Former UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre gave an interview yesterday with a the FAN 590, a Canadian sports radio station based out of Toronto. I figured some of you might be interested so here it is. Also on the show were David Loiseau and Riccardo Ammendolia.

In the interview, GSP acknowledges that he didn’t prepare properly for Matt Serra and only had two weeks of training. He acknowledges that he bought into the “hype” surrounding himself and says he took Serra lightly. GSP says his knee still wasn’t 100% for the Serra fight, and if the fight had been against Matt Hughes he wouldn’t have taken the fight.
St. Pierre also said that his next fight hasn’t been confirmed yet and no fight contract is signed. Josh Koscheck is widely speculated to be GSP’s next opponent based on previous statements from Stephan Patry (St. Pierre’s manager).

I love you MoreThanUFC, you are totally right with you assumption that St. Pierre has no heart. Because if GSP had heart, he could beat the likes of Miller, Trigg, Sherk, Penn, and Hughes in a row. You need heart to beat those 5 in a year and a half time span. Oh wait, GSP did do that…….

who’s the moron guest host on this show – there is no one else associated with this radio station that know’s anything about mma? – no japanese fighters other than okami?!? (there have been too many to go over all of them – caol uno and yuki condo come to mind). “uhhh gsp lost his title to – was it rich franklin?” Maybe do a little research next time, dude. It certainly would not have been hard to find out who gsp lost to at ufc 69 for crying out loud. On a positive note, the guy who did the interviews was good.

First: Just because Matt Hughes is a hick doesn’t mean he is less than GSP, he kicked GSP’s azz the first fight, so shut up idiot, everyone has a bad night.
Second:GSP is a great fighter, he just didn’t do well, so what, he will come back and win, perhaps he was a little cocky, so what it happens, he’s young, to say he has no heart is overdoing it, he was dumb for not training harder is more accurate.
Last: If some of you are as fickle with other aspects of your life as you are with MMA fighters, seriously you need to get a grip, people make mistakes and win and lose, I would hate to be your wife and kids…. I am sure you are all perfect especially the ones of you who train like myself and think your mini-mma fighters, (yeah right, like any of you could hang with any of the guys in the octagon).

I must say, if Gonzaga was an Anglo American or European you would probably be on his nuts right now, idiot, but unfortunately for you Brazil puts out some of the best fighters in the world and I don’t see Gonzaga losing in the near future. As big of a GSP fan that I am… I am really suprised why he would come out trying to justify himself like this. It is very “tim sylvia” of him to say this, but at the same time if its all true, then its just him stating what really happened.
But everyone knows that GSP is gonna come back crushing again.

well after a champion ship match is over the champion is not suppost top fight in a title match 4 atleast 4 months ive studied this but when gsp won he had to fight serra in a couple of month so he did not have time 2 heal but hey he agreed to fight so i give him crdit there goin into a fight when hes not 100% healed so he is a champ in my books

In case you guys missed it, GSP went on the Beatdown radio show, (sherdog.com) after this interview and apologized for ‘making excuses’ in this interview. He said that everywhere he went people were asking him why he lost and he finally had to give them an answer. Anyway, as far as the ‘Tim Silvia’ comparison, that’s ****** way off, Silvia fought ‘not to lose’, u know, not putting it on the line for the finish, just the win. That is the exact opposite of GSP, he always has exciting fights, he will be back. He is young and VERY professional. Is he the best? Time will tell, I think he is, but we will just have to wait. Kos is dead f’n meat tho, he won’t be able to fight GSP like he did Sanchez, that’s for sure. Now that i think about it, Kos’s fight with Sanchez was alot like Silvia/Monson, but that’s just me.

i’m not 100% sure but i dont think it was Sanchez who brought up the hepasiphalitis (i cant remember what it was) i think it was just the NSAC was saying he had a positive test for something and almost couldnt fight Koscheck.
GSP was just being real about the situation. His ego got too big and he was little over confident he though serra was a easy challenge. He was also not 100%. He also thinks matt hughes is a tougher fighter. What the hell is wrong with that?
