I know we are only mere hours after Chuck Liddell losing his UFC Light Heavyweight, but there appears to be some exciting news for Liddell fans.

It appears that the “dream fight” between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva that we were all promised several months ago, might in fact now happen. Might… I said might happen, so don’t take this as fact just yet.

During the post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White said that the Liddell-Silva fight might be just around the corner.

Liddell said after [that] he planned to continue fighting, with UFC president Dana White saying Brazilian Wanderlei Silva would be his likely next opponent.

Now, Wanderlei Silva recently said he was planning on taking the rest of 2007 off, but I’m sure the UFC could throw enough money his way to convince him to fight. This fight didn’t make much sense before last night, as Silva has been KO’d in his last two fights and Chuck was on his winning streak. But now with Liddell getting KO’d and losing his belt, it seems like the atmosphere is ripe for the Liddell vs Silva fight we have been looking to see for a while.
