The International Fight League takes another step forward in their evolution this Friday as they will have their first “same day” televised fight card. The IFL event this Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT will be broadcast the same night starting at 11pm EST on Fox Sports Net.
The two-hour program begins at 11 p.m. in most markets. The “Best Damn Sports Show†themed show marks the first time FSN has broadcasted same-day coverage of IFL action.
Friday’s show features five bouts, including the league’s first rematch between light heavyweights Matt Horwich of the Wolfpack and Jamal Patterson of the Pitbulls, as well as an intriguing welterweight bout between Portland’s Mike Dolce and Delson Heleno, termed by Pitbulls coach Renzo Gracie as his “secret weapon.†The card also features the following bouts:
- Lightweights Ryan Schultz vs. Joey Sampieri
- Middleweights Gerald Harris vs. Fabio Leopoldo
- Heavyweights Devin Cole vs. Bryan Vetell
The Portland Wolfpack will be coached by Kevin Jackson, an Olympic Gold Medalist wrestler, instead of Matt Lindland, since Lindland will be fighting Fedor in BODOGFight the following day in Russia.

JUST NOT A FAN OF THE IFL THINK ITS BORING
They really need to do something about the opening HYPE, but I do love MMA, so I will watch.
Boring or not, as Dennis said, the IFL is MMA. As an MMA fan, I’m going to watch and/or attend all the MMA events I can. This is the first “major” show I’ve been able to cover after covering most of the smaller local shows here in New Englad, so I’m looking forward to it. I think the IFL is a great product with very good MMA fighters. Sure it may not have the “big name stars” that the UFC and Pride has, but the fighters are good and put on an excellent show.
Too bad we didn’t already have the MMA HQ shirts made up. I could wear one tonight and you guys could play “Spot Dr J in the crowd on FSN”

The IFL has been getting better and better. The showa are usually entertaining and they do have a few good fighters. I’ve been so bust that I forgot about the T shirt contest. I’m leaving on vacation this afternoon and have a ton of stuff to finish before I leave. I’ll try and get something put together if I can. I’d attend an IFL show if they made their way to Colorado. I attend almost all the Ring of Fire events here and they are finally going to a cage. They have been fighting in a ring for a long time so this will be cool. I hope Fedor beats Matt and the UFC starts making him fight real opponents again. He’s had a year or so of semi easy opponents considering his talent.

It’s starting to snow hard here and I have to make it to the airport soon so it looks like I’m forced to tap out. I really wanted to do one and I probably still will when I get back from vacation as a late entry. Glad I’m getting out of here were expecting a foot of snow in less than a day. I’ll be on the beach at Cozamel sucking down Corona’s by this evening so I’m pumped. Sorry Dr J this was right up my alley and I can’t believe I spaced it out. I’ll put something together and email it to you anyway. Every time I go on vacation the week before is caos. I have to try and finish everything I have started and make sure the rest of the crew steps up and takes care of business in my absence. Talk to you guys in a coupe of weeks I’m off to Mexico.

i had a few ideas for the Tshirts, but i dont know how to make them.. I think the most important is the MMA HQ font, on the banner where its kind of borken up like that, that should be the font for sure. I like the blood splatter tho too heh

nah richard, i think its gonna be free to everyone who gets spike right? anyone in the world could get the spike channel.. just a guess but i dont see why not? im in toronto and i get it for free, so im sure if you have a dish it wont be a problem.

The reason my T-Shirt design was so simple was because I prefered it that way. My main goal was to have something ready by the time I go to Vegas for UFC 71 so that I have it to promote the website. My personal preference is not crazy graphics that depict blood or violence but simplicity, which I think is what represents this site perfectly. When there is too much in one design, a person who sees it would probably get lost by the colors or pictures rather than the message its representing. I’m sure some don’t agree with that but for the immediate future, I would rather have mine. I think all of the designs are really cool and it’s great that a few people have put forth the time and effort to work on them. I hope that some day down the line, they will all be available for everyone to purchase what they like.

They were $200 a piece and I bought 2. I was going to be in Vegas that weekend anyway before UFC 71 was even announced, so I guess it was meant for me to be there..lol. I don’t even think the seats are that good but it’s part of the event experience…meeting the fighters etc.
