ranked so high by MMA Weekly or fox sports execept for wins agianst Joe doerkson and Horn hes had wins over a 41 year old Mike Van Arsdale a guy named fabio leopaldo who only had 3 fights at the time two guys with more losses than wins and Travis Lutter who in my opionion is nothing special so for being an olympic silver medialist yeah hes going to win these smaller show guys and i seen the fight against rampage and horn hes a great wrestler and has decent strikes but for him to be ranked so high i dont see why at least latley

  19. richard says:

i thought for sure someone would have something to say but i guess not

  20. bvrasp says:

yea i agree with you richard, he shouldnt be ranked so high right now, id like to see him take on some tougher competition. At one point matt hughes wanted to meet him halfway in weight, that would have been an interesting match up.

  21. Marcus says:

It should also be noted that Fedor’s loss to TK was by doctor stoppage from a cut he received from an illegal blow ( no elbows in rings unless the fighter has elbow pads) but since it was a tournament a winner had to be chosen, Fedor could not go on because of the cut so TK got the “WIN”

  22. Chebah says:

I saw Chael Sonnen on bodogfight’s website and he trashed Fedor and Sambo pretty hard. He said, “who has Fedor beaten? A drunk Mark Coleman twice and Kevin Randleman who hasn’t worked out since college.”

Unbelievable. I guess Nog and Mirko aren’t worth mentioning???

I didn’t know a lot about Lindland because I mostly kept up with Pride & UFC and had never saw him fight that I remember. But, I watched him recently beat Carlos Newton on IFL and then watched several interviews. I would say that he thinks more highly of himself as a fighter than he ought.

I will enjoy watching Fedor give this guy who thinks he is God’s gift to MMA a reality check.

  23. Dennis says:

Fedor will beat Linland like a scramble egg at waffle house…

  24. viking lord says:

Richard, proper sentence structure and punctuation rule. Try it.

  25. wankel says:

I watched the fight (Emiliananko vs Lindland)

Fedors record so far appears great, but the majority of his competitors have been bottom to mid level competitors with a few you could classify as top competitors, cro cop being world class and Lindland potentially. Couture on the other hand has played and replayed with the top competitors.

Fedor clearly won the Lindland matchup, but had his hands full for a while. Watch the matchup from different angles and you can see the ref trying to get Fedor to let go of the rope he is hanging onto to keep from getting taken down by Lindland. Fedor eventually takes down lindland as he lets go of the rope, but had Lindland known Fedor was clutching the rope the whole time, he would have been wise to let him go and get Fedor to come back to the center of the ring where there was nothing to hold onto and take him down. Once on the ground in dominant takedown position I know full well that would not have gauranteed Lindland any victory over the very capable Fedor, but It certaily would have opened potential that Lindland may have defeated Fedor. Once Fedor begins consistently taking on Top competitors, he will likely loose a couple while still maintaining an overall win record. There are too many variables in the sport at the top level for even the best fighters to win them all.

  26. James BWright says:

Is there really any doupt that Fedor is the best? Everyone keeps talking about him having not faught anyone. Thats just stupid and deserves no further comment. Take this into consideration. Fedor approaches the ring with the exact same look on his face as when he’s fighting and as he leaves. He’s had one significant offensive move executed against him and it didn’t even faze the man. He simply out classes everyone. All the HYPE leading up to the Cro cop fight only gave Fedor more reason slap him around like a littl girl, which he did embarassingly I might add. I hate the fact that Danna White and the other commercializing “Don Kings” of MMA are ******** it up for us fans but the fact is that we wont get to see Fedor against the guys we want because Fedor wont “sell out”. Randy Cotour has all but QUIT the UFC completely because of this very issue. The sad thing is that Fedor will go on fighting and beating everyone for a while and never really get the rcognition he deserves. Eventually after he’s lost some of the drive and gotten a little older, some guy will come along and be in the right place at the right time. Fedor will lose and then the morons of the mma world will come screamin saying “I told you so, I knew he wasnt as good as…..”. It happens all the time. Anyway, Fedor is the best by far. He can and would beat anyone on the planet right now. I really wish penheads in suits sitting behind desks weren’t ******** it up for the rest of us.

  27. bvrasp says:

James, who said Fedor hasnt fought anyone?? lol. Whoever said that obviously doesnt know what theyre talking about.. the question is, who HASNT he fought? Randy Couture? ok big deal.. hes fought everyone else who matters.

Maybe people have said he hasnt fought tough competition lately, which is true. That isnt Fedors fault tho, hes fighting guys twice his size because they cant find anyone whos even half his skill at heavyweight. Big nog is probably the only guy whos more skilled than Fedor on the ground, but as it stands, theres not alot of great HW fighters around anyways.

  28. richard says:

its just that if fedor doesnt fight anymore a list fighters and sticks with c and d level how long until we dont consider him number 1

  29. bvrasp says:

I see what your saying Richard, but which A fighters should he be fighting?? Randy, Arlovski and Sylvia? the competition just isnt there. Theres a lack of Superstar talent at HW.. who else is there? Tank, Kimbo and Sapp? lol

  30. richard says:

i think for sure there are two people fedor needs to fight, josh barnett and randy those are the only two guys that might beat fedor oh and maybe even tim sylvia

    • R.J. St.Croix says:

what gives you the impression that big Tim could beat Fedor? if Randy can take Tim down and keep him there im sure Fedor wouldnt have a big problem doing it to except Fedor would be more likely to finish the fight. i would like to see Fedor vs. Antonio Silva not because i think Silva would win but because i think it would be a good fight, Silva has great stand up and a solid ground game and hes quick and on top of all that hes huge. he would pose a bunch of problems for Fedor.

  31. richard says:

i never said that tim could beat fedor i just said he probably should be a guy he would want to fight if he beats big nog,but antonio silva i never really thought of the guys a beast for sure it would be a great fight

    • R.J. St.Croix says:

yeah the heavy weight division is so thin right now it sucks. if you look at the MMAHQ top ten heavy weight list you’ll see everyone on that list besides Aleksander Emelianenko and Brandon Vera has held or fought for a title in a major org. and most of them have been floating around top ten for quite awhile. we need to see some new heavys and i think BigFoot is going to be top ten sooner or later anyways.

  32. James BWright says:

One thing to keep in mind is that Fedor has never ducked a fight with anyone. He pushed the fight with cro cop back for a while but only because he was injured. Has anyone considered that Fedor fights whoever will fight him. He may not have many options. I dont see people calling him out anymore after he humilliated Mirko. It could be that the “A” listers are happy to stay on the A list and not in the hospital. Fedor sure seems to be much more vicious against “A” listers,. It looked like he wanted blood against Mirko. I for one want to see Randy and Fedor fight on neutral ground. I dont trust the UFC crap anymore. Especially after the Hammill vs Bisping SCAM!!!!!! I would hate to see either of those guys get screwed over for some Dana King I mean Dana White TV ratings crap.

  33. bvrasp says:

I guess the best that can happen now is if M1 does well as an organization and sets up some good fights. I cant see them being structured like the UFC, they will probably just go event to event, fight to fight, with very few fighter in their “stable”. Fedor for sure they have signed and exclusive but if they wanted to get Randy for example, they would probably just make a deal for one fight with Fedor. No multi fight contracts, etc..

Thats the only way i see that fight happening guys, and as many times as i underestimated Randy and he came through and shocked the world.. i STILL have to go with Fedor.
