Re:Todd’s comment #94
Todd, you say that we always wonder what would have happened if this guy from this era would have met that guy from that era and fought it out to see who is the best. Since boxing has been around for so long, that is an impossibility. However, in the short lifespan of MMA…we are currently witnessing the greatest MMA fighter of all time (Fedor), and many others who are incredibly good. This IS a possibility for us to see and judge. Maybe I’m wrong but I get the impression that on one hand your talking as if Chuck is the G-d of MMA and then a few sentences later your using excuses about his age and so on. According to that philosophy, you are implying that Chuck has done it all and therefore that is the reason why the UFC has not brought in any legitimate competition in the years of his reign.
There can be only one argument…either Chuck needs to fight the best of the best OR continue to ease his way into retirement.
On another note, even though Randy Couture is a genetic one of a kind freak…he is much older than Chuck AND has been through many more brutal wars than Chuck as well that would have negatively impacted his body. So, either Chuck is on top of his game OR he has not been for a while now, depending on how you look at it.
Of course no one is asking Chuck to give up the belt, what we are asking is to see Dana AND Chuck put some top notch guys in front of him.
I read all the post you guys put up today! some great points! cant wait for this fight yall! another week or so..

?WoW!
You guys never cease to amaze me….
Sounds like some of you are assuming that quint is “real competition” for me. You say that I’ve never fought anybody that counts.
Well, let me tell you that Randy is way more competition than those hypesters like tito and quint….all talk no action.,
the only reason quint got the tko from me is because I was gassed from the first two Pride chumps. I just threw too many bombs, and my arms were like limp noodles, so quint never got the chance to feel a real man’s power.
this time will be different, and the only thing quint will beat is my meat. In fact, he’ll be wearing lipstick and high heals on May 27…that is, after he wakes up!
HILLBILLY
do u feel powerfull talking like the iceman kinda creepy like in psycho do u secretly put liddel shorts and have conversations with ur self CREEPY
…sounds more like Sam Kinison….
Diik, what are you talking about?
come on HILLBILLY u gave urself away with “HYPSTERS” come on
@ICEFAN
i dont think anyone said chuck hasnt fought good competition, theyre saying he never fought anyone who has KO power in his hands who also has a good chin. Its true he hasnt.. thats not to say chuck isnt the greatest UFC light heavyweight fighter of all time, because he is. Is he the best in the world? we dont know.. nobody knows.. we can all just speculate. Rampage is a good test for chuck because he brings some tools to the fight that chuck hasnt seen in a long time.
BV, I hear you bro, but I’ve read…

“The debate is still there…who has Chuck really fought in the last few years???â€
That is a good question.

…this said waaaaaaay too many times…
@at amir comment 101,ok first of all randy coutoure he is a grappler/wrestler, so of course he would be in deep and gut wrenching battles, chuck is a striker, so even if the level of competition is not that good for chuck it really wouldnt matter because hes standing knocking them out anyway. And im not saying chuck is a god of mma or even the ufc for that matter. All i am saying is that chuck fought his way to the title. He did what he had to do period to get to where he is at. There is nothing we couldave did in order for him to face the best. The best fighters that are out there TODAY, were not around during chuck’s rise to the top. I mean they were around but they were not prominent then like they were now. Ya know what i mean?
And yes just like i said, maybe there is politics and dana is protecting chuck.
And regards to his age im not using his age as some kind of escape goat to justify why chuck didnt fight anyone im just saying he is and old guy now and he basically just has bad timing thats all. Depending on how you guys are looking at it……it’s like people are basically asking….’is he really in his prime or is it all a fluke because he has not fought any “competition”.
Yes i wanna see him fight the top dogs just as we all do, but since this deal has just went down, WHEN will we get to see it. Will it be with chuck? Who knows
Wellll… Chuck is the champ in the UFC, so that is that. And if they decide to limit his competition, all you can do is smile and pay to see the champ fight the chumps .. of course it would be nice to see Chuck fight someone in the top 7 of his league, a top contender is usually in the top 3-4 .. but that is not his fault, he is just a yes man that fights whomever they tell him to, just like Wand, Henderson, or any other champion or fighter, they just say yes massa and do it .. so go chuck, I hope you beat the best competition you have fought in over a year and a half, it should be a decent test, fighting the number 8 guy should be the best competition we can hope for right now for the champ until the Pride deal is finalized or an agreement for fighter exchanges can be made, like Shogun,Wand, ect .. even Cro Cop moving down would be an improvement on the division by leaps and bounds..
@Amir
Wand, Belfort, and Henderson have all been around during Chucks reign, as well as Rampage, and Cro Cop. .. the problem was they were in other orgs .. so …he did not fight the best of his time during his rise to the top, he repeated and threepeated a bunch of UFC guys that were less than top 5 competitors, none of that biased bull amigo .. this isn’t inside politics and we aren’t being politically correct to appease and keep the peace, the truth is in the record and it is what it is .. this will be Chucks first real test since Couture .. period… he has basically been on vacation for a year ..
@dennis
you keep talking about how liddell was gas from his other fights in pride are you trying to say he didnt train in between the fights? im not sure if you know but the three fights liddell had in pride didnt happen in the same night. he fought mezger in 2001 and he fought overeem in aug. 03 and jackson in nov. 03.
SUP DUDES
thank you kansas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vacation is about to end…. back to reality .. I hope Chuck wins …..

YO DOC
WHAT THE HECK EVER HAPPENED TO MONSON FIGHTING SIMS????
@Patrick
Monson dislocated his shoulder, is having surgery.. did it in practice, that’s what happens when you “Juice up” to get big and then get off that stuff later in life, it can literally cripple you and cause your muscles to tear and dislocate .. I don’t know if he ever used the stuff but he looks pretty juiced up..
YEA I AGREE
Honestly, im goin for Rampage baby! true pimp! heh
i think it will go to the scorecards
im going on rampage burkman and salavary the only matches that really matter ivan salavary is a force to be reckoned with the mans an animal but if terry martin pulls this off like he did his last be careful silva
People are putting too much stock in Shogun. Sorry, but if they meet in the next year, Chuck ‘ll win. And Wandy Silva?? Come on. He’ll be to scared of Chuck’s “looping right” to go crazy on him. But I do predict that Chuck will loose the crown by year’s end. I just don’t know who. Don’t count out Rampage…
NOW I KNOW WHY U WERE AWAY SO LONG U WERE THINKING OF THE DUMBEST THING TO SAY TO REALLY MAKE UR PRESENCE FELT!!!!!!!
@Brian
I really think you haven’t given Chuteboxe the credit it deserves. Nobody is putting too much stock in Shogun, he has simply proven himself to be a great fighter and will be the perfect Chuteboxe Brazilian fighter to carry the torch for his mentor Wanderlei, (who is not even close to finished unless he chooses, man there are some fair weather fickle fight fans here). I think Wand will get up from his terrible loss just like Chuck got up from getting killed by Rampage in Pride… what is so different about them.. Wand is only 30 years old . . and so… the point is that Shogun is the future of 205, GSP is the future of 170, I think these are obvious and accurate statements based on ranking, and record.
ICEFAN where you at?? how you like grays performance? i know, i know, weems is nothing, but still.. Its official im picking Gray to win this season. Hes definately not the toughest guy there, but i think hes the smartest.
u guys no whats getting annoying KANSAS NO DISRESPECT people saying gsp is the future but if the past comes and kicks ur azzz how really good are u him being the future is his downfall hes living in the future to bad were in the present
@Richard
good point..
I DONT KNOW WHAT TO THINK ABOUT GSP ANYMORE
Yea i just dont understand how you can let something like that get to your head to the point where you get like matt hughes,not arrogant or nothing, but just lapsing living off the hype. I mean basically how matt hughes was going in the fight just trying to find a “way” to win, thats is what that buzzard did(gsp)…and got knocked out, horribly too. He just didnt get punched and fell and big john stopped it, this went on for like 20 seconds!!!!!! But i still like him and i think he can be champ but I mean its one thing to live into the hype but dont let it get to your head to the extent to where you are training for like a week or two, common gsp!!!!! Your better than that
Ive never been a fan of Matt Hughes, but I will say this for him. He is consistent, he was and still is pretty dominant though not exciting, and he didn’t let the hype get to him for a very long time, I think however since he has fought pretty much the best his division had to offer he has grown complacent with the fight game, almost distracted .. so I don’t expect that he will be the champ for a long reign again….
i have been very disappointed with st.pierre lately. he is a young fighter who does not have a huge amount of fights under his belt yet and has already won a couple of titles but i dont think that makes him a hall of famer just yet. he needs to spend the next 5 or 6 years working hard and dominating like he did in his first 14 fights. i never really thought about it untill i read matt serra’s rebuttal but st.pierre said some assh*le things about that fight.
i always like hughes, tho hes a *** lol, his fights are pretty exciting in my opinion when he fights guys that are up to his caliber. Like his fights with Carlos, Sakurai, BJ, Royce.. i was on the edge of my seat man. I guess it has more to do with the actual matchups than his fighting style, but watever it is.. i like it hehe.
Hes a beast at 170 and hes got the skills to back it up too, the only problem being he has no standup game.. but nobodys perfect..
RJ you fell off for a while, where you been playa?
@BV
Like I said Matt has a lot of fights against big players, but Penn beat him, then Matt beat him, WHERE IS THE RUBBER MATCH because Bj will win if it happens, then there is the Carlos Newton fight… where Matt got the title. Matt lost that fight, he passed out in that triangle and everyone knows his body went limp and that is why they fell to the ground and Carlos got rocked… but.. it was Carlos who basically got the blood choke on Hughes for the win, unfortunately Matt won that because of a bad call on the part of the ref, there was never a rematch, and the UFC has swept it under the rug. I have issues with that…
Gray is my #5 pick…. Still believe Nate will win…
Carlos gave up fighting for Rap…joining the hypesters…
Hughes will always be a legend…
Shogun is the future of LHW….
I think that about covers it.
Kansas, i hear you bro! id love to see the rubber match! the question is, is BJ up to it? i know Hughes is down like a clown.. BJ moved down to lightweight.. im sure he will move back up at SOME point.. and we will see that match, cuz dana owns both those guys now.. BJ put in a big effort being on TUF an everything, i think hes gon stay in the UFC for good now.. Will BJ win? really, its a coin flip, anything could happen.. will BJ train hard enough? theres alot of unanswered wuestions.. just like you i cant wait till theyre answered, oh, i got my money on Hughes tho hehe
About Carlos, i think Carlos should have won that fight too.. Im pretty sure it was Herb Dean reffing that fight too heh.. I actually asked carlos about that fight, if hughes went out, he laughed and said matt hughes is a great champion..
Dont diss Carlos ICEFAN.. hes probably the most honorable mma fighter out there.. and a legend in his own time, when he beat miletich for the title and became ufc champ. Thats stripes man..
I am making an early prediction:
RAMPAGE JACKSON will be the winner –
I hope for Chuck, (I seriously like Chuck better and thought previously that he would win) but Jackson is gonna win this. I have spent all morning reviewing videos, seriously, Vernon white has maybe 1/20th of the skill that Jackson has, but they both have the same heart and chin, Vernon gassed Chuck, took everything he could dish, it was seriously a straight right that Chuck didn’t even concentrate on that hit Vernon and knocked him out, and it looked like Vernon got poked in the right eye, same as Couture in the second fight and Tito in the first fight. Jackson took a TON of knees before Wand beat him, and so I believe Mr. Jackson has the chin to take everything Chuck can throw at him, and the strength and conditioning to get the Iceman on the ground and finish the fight.
ok, so thats me, kansas and ofcourse richard who lookin for Rampage to take the title. The worst that could happen is if its a boring fight that goes to the scorecards. Like if rampage gets the takedown then gasses from the slams and just lays on top of chuck..
HOPEFULLY! its gonna be an action packed fight man! cuz im getting really hyped up for this matchup.
bvrasp that will be the worst that could happen but for sure someone is getting koed be it rampage or liddel.some news u guys might not know rampage is coming out with a shoe
Something you all might not know…Rampage will also be going out with a shoe……in his ***!
