Andre ArlovksiIt appears the UFC is looking to put on an impressive show in Manchester, England at UFC 70. Former UFC heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski has been added to the UFC 70 card. Arlovski last fought at UFC 66 where he defeated Marcio Cruz.

No official opponent has yet been named, but the MMA world is buzzing with the possibility of an Arlovski vs. Cro Cop matchup.

P.S.
Patrick, hope this answers your questions, so you can stop asking about Arlovski all the time. Haha…

wow…what amatch up that will be. crocop vs arlovski…lol now thats a match up, if it happens…in my eyes arlovski could still has the potential to beat silvia and become the champion again, but cro cop could also do the same, b/c really and truly as good as tim silvia may be…he wont stand a chance against crocop..i think the winner of that match is the man who should rightfully get a title shot…..but in my opinion i see cro cop comming out on top when everything is said and done…

  2. PATRICK says:

VERY FUNNY DR J.. HES MY FAV BUT I HAVE A FEELING NOW HE DOES NOT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES… HE USED TO

  3. Dr J says:

    @PATRICK,

Just had to through that in there. Lighten things up a little, haha. If Arlovksi does fight Cro Cop, we’ll definitely see where his head is at the moment.

  4. PATRICK says:

YO DUDE I HEAR HE LOVES TO PARTY AND STUFF LIKE THAT… THATS Y HE SUCKS NOW

  5. bvrasp says:

ofcourse, everyone knows crocop is the man.. but still! ill be cheering for Arlovski in this one! and really, against anyone.. hes my fav HW fighter in the UFC, GO DRE!!!

  6. MoneyMax says:

do you remember that old commercial “hwo many licks does ti take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop? a one, a two, a three *crunch*… THREE!”

well i think its applicable like so…

How many kicks does it take Mirko Filipovic to get to the championship belt of the UFC heavyweight division? a one (Sanchez), a two (Arlovski), a three (Sylvia), *smack*… THREE!

    Sincerely, The Mallot

  7. Brian says:

Tim Silvia sighes a little releive…because he knows that his UFC heavy weight belt is going to be under his bed for another 4-6 months.
Andrei WAS the #2 guy. Not anymore. I do, however, see this fight going past the 2nd round. But not the distance, unless Andrei plays “cat-n-mouse”.

  8. MoneyMax says:

hey PATRICK, are you a forum basher? one of those guys who thinks they look smarter by saying things that are basically a failed attempt to make me feel stupid?

all i was saying was that Cro Cop will beat Arlovski if they end up fighting, and he can definately beat Sylvia… in my opinion of course, i woudl never state this as a fact and let someone like you shiit their pants and have a field day with it.

(by the way i spelled a word wrong up there, feel free to remind me, which im sure you will)

  9. PATRICK says:

LOL MAX I KNOW I SAW IT BUT UR NOT STUPID

  10. Crockett says:

Cro Cop vs. Arlovski is by far the best matchup in the heavyweight division. If this matchup takes place in Manchester, then this will be the main event. I got two words for this event, SOLD OUT.

  11. Amir says:

hmmm..this is a really frustrating topic because it’s hard to figure out what UFC guys are really planning. Technically, Andrei should still be considered the #1 contender for the title because he did beat Cruz, who was probably the #1 contender at that time anyway. However, to see yet another Arlovki/Sylvia debacle is probably not desirable anytime soon. So, what’s the UFC to do next? because Mirko’s win was over a second-tier fighter anyway, so he should fight another fight before getting a contention. WHERE THE F–K IS BRANDON VERA? the guy was undefeated in the octagon and they just let him disappear? WTF? I think we might see a Herring/Arlovski fight. UFC 68 should clear up many issues (where Randy Couture fits in here), but it seems like no one, including myself, is really giving Randy a chance…

  12. Amir says:

…so it’s either gonna mean everything or nothing. Probably nothing, but another nice payday for the UFC.

  13. MoneyMax says:

i dont think that the UFC looks at Mirko beating a second tier fighter as no placement for a quick matchup with the belt. they wont do it for his next fight (UFC 70) but they will probably do it the fight after that assuming he wins. When the MMA world knows your name and you have credibility then you can get the the title faster. In my opinion Cro Cop has more eligability for a title shot than Anderson Silva did after “Just one fight against Leben.” Cro Cop has demolished Wanderlei and taken Fedor the distance, i think that should be more credibility than Arlovski. If i had it my way it would be Vera and Arlovski, winner fights Cro Cop, winner fights for title.

  14. Crockett says:

Eddie Sanchez took a beating that he’ll never regret and I’ll explain why. Eddie Sanchez first win rewarded him with a $4,000 paycheck, but his 1st round loss to Cro Cop gave him a $30,000 cut. Eddie Sanchez is now 8-1 and there is no shame in losing. Hats off to Eddie Sanchez for being a warrior; as for Brandon Vera, you better step up and prove to everyone that you are a warrior. Forget your winning record and forget the “sucky” contract, be a man like Eddie Sanchez.

  15. Brian says:

Hell yea, Crockett. Preach on my bother… Vera waived on a fight because of money. Now Dana White is showing him who wears the pants in the organization. Someone pointed out Chuck Liddell. He never backs down from a fight…and I qoute. “You know me, I’ll fight anybody.” THAT’s what will get you the 6 figure fights. Not holding out because you think you deserve more money on the soul fact that you beat a couple of washed up fighters. Now he’s outta the mix. For now…not forever.

How many fights did Coulture sign up for?? Maybe he’ll fight Vera and put the man back down to Earth. GOOD TOPIC!

  16. PATRICK says:

    andreiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii arlovskiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  17. PATRICK says:

YO DR J WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY ???? I FOUND THIS ON MMAONTAP

    - Andrei Arlovski is expected to fight on UFC 70 against Jim York. Mirko Filipovic will also be on the card.

  18. Brian says:

I haven’t commented on this very much, but I would be suprised to see Dana White put Andrei and Cro Cop in the ring together this soon. He could possible fight Andrei in his first title defense. I see Andrei getting title shot against Cro Cop at the end of ’07

  19. PATRICK says:

BRAIN I THINK UR RIGHT …. CUZ THAT WOULD MESS ALOTTA STUFF UP IF THEY FAUGHT SO SOON….. I THINK CRO COP WILL BE CHAMP AND ANDREI OR TIM WILL TAKE HIM ON????

  20. PATRICK says:

HEY DR J I HAVE A QUESTION I NOTICED THAT THEY ARE HOLDING UFC 69 ON APRIL 7 AND UFC 70 ON APRIL 27… THATS TWO WEEK INTERVALS…. IS DANA GONNA START HAVING THESE EVENTS U THINK TWICE A MONTH????

  21. R.J. St.Croix says:

nah i doubt they’ll start doing it that often i think its to catch up for missing January. i’m not totally sure of the details but i’m pretty sure they have a deal with P.P.V. for 10 shows a year. i do think they will do a fight night live at least once a month sooner or later to help the P.P.V’s with hype and setting up rivalry’s and stuff like that.

  22. Dr J says:

    @ PATRICK,

The UFC isn’t going to start holding 2 shows a month. The reaston UFC 69 and 70 are so closed together is because UFC 70 is going to be held in Manchester, England. UFC 70 was originally scheduled to be held a week later in London, but due to some scheduling conflicts they had to move it up a week and change the location from London to Manchester.

  23. richard says:

i do think arlovski is an excellent fighter with great technique but his weakness is something he cant get better at its his chin some people got it and some people dont and u better have a good one fighting cro crop and he doesnt

  24. BRADY says:

Cro cop will punish Arlovski badly

  25. Dennis says:

    @Brady

This is obvious, and believe it or not, *** hit it right on the button when he said, “his chin some people got it and some people dont and u better have a good one fighting cro crop and he doesnt”

    But please don’t tell Patrick.

  26. MAD says:

Arlovski is still probably the best option the UFC has to face Crocop. That’s why I don’t understand the Gonzaga matchup. You would think the UFC would put the best guys avaiable against Mirko so the UFC fans that don’t know him will see how impressive he is. The UFC puts together alot of fights that don’t make sense like Silvia vs Couture. I like Randy but I don’t think he has a very good chance of beating Tim. Even if he some how did find a way to win then what? Crocop or Arlovski would seem to be next for a title shot and Randy definitely will be in trouble then. I think it’s like we discussed in another tread the UFC wants to give the guys that helped build the business some of the money that is now available. Randy is a legand in the sport but seeing him get KO’d over and over again is not the way to pay him back. Crocop is the new king of the heavyweight division and Randy should consider going back to light heavy just not fighting Chuck.

  27. Dennis says:

    @MAD

here here…. Randy could do very well LHW, avoiding Chuck, but as a HW, he will only let us fanatics down.

  28. PATRICK says:

COME ON GUYS U CANT COUNT ARLOVSKI OUT… HIS PAST 3 FIGHTS HAVE REALLY SUCKED CUZ HES DATIN THAT PLAYBOY BUNNI AND PARTYING ALL THE TIME AND NOT FOCUSING ON HIS TALENTS… CRO COPS CHIN AINT ALL THAT EITHER WATCH HIM FIGHT RANDLEMAN THE FIRST TIME LOL…

  29. Dennis says:

sorry Parick, Chuck parties just as hard as the next fighter….

  30. PATRICK says:

CHUCK IS OLDER MORE WISE ANDREI IS A RUSSIAN JACK A SS WHO LOVES AMERICAN WOMEN LOL
