The International Fight League will kick off their first full season tonight in Oakland, California when Maurice Smith’s Tigersharks battle Marco Ruas’ Condors and the Shamrock brothers face off as Ken’s Lions take on Franks Razorclaws.
The IFL’s TigerSharks have won the first two IFL “championships”; one was a short preseason schedule, followed by a half-year schedule which ended last December with the IFL awarding their first championship rings to Miletich’s TigerSharks.
The Superfight for tonights IFL event will feature Jeremy Horn vs. Falaniko Vitale.
One important note regarding the event is that the California State Athletic Commission rejected the fight between Vernon White of the Lion’s and Raphael Davis of the Razorclaws. Apparently the disparity in fight experience was too great for the CSAC to sanction the bout; Vernon “Tiger” White has fought over 55 professional MMA fights, while Davis only has a professional record of 1-1.
As usual, the IFL show should be available on FSN sometime on Sunday evening, depending on your local FSN provider.

i kinda like the idea of the team thing even though its a bit cheesy. it will show a different kind of viewer how mma works. people who watch mostly team sports will understand a sport better if you show them it in a format they already know. and like i say more fans means more money, and more money means better fight cards and thats good for all the fans new and old!
I will be at this event Tonight!!!! 4th Row baby!!!!
the only reason i dont like the ifl is cuz they dont show the whole fights sometimes
Results of this show…… Ken Shamrocks team beat Frank Shamrocks team. Maro Ruas team beat Maurice smith’s team. Jeremy Horn Won the superfight on a split decision.
@Stevo,
so what are your impressions of a live IFL show?
I actually had a great time. There wasen’t alot of people there but the energy was good and the ring girls were hot. haha. I will probably end up going to the one in Reno in June. I like seeing people who are up and coming in MMA. The premise of IFL is different than any other organization so that’s the appeal to me. As a fan… UFC #1 IFL #2
