Today's Mixed Martial Arts News and Analysis Headquarters

We’ve got another user contribution today, as Brian gives us his second MMA HQ article.

Kendall GroveKendall “Da Spyder” Grove is rumored to return to the Octagon this coming April. The word is that Grove could be on Spike TV’s Ultimate Fight Night 10 or even UFC 69; both of which are in April. His opponent is thought to be Alan Belcher (9-2), but “Da Spyder” has some interests in facing Rory Singer. That fight may have to wait until after he fights Belcher.

“Me and Rory have bad blood,” Grove said. “Rory was Tito’s first choice at 185 pounds for the show. A lot of things happened on the show. It was childish stuff that happened on the show. Everybody knows about it. At my last weigh-in, we were talking and he said he didn’t see anything impressive in my fights. He was disrespecting me to my face, so I said let’s fix it like everybody else would – let’s go. He accepted, so I give him a lot of respect for that.”

In a recent interview with the Maui News, Kendall spoke of a hand injury that occurred during his fight with Chris Price and about his return to the Octagon.

“I popped my index finger on the first combination and that was it. I had to take him down and I was just praying, ‘Please keep him down.’ ”

Kendall Grove’s fight with Chris Price was an easy one if you don’t count the fact that he injured his hand. Grove is a giant middleweight at 6′ 6″ and 185 pounds, and he quickly became Tito’s favorite during The Ultimate Fighter: Season 3. He continues to train with Ortiz’s “Team Punishment” and, at only 24 years old, Kendall looks to have a bright future in the UFC.

I’m personally looking forward to seeing Kendall again in the Octagon. He is a very exciting and talented fighter. Team Punishment is a great camp and Ortiz has taken Grove on as a younger brother. I expect him to only get better with age.

  3. Brian says:

SWEET! FightOpinion.com used my story for their website. Now that made my head grow a little…LOL.

  4. Kendall Grove has the hugest xiphoid process, it sticks out so far, so gross. It is pretty disgusting! I wonder if some one were to kick or punch him right in the xiphoid process if it would break off and kill him?

  5. PATRICK says:

LITTLE PRINCESS WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?

  6. Dr J says:

    @Patrick,

haha. i think its that large bone in the middle of your chest that seems to stick far out on Kendall Grove

  7. PATRICK says:

LOL I SEE THANKS DR J

  8. Amir says:

From this picture it doesn’t lookl ike his xyphoid is sticking out but rather caved in.

  9. His xiphoid process is the large protrusion that sticks out below his caved in sternum. Either way it is pretty weird looking.

  10. Actually, the sternum is referred to as a “dagger shaped bone”, maybe that is why Kendall decided to form “Team Dagger”?

  11. Amir says:

    Hey Dr. J,

Slightly off topic but…when I was watching UFC 66 I thought my dreams had come true with the CroCop and Rampage announcements, then, another announcement that was probably overlooked by many people…HD reception. The only thing I forgot was when it was going to start. I thought it would start the
Feb.3rd UFC 67…I was wondering if you happen to know. I can’t believe that now I’ll get to watch every PPV in HD on my 40″ LCD.
    So I guess there is a G-d. :)

  12. Dr J says:

    @ Amir,

UFC pay-per-views will be available in HD starting with UFC 67. One thing to be aware of though, is they HD version of the broadcast is going to cost you $10 more. At least most of the major networks I’ve checked so far, are charging a $10 premium. You carrier may be different so check with them first.

  13. Amir says:

Oh man, I didn’t realize that. I have Cablevision here in Brooklyn, NY
I hope that is not the case.
