Well, since Saturday nights UFC 67 (and even well before that) I’ve received loads of emails asking me what Mirko Cro Cop’s next fight would be after Eddie Sanchez. Everyone wants to know if he will be getting a title shot against the winner of Tim Sylvia vs. Randy Couture at UFC 68.
The short answer is, no. Cro Cop will have at least one more fight before he fights for the title; at least that is the word coming from my sources at the moment. It appears that Cro Cop’s next fight will be at UFC 70, when the UFC makes their first appearance in Manchester, England.
UFC 70 will feature primarily overseas fighters like Michael Bisping, Cheick Kongo, Dennis Siver, David Lee, and Abdul Mohamed so placing Cro Cop on that European card does make sense.
I’ll of course keep you updated as I find out some definitive information.

I think that is actually the next logical step here. However, I would think that they would have Arlovski fight again before UFC 70. If they do, then Arlovski /Cro probably won’t happen. That division is so weak, who are the top contenders? no one legitimate really. Is it possible to have a guy fight 2 PPV events in a row, cause that’s only about a months time difference. I mean, Andre is not a fighter you can keep off of a PPV card for long, especially in such a weak division.

alot of people say that the american lifestyle got to arlovski, he doesnt train as hard as he used to, basically hes gone soft. Those are all rumors, i dont personally believe that, hes had a bit of a slump, people think he sucks because he lost to sylvia twice. That says something about Sylvia, not arlovski. Im sure he will come back strong and im 100% sure andrei will fight mirko, theres no avoiding that fight especially with the lack of fighters in the hw division.
What im wondering is.. why is randy getting an immediate title shot? look how long its been since he even fought at that weight.. Hes an infinately better wrestler than Sylvia, but i would have him as the underdog in this fight, Tim will hurt him man, hate to see it happen.
nice to see hughes and franklin coming back in ufc 68, tho theyre not fighting the guys they should be fighting. Hughes should Fight diego, Franklin should fight Swick. But watever.. it will be nice to see them fight anyways..

Cro Cop to Fight at UFC 70
The UFC’s newest acquisition Mirko “Cro Cop†Filipovic will make his second appearance in the UFC when the UFC heads to Manchester, England for UFC 70. Cro Cop’s opponent is currently unknown at this time.
UFC 70 will be held at the Manchester Evening News Arena on April 21.
Cro Cop is from Europe so might as well give the European fans an exciting matchup. Rumors has it that Kongo is next in line. Kongo is a standup fighter like Eddie Sanchez and I think it will be pointless to have him fight Cro Cop. Arlovski is a top heavyweight in the UFC, not a stepping stone. Jeff Monson would’ve been a good warm up match for Cro Cop, but right now he’s training for his big fight against Fedor. Either Gabriel Gonzaga or Marcio Cruz should be next in line.
For Mirko to fight anyone other than Arlovski is a complete travesty.
How would Maricio Cruz even be considered after just losing to Andrei. I think Mirko/Andrei would later become one of the best fights of this year. First off all, Andrei is huge and not just because he is 6’4, his physique makes him look even bigger. Second, he is without a doubt the most well-rounded HW in the UFC right now. I start to foam at the mouth at the possibility of this fight taking place.
I would like to hear who you all think are currently the top 5 HW.
If there is any fighter in the entire UFC that even remotely has a chance of lasting more than 2 rounds with Mirko, it is Andrei.
i agree, arlovski and cro cop would be an exciting matchup to watch. But my point is Cro Cop should fight someone else other than Arlovski. Arlovski is a talented heavyweight but fighting Cro Cop in Manchester with no title on the line is meaningless.

HE COULD KNOCK OUT MIRKO AND MIRKO COULD KNOCK OUT ANDREI WITH A KICK ITS A TOSS UP …… ANDREI USED TO BE SO GOOD BUT HES NOT AS GOOD AS HE USED TO BE …. MIRKO WOULD WIN…. It’s such a tough decision for the UFC. Cro Cop shouldn’t face anyone but Arlovski, at the same time though, Arlovski vs. Cro Cop may be better with a title in between them. Honestly, we all know that anybody besides Sylvia and maybe Arolvski is a warm up, and those two probably also. It’s just a matter of cutting through the BS
