Remeber Chuck Liddell’s infamous appearance on that Texas morning news show? Yeah, the one where he appeared to be drugged but was just high on pain and cold medication? Well, remember how Chuck said he wanted to fight Tommy Morrison for his next fight? Looks like Tommy’s practicing… The World Fighting Championship announced today that Tommy Morrison will make his MMA debut on June 9 against 340lb. John Stover at the Cliff Castle Casino in Arizona. Personally, I doubt if this is anything more than a money-grab by Morrison and a promotional hype for the WFC.
May 10, 2007 – Tommy “The Duke” Morrison, one of the most intriguing boxers to even step into the squared circle, shocked the MMA world this week by announcing his intention to fight 340 lb. John Stover, an experienced cagefighter with 8 professional fights, on June 9, 2007 at the Cliff Castle Casino (www.cliffcastlecasino.net) in Arizona in Gino Carlucci’s World Fighting Championship (www.thewfc.com).
Morrison’s bombshell announcement comes over a decade after his previous bombshell announcement that rocked the boxing world that he had tested positive for AIDS. Morrison, however, has been symptom free for 10 years now and claims that he was the victim of a false positive test result. He recently started boxing again and was cleared to return to the ring by the West Virginia Athletic Commission after passing a battery of medical tests in Arizona, the results of which were forwarded to West Virginia.
Best known to the general public for his role as Tommy Gunn in Rocky V, Morrison was on top of the boxing world before a single test result in 1996 took it all away. But Morrison (46-3-1, 40 KOs) was no celluloid tiger and was a significant fighter and box office draw. George Foreman, for example, lost to only five fighters in his career and Morrison is one. Morrison also held a share of the heavyweight title on two occasions.
“I had just signed a three-fight deal with Don King,” Morrison recalls, “that was going to lead to showdown with Mike Tyson that was worth $38 million. My first fight was against Stormy Weathers in Las Vegas, but then came the test result and the fight was cancelled. I estimate that cost me around $100 million in fight purses over the past 10 years.”
Morrison was spurred to start cagefighting by an interview that Chuck Liddell gave on Good Morning Texas where Liddell called out Morrison and said he wanted to fight him. “I couldn’t believe that,” Morrison says. “It’s one thing to talk about fighting someone but another thing to actually do it. Let’s see if Chuck Liddell’s heart is as big as his mouth. He is crazy to want to get into the cage with me. I beat George Foreman. Nobody in the history of boxing hit harder than George Foreman. So why would I be afraid to get hit by Chuck Liddell? He should be the one to be afraid. Liddell has never been hit by anyone like me. Dana White always talks about how a top cagefighter like Liddell could beat a top boxer so here’s a chance to make it happen. I want to know if Liddell and Dana White really mean what they say or if they are just full of talk. I will take on Chuck Liddell anytime, anyplace, anywhere.”
Morrison’s first step in his mixed martial arts career will be followed and reported on around the world and “The Duke” is dead serious about his upcoming fight. “I’m really excited to be fighting in the WFC and I feel like a whole new world has been opened up to me. If you want to see the future of mixed martial arts then come to the Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde Arizona on June 9, 2007…because that future is me.”
For ticket and travel information for Tommy Morrison’s cagefighting debut go to www.thewfc.com and www.cliffcastlecasino.net. For all media requests contact Peter McKinn at 602-405-5661.

If Mr. miagi could fix it, I wouldn’t need a waiver pal. I wasn’t the one that came out and said I could beat the sh-t out of any boxer and 1 is less than 6. The problem with that theory is you can not do all 6 at one time. Unless you are a magician. But I won’t argue with you on that. You’ll obviously disagree. When I was your age I would walk into Karate and Taekwondo schools looking for action. Couldn’t find a taker when they found out what I had accomplished. As we used to say everybody is a fighter until they find out what it is like when they get hit.
By the way, before you go around challenging boxers and telling them who you know(which won’t cause pain). Do what your buddy Royce did against a no name journeyman: Don’t get too close and take a dive to the legs. The top guys can really hit and they know how very well. Good luck with your seminar.
@BV
Yeah….lol…. pretty soon boxing will have “drag queen” boxers and WWE story lines in order to get people just to look at it… they need something because its been a snooze fest in the boxing world for a while, my brother still watches it, late at night…. when he can’t sleep….lol does the trick masterfully ….
Hey mma,
By the way, I never jacked it with the left. That was for the 1/16th of a second jab. lol
@MRTK
Thanks for the “good luck” .. wish you could make it.. we used to have guys like you drop in the front door looking for the instructor, some action, that happened once every 4-5 months…. yep in the front door, and out the back door on a stretcher amigo… can’t do much on the ground with someone breaking your arm, choking you, or snapping your ankle. Other thing is, you can’t throw all 6 at once, but guess what, I can pretty much imagine what is coming at me with a person who only knows how to do two things, throw a right or throw a left, but if I have 6, there is a lot more guess work going on.. also, my legs are longer than your arms, so I have a reach advantage, 3rd, if you really were as good as you say, Brazilian Jujitsu just took the only thing you can do away… I am definitely confident, that if you didn’t have that problem with masturbating 30 times an hour, and hadn’t hurt your shoulder, you would still have a problem whipping me or any good MMA fighter, (if you were able to do it), it’s nothing personal, I have trained in boxing, and it was great, honing two of my most valuable weapons, however, MMA is SUPERIOR… period.
Nope I can’t see it both ways, boxing is a cool sport, but impractical against a martial artist who is way skilled… now that isn’t to say there aren’t boxers who are skilled enough to beat a martial artist; if your footwork is outragously good and your both fast and strong, sure you can knock out your opponent quickly and win.. I just don’t expect to see that a lot. . because both sportsmen are generally conditioning the same, high cardio regimens and a strict diet, its an expanded skill set that makes the MMA fighter superior… thats why I am on MMAHQ posting about MMA because its an MMA site, for people who are interested in MMA.. lol.. I am just being a ball breaker MRTK, don’t take it personal it is my point of view, it is how I see things through the glass darkly of my experiences this area of my life.. you have nothing to do with that opinion..
@Kansas
LOL i knew you would be the first to jump in about Penn not deserving a title shot and in a way you are right because of the way the UFC makes there matches and because he proved already he is one of the best. but the way i like to look at it is let pretend for a min. everyone has the same skill level and everyone has only had 5 fights (the last 5 they had), who has won the most of those 5 and the ones who have won the most should fight each other and when you get to the point with the two that are winning most often give them the title shot. i know some fighters are better then other and thats why someone like Terry Etim who is 9-0-0 wont get a shot for a while because he has only beat “nobodies” i’m not saying Etim should get a shot i’m just pointing out that records dont amount to sh*t in mma.
id like to see Huerta fight some tougher competition, hes a good fighter, but in my opinion, hes yet to be REALLY tested. Especially when your on the cover of sports illustrated when other probably more deserving fighters are not.
yeah i hear ya. i say Huerta vs. Fisher would be a good test for him.
@mma
The problem is: You would never get close. All you could do is submit me. One punch and you’d be in serious trouble. With 4 oz. gloves? Sleep tight. You never got hit with 4 oz. gloves by a top level fighter. Not the ones I went in the ring with. You’ll never understand. I’ve seen the boxer destroy guys that use hands and feet. The feet go up and the hands go down. To bad benny the Jet didn’t fight Duran. I would have sent you the tape. lol I was praying for that to happen. You are right with one of your points. But we all know if the boxer is on the ground he is in trouble. But you said you were an amateur mma. A golden gloves fighter if he made contact with you with 4 oz. gloves would put you on Saturn. RbF dave said it best. I’m not saying this with any disrespect. We all know how I can bust balls. But you seem to think you could get them on the ground. It’s not as easy as you think. Right here in the city I asked an mma fighter what would happen if Hearns ever made contact with Liddell. I would never name drop but you wouldn’t believe what he said. Understand one thing, I know many of these mma guys here in the city that have fought. Again I will not name drop. And look, guys like me would eat up and spit out the instructor. I was asked to leave back in 1995 by a 2nd degree black belt or he was going to call security. Karate and Taekwando against a Golden Gloves fighter? With 4 oz. gloves? Please be serious. Roflmao
Remember, I like the ufc. I wouldn’t be going to the fight in Vegas if I didn’t. Randy Couture is a good guy. I hope he is successful.
Again, good luck with your profession.
By the way mmakansas. On a serious note. Forget about going back and forth for a minute. I have tremendous respect for sparky mcduffie. He has done so much for unfortunate kids. And that means a great deal to me. Too many kids are going in the wrong direction and he stepped up. My hat is off to him.
why was hureta on the cover of sports illustrated i know he had a great fight that night but why was he picked anyone knows
i mean does anyone know
That would be a great matchup! Huerta vs Fisher.. BJ vs Joe Daddy, the winners fight for the title..
Hey Joe silva, getcha mind right!
Can anyone Anser this for me??????
ive been wondering about something for literally years! and nobody has been able to answer this question..
Whats the stance on wrist locks in the UFC?? is it considered small joint manipulation? because ive yet to see a wrist lock in the hundreds of fights that taken place over the years.
From my experience theyre incredibly effective techniques.. and theyres literally hundreds of different ways to execute wrist locks from all kinds of positions.
maybe the taping prevent much wrist movement? but it seems to me that couldnt prevent its effectiveness completely, they pressure will just switch to the elbow, then the shoulder if the opponent doesnt yeild to the motion..
anyone???
i dont think the wrist falls under the small joint category. i might just be that there is to many way to counter or reverse it. also most wrist locks you grab the hand or wrist witch is #1 hard because of the gloves and #2 may be illegal because your holding the glove. i dont know for sure just my thoughts on it.
mrtk
guy talks about golden glove boxers stephen bonnar is a golden glove boxer and he couldnt knock out forrest even if he should be a better boxer and he had 4oz gloves on but i think since the boxers know to be expecting more than punches it brings his boxing game down cuz hes waiting for a shoot or a kick or a knee
Wow!! Kansas, This is for you and only you. I have read your postings about how you think boxing is soft compared to MMA and how they use pillows, etc, etc, etc…You rattle off about all these guys you’ve trained with, all these credentials you have, and your 24-1 record. How come I have never heard of you? One would think if you have all this experience with these big name guys, we would of heard of you? Of those 24 wins, name me one opponent of yours that didn’t have a full time job doing something else. Since we are listing our credential now, let me tell you just a few of mine. First, I am currently the Director of the Western United States for the Retired Boxers Foundation. Check out the web site @ http://www.retiredboxers.com. I am on the board of directors with people like Micky Ward, Arturo Gatti, and Alex Ramos. Secondly, I just finished training Tommy Morrison for his fight in AZ, and although the rules were altered, the fight lasted all of 120 seconds. (No disrespect Big John) Finally, I just left Carson, CA last week after training Paul Williams for his fight against Margarito in which Paul threw over 100 punches per round. Wait until you see what we do with Floyd Mayweather!! Finally, I am the son of a guy named Janks Morton. If you know anything about boxing, you know my DAD trained Sugar Ray Leonard. He was the first person to put gloves on Ray and was with him until he was diagnosed with a detached retina . Do a google search on Janks Morton and see for yourself. My Mom and Dad went to school with a guy named Ken Norton (Remember him?) To this day, they still talk on the phone 4-5 times a week. My Dad has trained over 30 world champions in the last 40 years. I am 41 years old and have been in the gym consistently since I was 10 years old. That gives me over 30 yrs experience in boxing! I, myself have trained 5 world champions and have 13 major belts on my resume. Make sure before you start runnng off at the mouth about boxing and credentials, you know who you are talking to. I think my credentials speak for them self. With that being said, I take offense to your comments regarding boxing as being soft and boring. Make no mistake about it, MMA is a great sport, with some of the best athletes in the world. But at no time will an MMA guy go toe to toe with a boxer. You comment about Lennox Lewis shows me how little you know about boxing. This guy was 6′ 5″ with a reach longer than most fighters ever. I challenge you to name 1 MMA fighter that could of stood with Lennox. The bottom line is you can’t! He would of beat the Sh_t out of any MMA guy in a toe to toe fight easily! I have yet to see an MMA guy with any type of boxing skills that would allow him to compete in the boxing world. Boxing is not MMA! MMA is not boxing! They are 2 different sports! MMA fighters fight on the ground. All you see is some haymakers thrown sometimes during an MMA fight, but that isn’t boxing skills! Very few MMA fighters really knw how to throw a punch correctly. What you have is 2 guys throwing bombs hoping 1 connects! Let an MMA fighter try doing that for 12 rounds…………He would be done by round 2!! There is so few MMA fighters that would stand a chance against a professional boxer, in a boxing match, bottom line! Again, MMA is a fun sport to watch, but it is a fad! It has hit it’s peak now because it is so new to the US. It has sparked interest in the public, but it will taper off. Boxing has been around in the US for a lot longer and has its peaks and valleys, but on a whole, it isn’t going anywhere. Obviously, your an MMA guy and I respect that. I can appreciate your opinions and even your comments. But if you really think you can step in the ring with a world class boxer with either 12 oz, 10 oz, or 4oz gloves and compete on any level, let me know. I guarantee you or anyone on your team wouldn’t last 2 rounds with Tommy Morrison, Lennox Lewis or any other boxing champion!! Don’t take it personal, I just have to defend my sport like you defend MMA. Step into the ring with a world class boxer and then come talk to me…………if your jaw isn’t wired shut!!!! LOL Can’t wait for the response Kansas. I bet it will be good!! In all sincerity, we are all fighters. Whether MMA or boxing, we have the best athletes in the world!! Hope the seminar ent well Kansas!! Talk to you soon!!
RBF Dave @MRTK–By the way, Fedor would get beat up by Lennox Lewis!! To much reach and Fedor can’t box!! maybe 3-4 rounds and that is because Fedor is a tough guy!!

@Richard
This is what happened with Bonnar. After he fought Griffin the 1st time, I was saying to myself. This guy really knows how to puch but something is missing. Something did not look right from a boxing standpoint. I asked a friend of mine(former amateur). He said Bonnar was a natural. The golden gloves he won was a beginner division of guys that didn’t have to have any experience. Anybody can enter but you are going against guys that are basically starting out. Then he became very good and entered the real deal which is open competition. He did ok but lost in the upper bracket. He knew he could not go pro so he decided to stay with BJJ. Carlson Gracie(my friend told me) convinced him he would never make it as a pro boxer. In my opinion I thought he looked good but just did not have the speed.
rbf dave
what the fu*ck are u talking about buddy u come to a mma site and challenge people to get into a boxing ring thats what kansas rj are talking about they aint trying to say the would kick a boxers azzzzz in the ring they are inviting a boxer without “altering”rules to fight mma not boxing i said lennox lewis will never be a top fighter in the world and he never will be a top boxer maybe but not fighter cuz in a mma match fedor would whoop that azzzzz and i dont want to hear anymore of people stepping in a boxing ring this is a mma site
@RBF DAVE
January 31, 1829
The American Spectator – Jan. 1984
President Jackson,
The canal system of this country is being threatened by the spread of a new form of transportation known as railroads. The federal government must preserve the canals for the following reasons:
One, if boats are supplanted by railroads, serious unemployment will result. Captains, cooks, drivers, hostlers, repairmen, and lock tenders will be left without means of livelihood, not to mention the numerous farmers now employed in growing hay for horses.
Two, boat builders would suffer and towline, whip, and harness makers would be left destitute.
Three, canal boats are absolutely essential to the defense of the United States. In the event of the expected trouble with England, the Erie Canal would be the only means by which we could ever move the supplies so vital to waging modern war.
As you may well know, Mr. President, railroad carriages are pulled at the enormous speed of 15 miles per hour by engines which, in addition to endangering life and limb of passengers, roar and snort their way through the countryside, setting fire to crops, scaring the livestock and frightening women and children. The Almighty certainly never intended that people travel at such breakneck speed.
Sincerely Yours,
Martin Van Buren
Governor of New York
Some people have a problem with change, especially when they are ignorant, Martin Van Buren had great “credentials” as you CLAIM to have, but he was threatened by something greater than what he understood, as you are by MMA…. boxing is the old way, one dimentional, you feel threatened by the eroding of the old, the process of your sport being replaced by a superior combat sport… that is okay, you will see in a few years that just like all the racists who didn’t want change, just like all the rugby lovers who hated the NFL, and just like all of the basketball players who said that “black people slam dunking that ball is eroding the skill level of the sport” were wrong…. you feel threatened that is obvious… in a few years there will be nothing left of your sport, in America that is.. but hey you can always go to Mexico, because that is where the sport is heading AMIGO… quote me some more “names” and lets have a bigger pissing contest… lol
Whoa! watch out there Kansas! did you hear what his Daddys done??
LOL, dog, ill step in the ring with you.. but dont be surprised if i rape that kneecap.. lets see how great your movement is after 3-4 low kicks.
Kansas put it best, all insults aside.. the age of boxing is coming to an end.. i was a pretty big boxing fan, because i like to watch fights, but compare that to mma and its NOTHING man!
Boxing is more like a game than a fight, talking about their great movement, what about when they have their feet planted trying to bob and weave? impractical in real life situations. Or when they put all their weight on the front leg, like ALL heavyweight boxers do.
Lets not compare sports, because its like apples and oranges.. instead lets put them on a level ground that everyone can understand.
A streetfight! so daddys little boxer, who do you think would have the advantage there??
@B.V.
thank you bro! i have been trying to make that point from day one…
the point is mma fighters are tougher than any other athlete. if we all went back to thinking like apes who would rule as alpha male? would it be the guy who can fight like a kickboxer on his feet and roll like a BJJ blackbelt on the ground or the guy with great footwork and a sweet jab? mma is the closest thing to “real” fighting as you can get. thats why boxing is on it way out because you know what is going to happen in a boxing match every time two men will dance and punch and dance and punch and dance and punch some more. in an mma fight who knows did anyone think Gonzaga was gonna KO CroCop with a head kick? can you tell me how Gonzaga vs. Couture will go? i dont think you can say for sure but i’ll bet the Hopkins vs. Wright boxing match will be two men dancing and punching for 12 rounds till the judges give it to the guy with better dance moves or the guy with the sweeter jabs ether way i’m not sure if people are gonna care much in the years to come. the real good boxers should start brushing up on there ground skills if that wanna keep eating without getting a job at walmart.
WHOA! Can I get a witness! Somebody shout AMEN! lol… good points friends… all of them makes sense, I am sure our boxing friends will be back…. they would argue with a red light, even if it was green…. ITS RED DANG IT! CAUSE IT USED TO BE RED SO ITS STILL RED! ..lol
@Dr J
Can you please replace the picture on this post with an updated picture of Tommy Morrison? This one doesn’t “serve” him well…. he is now 38, and looks like his uncle Dog the Bounty Hunter…. Tommy the Bounty Hunter Morrison…lol
lol Dog the mullet hunter!!!
this pic does make tommy look tuff
@ Kansas, RJ, BVRASP, RICHARD
First Kansas, put away the 7th grade social studies book and listen to what I am saying. MMA is hot right now, I have already conceded that. The athletes are some of the very best athletes in the world, bar none. I believe I have already said that. What I can’t believe is that you really think that a sport that has been around for the last 5-10 years is going to replace boxing. Boxing isn’t going anywhere!! You really think that a sport that has been around for as long as boxing has is just gonna disappear? You seem pretty knowledgeable in the fight game. Obviously you have done your homework and make a lot of sense when you post. Please don’t think I wanna get into a pissing match with you, thats not what I am about. Don’t hate on me because I have had a successful career in boxing. Like I said before, I like MMA!! It is very exciting and new!! I hope it can stand the test of time cause I have seen some great fights!! In no way am I threatened by MMA. But make no mistake about it, boxing isn’t going anywhere!
@BVRASP, I come across haters like you all the time. I hear you say things like ” look at what his Daddy has done” and Daddy’s little boxer.” I understand when one falls short of their own goals, they must criticize the next guy. I can sympathize with you. It must suck having to drive a 82 ford escort to the local Kmart to go to work. Don’t worry, you only have 14 more payments and then it’s yours!!You talk about raping my kneecaps and catching me with low kicks?? If you didn’t get a chance to read my last post, Let me say it again…I am a boxing trainer!! I am not an MMA fighter or trainer. I am sure you probably would rape my knee caps and catch me with low kicks. But at the same time if you came over to my sport, I would beat on you for a few rounds and then put you to sleep. So in the end, what have we really accomplished?? In a street fight I would give the advantage to an MMA guy. MMA is the closest thing to a street fight. I would also have to agree that MMA fighters are tougher than boxers because they have more weapons. The most intelligent thing you said it is like comparing oranges and apples. There is no comparison, but I am not knocking MMA fighters or the sport.
@RJ
Well, of all the postings, I must say yours make the most sense. I also appreciate you leaving the insults out. I agree with you on everything you said except that boxing is on it’s way out. Your comment about Gonzaga and CroCop was right on. MMA is exciting because it is so unpredictable. At anytime, anyone can pull off the upset. Good call on the Hopkins/Wright fight, it sucked!!
@Richard
I guess the only thing I can say to you is: What the hell did that last post even say?? I have never seen a paragraph with no punctuation marks, No capital letters, and only one sentence that made absolutely no sense!! Do me a favor, Since Kansas is going through his attic and catching up on his 7th grade Social Studies, ask him if you can borrow his 2nd grade English book. You remember the one that says: “See **** and Jane”, “See Spot run.” Is it all coming back to you?
Look guys, I have a blast talkin smack with you guys! I love to hear your opinions and yes, even your insults. Please don’t take anything I say personal cause it is all in good fun. I don’t take this sh_t serious. At the same time, I mean no disrespect to anyone here. I hear your passion when it comes to MMA. I agree with most everything you say, except that boxing is finished. I just love messin with you guys!! I really can’t wait to hear the responses I get back from this one!! This is gonna be fun!! Good luck guys in all that you do!! I am sure you guys are all great guys and look forward to talking to you all again!!
RBF Dave
@RBF Dave
Firstly, i wasnt the one who brought up your dads accomplishments, i just thought that was pretty funny lol. Thats why i was ripping on you, you must admit, you walked right into that one.
About me being a hater, you dont see me on any boxing forums bashing your sport and talking about how mma is the best. Remember that, you came here talking the trash, so you instigated it.. meaning, that would make you the hater. Im just defending what i love and what i believe is the superior form of physical combat.
That other garbage about my car and walmart.. blah blah, your not saying much there, just generic insults trying to get back at me. You could have read some of the stuff ive posted, about my training and my experience in martial arts, then come up with something a little more creative ..
Also, im pretty sure that the inception of classical martial arts preceeds that of what can be classified as fist boxing. Its all in the history, martial arts was created by men who were forbidden to have any weapons and were forced to adapt in order to protect their freedoms and families. Modern martial arts is a practice that is always changing and evolving, which is more than you can say for boxing. Can you really see boxing changing much? as far as the sport goes, it reached its peak long ago, its levelled off, flat lined.. i believe that its days are numbered, not to say it will cease to exist, i mean its popularity is dropping every day and much fewer young guys aspire to become boxers as opposed to mixed martial artists. You say mma is just a fad lol, i remember when i was like 12 and my uncle told me rap music was just a fad, and it would never make the kind of impact on society that rock has. I think we all know how that turned out.
In closing, i dont take it personal either, i welcome all comments and opinions, but if i disagree with you, your gonna know about it.
Hey has anyone seen the response dana white wrote in response to john gross open letter regarding steroids and criticizing dana’s apparent running of the company……freegin hilarious!!!!
@Todd
I’ve looked around on ESPN and Sherdog and have not found the response. Where did you see it I was curious to see what Dana had to say myself.
yea it was on sherdog in the little thread section on the right, but i just went on there and it wasnt on there. Damn i shouldave copied it!!!!!!! Hey doc!!!!!!!!!!! do you think you can find it for us!!!!
rbfdave
Do I need to start using commas and punctuations when i write?I have so much ideas sometimes I dont make sense ,but dont use me not knowing when to use punctuations to say or try to imply {dont know how to spell that} that i dont know what im talking about.
@Todd,
Here is Dana’s response to Josh Gross’ article on Sherdog:
***********
My response to idiot Gross:
Its funny how when bad things happen, you love to call me out and say that I need to jump in and fix it. All the positive things that Zuffa has done over the past 6 years and you write me an open letter telling me to fix the problem of fighters using steroids? You are the biggest idiot I have ever met in this industry. Josh “holier than now” Gross writes a letter full of insults and sarcasm about what my company and I have accomplished since buying the UFC- like it was some easy chore. This is the same scumbag who released the finalists of TUF season 4 before it even aired. Josh, before you start trying to fix my company, worry about the potential lying, corruptions and inaccuracies at your own ****** website.
To all the fighters out there that fight for me or another promotion: these fan boy websites come kissing your *** when they want to shoot video of you or get an interview so they can make money off you. But when you make a mistake, they will be right there to kick your teeth down your throat. One of the great things that has happened over the past 6 years is that real media covers us now. So when these fan boy self proclaimed MMA websites want to do video interviews or any other kind of interview to make themselves money tell them to stop calling you and leave you alone. They are not doing you any favors- they are making money off of you. I have not let Sherdog into a UFC event in years. And the UFC is doing just fine.
Anyway, back to steroids- every athlete on this planet knows what’s going on with steroids right now and we make it very clear what the athletic commission will do to them if they are caught. In fact, to my knowledge, athletes competing in combative sports are the only ones in the world who get drug tested by the government, that’s a pretty high standard to meet. Imagine if every NBA, MLB or NFL athlete was drug tested by the government every time they competed? That’s a very high standard yet UFC fighters face government drug testing every time they enter the Octagon.
Everyone knows that it hurts me and my company badly when one of my fighters tests positive for steroids. Listen Josh “save the whales” Gross- I can’t save the world by myself. So roll your boss back into the ocean and write a letter “Attention all promoters.” When your product is human beings, there are always going to be problems and nothing is ever going to be perfect.
Gross, you have no clue the stuff I deal with on a daily basis with fighters. Myself and the UFC are adamantly opposed to the use of steroids or any other kind of drugs. Most of these guys that fight in the UFC are my friends and I care about them. My job isn’t to smash them publicly and ruin their lives. Apparently, that’s your job. My job is to help them through whatever problems they might have- professional or personal.
I don’t know if anyone has ever seen Josh Gross but the guy has never done anything athletic in his entire life. And you only have to see Jeff Sherwood and his staff to know the same thing about them. These people don’t know the first thing about the demands and challenges that professional athletes are faced with. I have my own opinion of Sherdog and Gross and how they run their business but I don’t write open letters to the public about it. So for these goofy supposed fan boy clowns to sit around and write letters about what I need to do with my company and my athletes is ******* hilarious.
You guys just keep selling DVDs and chasing my guys around for video interviews so you can make more money and keep eating and I will handle the UFC and it’s fighters.
Dana White
Thanks Dr J that was awsome. Dana is funny as hell I have a new found respect for him. No wonder Sherdog took the response down so quickly because it makes them look pretty dumb also. Dana has no controll over the fighters ability to do steroids but stiping Sherks title like they did Tim after he got caught would be fair.
@BVRASP
Your right, I did kinda walk into that. But anyway, I tend to agree with you on most of what you said. Especially the rap music part. Great comparison!! I was probably too strong when I said MMA was a fad. I sincerely do like the sport! I truly hope it is around to stay. At no time did I ever bash MMA! It is definitely an alternative to boxing, which I also believe it at one of it’s lowest points ever. I have been around the game for a while now and a lot of the excitement, parity, and pizazz has disappeared. The last 2 big fights (DeLaHoya/Mayweather & Hopkins/Wright) were a complete joke!! MMA has definitely hurt boxing popularity, no question. But like most things, it will come back strong. Jut a matter of time. It is like the eighties when they said the heavyweight division was bad. It seemed Tyson was the only good heavyweight around. Well, I am glad you don’t take my jabs @ you personally. It is all in good fun, but in the end I respect everyone and their opinions, even yours. I truly believe MMA is an excellent alternative to boxing. I also believe it does have the ability to sustain the test of time, especially with execs like Dana White. He most definitely serves the sport well. I understand this is a MMA site. I just waned to get in the conversation because so much was being said about Tommy Morrison. I thought I could give everyone some insight on what the real situation was with him and Chuck, and his MMA fight. Good post BVRASP! You definitely sound like your very knowledgeable about your sport. Look forward to more!! All the best to you and yours!!

P.S. You gotta admit, you chuckled a little about the escort and K Mart joke……….LOL Take it easy!! D

@Todd
i hope you didnt spend your hard earned money on that mag.
nope seen it on sherdog
ahh that makes sense. they got some real winners over there.
yea they are some buzzards!!!!
i really hope that if Fedor come to the UFC he doesnt lose his first or second fight. i think he is due to lose at some point soon. i dont care how bad asss you are at some point your going to have a bad night and i know all the Fedor haters will go ape sh*t if he loses his first or second fight in the UFC just like they did with CroCop. remember kids one loss is nothing but the haters will go off about over rated fighter and blah blah blah.
rj
great video man but the missed the best one rio chonans flying scissors kick on anderson silva,i think couture if he can get by gonzaga might have a chance against fedor and if gonzaga wins then maybe gonzaga
@RBF Dave
Nice to see we can both be mature about it.. though we can both also be immature, its fun sometimes hehe
peace man.
@RJ
haha ya nice video man.. there were some ugly submissions in that video man lol. Things that would never happen these days because everyone has little BJJ knowledge now. Like that leg scissor choke! LOL i couldnt stop laughing when i saw that! how did that guy manage to get his head caught in there lol rookie..
@B.V.
yeah no doubt most of those subs were kinda funny to see someone tap on. the scissor and the bulldog would funny to see nowadays. the anaconda Nog does was awesome dude really looks like a snake wrapping up his prey. funny stuff….thats why i said you BJJ guys would like it lol because i bet you were sitting there saying “man i would never get cough like that those guys need some BJJ”
@Richard
I dont know if i would say Gonzaga can beat Fedor but that is one match up i have been thinking about lately. the styles would match up really well and it would be a very exciting fight or a very boring one. i think Gonzaga has of lot of the tools to shut down Fedors game and vice versa. i think Fedor would be to much for Gonzaga in the end but than again i also though CroCop was gonna kick Gonzagas head off his shoulders lol.
