Today's Mixed Martial Arts News and Analysis Headquarters

Deigo SanchezUFCMania.com has picked up on a story in todays OC Register online edition that Diego Sanchez tested positive for mirijuana after his victory over Joe Riggs last December.

This is the first I have heard of this and I haven’t seen it posted anywhere else before today either. According to Carlos Arias of the OC Register:

UFC welterweight contender Diego Sanchez tested positive for marijuana after his first-round KO over Joe Riggs on Dec.13 at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station. Armando Garcia, the executive officer of the California State Athletic Commission, said Sanchez paid a $500 fine and served a three-month suspension, so he has been cleared to fight Josh Koscheck at UFC 69 on April7 in Houston.

I’m very surprised that this news didn’t come out anywhere else before now. How could soemthing like this be “kept secret” and only come out now, only a few weeks before Sanchez is scheduled to fight again. Only getting a three month suspension doesn’t seem quite right considering the six month suspensions that the California State Athletic Commission recently handed out to Nick Diaz and several other fighters.

Bjj schools are hard to find if you don’t live in CA or FL .. or TX .. my experience has been through seminars with Royce Gracie and company. They basically will teach at any Academy that will pay their fee. My brother owns a school in Arkansas and had him come and do a seminar for 3 days, we also trained with Danny Dring, who is an awesome MMA instructor in Sheridan Arkansas, (better know as Little Rock). Bjj is great, if you mix it with stand up, but by itself, it is not as effective anymore against good sprawlers. I have trained standup for 22 years, and bjj for 13, it really is a good workout and the people you train with really become friends for life, I know guys that were 12 years old when we started training, today they have been through the Iraq war, and are home now building careers and lives, but we all get together once a year in June for MMA camp and kick the crap out of each other and tell old war stories, it’s great… I would encourage anyone to find a good group and train away, and build relationships..

yeah i used to train a bit back in the day (kick boxing, bjj, wrestling, ect.) i’m am getting a bit too old to do it full on anymore and i dont have a lot of time these days (full time job and 6 kids eats up a lot of your time) at this point in my life i think i want to just help someone else become a better fighter. my 5 year old is picking up bjj very well and he even has good technical looking strikes. i know he’s only 5 but he really likes the sport and as long as he wants to do it i will help him as much as i can and maybe someday he could be the champ i never was.

LOL yeah i have 6 kids i only have two hobbies mma and……out of the 6 kids i have 5 of them are boys and 4 of them love mma (the other boy is only 13 months old) i would really love for one of them to get in to fighting and make me the proud pops of a champ. of course i never tell them i want them to fight because you cant push kids into things or they will just hate it. my five year old loves watching fights and learning things like how to throw combos and how to submit people. he has an awesome armbar from the guard. i showed him how to slip a punch and lock in an armbar from guard and he practiced it a lot on my 13 year old and now he can slap it on at will from the guard and my 13 year old cant stop it even when he knows its comming lol. thats my boy.
