Ken Shamrock WWFLets hope not…

Originally, Bisping was reported to be fighting Matt Hamill at UFC 75 in England. Today, Loretta Hunt from The FightNetwork is reporting that Ken Shamrock will come out of retirement to fight Michael Bisping at UFC 75.

The overseas new may not end there. Loretta Hunt, managing editor for The Fight Network’s MMA content, has learned that UFC Hall-of-Famer Ken Shamrock will come out of retirement to face British superstar Michael Bisping at UFC 75. Shamrock, who retired following his TKO loss to Tito Ortiz in October, coached against Bisping (13-0, 3-0 UFC) on season three of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

Bisping, who has won all 13 of his professional bouts by KO, TKO or submission, was originally scheduled to face Matt Hamill on the card – the fight was even promoted by Ticketmaster. The 28-year-old defeated veteran Elvis Sinosic at UFC 70 in April.

    O GOD …. GIMMIE AN EFFEN BREAK

  2. R.J. St.Croix says:

    i kinda hope this is true. i get a little joy from watching a Shamrock get beat up there just so cocky.

  3. richard says:

    michael bisbing really needs to start asking for better competition its lose loseif he wins nobodys gonna respect him and if he loses then hes fu*cked

  4. zak says:

    u wanna talk about washed up? its ken shamrock. He wont last 5 minutes with bisbing. Hes old slow and never was that good. Matt Hamill would be by far Bisbings biggest test and would show us what the tu3 finale should have looked like. **** ken shamrock let him fight against other falling stars like stephan bonnar or something. Why waste bisbings time? is shamrock gonna get a title shot or even move up the ladder if he wins? Well if so just call Tito so he can shut him up again

  5. Amir says:

    This is just getting ridiculous…is there not one fighter for Bisping to compete against? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…JOE SILVA NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!

  6. richard says:

    honestly if this match does happen joe really needs to go its just another attempt for the ufc to put a blanket over there stars again look at evens hes fighting tito i really hope ken kicks bisbings azzzz

  7. richard says:

    DRJ
    whats up with the wwf pic of ken u dont like him or what?

  8. MMAKansas says:

    LOL! If Ken wanted to come back, he should have done it at 185, he is too short with too short a reach to fight these young guys!…. oh well, if a man wants to fight you can’t stop him, I think it’s Kens right to get in there, he is a legend, and a former champion. He has beaten some greats in his time. I think he is very cocky, but whatever, a lot of fighters are.. so what.. at least he isn’t as much of a jerk as his younger brother.. I think this should not even be a headliner though, I also think they need to stack MORE fights on the card with a BETTER QUALITY card because what I saw Saturday was okay, but it was “blockbuster video $5 rental” okay…

  9. bvrasp says:

    I wouldnt say its a lose-lose situation for Bisping Richard, i mean, its a good opportunity for Bisping to get a win over a guy whos a household name. Hes obviously over the hill, but look at Tommy Morrison, everyone talks about his win over Foreman, and foreman was over the hill when they fought lol.

    It even looks good on rich franklins resume.. hehe

  10. Dr J says:

    @Richard,

    lol. I just thought the pic was pretty funny. Shamrock’s not my favorite fighter, but I don’t have anything against him.

  11. MMAKansas says:

    I think that there are a lot of fighters, really good fighters that never have made it nor ever will make it to the UFC hall of fame, Ken made it… he IS a household name and I think it’s kinda disrespectful to say “He was never that good” I mean, you say that when he is over 40 years old, kinda crappy, if he was 28 all over again, I am telling you, he would be in the top 10 in his division, maybe the top 5 …. Foreman was awesome at his age, even in defeat people were going for him… I would EXPECT Bisping to win, but I would HOPE for ol’ Ken to upset Michael and take one more …

  12. richard says:

    i understand someone getting a easy win ,as easy as u can get considering its a fight, bisbing has a perfect record yet he faught sinosic a fighter who had more losses than wins there is a lot of fighters out there that bisbing can fight ,i dont know it just bothers me that bisbing is so cocky and he really hasnt beat any really good fighters yet

  13. MMAKansas says:

    @Richard

    I can understand that amigo, definitely, I saw him out of his seat gallivanting around at UFC 72 talking crap on some of the fighters that were there to “work” that night…. he is young, cocky, worshiped in his country, liked for the most part in America, yep, he is the epitome of a young fighter that is on the verge of tasting a real fight sooner or later and it is gonna slap him into reality for sure, but for now, it would be funny to see him get whipped by OLD Ken Shamrock, who HAS beaten somebodies and HAS a reason to carry a little swagger..

  14. richard says:

    KANSAS
    If this fight happens ill be going for ken for sure hes got ko power ,u know what i change my mind i hope ken trains his azzzzz off and beats the hell out of bisbing

  15. richard says:

    kansas
    i thought u went to brazil?

  16. MMAKansas says:

    One other thing… sorry but I think Ken has a better chance against Bisping than Hamill is such a girl when he gets hurt, I hate to say it but I cannot STAND that guy, he is NOT UFC MATERIAL, I would dare say ELVIS SINOSIC would have been VICTORIOUS had he been fighting MATT HAMILL rather than Michael Bisping… at least Ken is tough as nails and can take some injuries and keep fighter, whereas Matt would probably start screaming.. sorry he would start SIGNING about how bad he wants SCREAM .. lol.. mean I know..

  17. MMAKansas says:

    @ RICHARD

    I am going to Brazil August 1st through the 16th ..

  18. R.J. St.Croix says:

    i fully respect Ken Shamrock and all but i really dont like the cocky bullsh*t and what i mean by that is its one thing to be a legend and know you are but it another to go around telling people you are. even when Shamrock was losing more then he was winning he walked around like “i’m f*ckin Ken Shamrock who the f*ck are you?” when you are on a losing streak dont go around talking sh*t, go to the gym and work harder win some more fights and then talk sh*t if you feel the need. i feel the same way about Frank, this guy has had 11 fights in the last decade and yes most have been wins but this hardly seems like a legendary run when you look at guys like Chuck Liddell who fought 24 times in less time or Wanderlei Silva who fought 39 times since ’96 or the best yet Fedor Emelianenko who fought and won 26 out of 27 times in just 7 years. long story short if your name is Shamrock just shut your mouth and fight, we all know you can you dont need to tell us how great you are AGAIN.

  19. PATRICK says:

    DOC ANY WORD FROM TEAM PITBULL

  20. Amir says:

    I think the problem with these “old-timers” is that they believe they deserve the respect just because…they were there in the beginning. At this stage in Shamrock’s career, it is obvious that his competitive fire is gone and he fights only for the money. As a fan, I find that disrespectful and un-entertaining. He even admitted it to Titty after their 3rd fight…about how they made a lot of money together.

    They brought him in to get pummeled by Franklin when he was coming up…so he’s become somewhat of a “journeymen” in the UFC like Elvis…which means that if he gets by him…Bisping is the real deal? gimme a break!!!I’m starting to get really sick of pre-fight hype that turns out to be a promotion tool…That is why I genuinely want to see Shamrock vs. Baroni…because they really hate each other.

  21. bvrasp says:

    I think old guys should only fight other old guys.. it was interesting at first to see if they can hang with the younger fighters, but its obvious they CANT. So let them fight guys at about the same skill level, other old guys.

  22. Amir says:

    I’d prefer if they realize they are past their prime and just retire for their own safety, families, and fans. I’d rather see a fight card with worthy fights. Now, if Dana brought Don Frye back, then I’d be interested!!!

  23. bvrasp says:

    Yea your right Amir.. but back in the days when these guys were superstars, the paydays just werent there.. I think they should be allowed to cash in a bit for all the beating they took over the years. Even though the fights wont be as exciting, its still nice to see our old favorites get back in the octagon and throw down.

  24. bvrasp says:

    Hey Doc, im surprised you didnt put up a UFC 72 Recap, though it seemed like a crappy card, there were some great fights! Guida vs Griffin was a crazy fight man! I thought Guida won that fight personally..

  25. Dr J says:

    @BV,

    I was going to do a recap but never finished it. I actually just finished watching UFC 72 again for the second time. That Guida vs Griffin fight was excellent but the other fights were pretty lackluster. Maybe I’ll finish the recap maybe not. We’ll see

  26. richard says:

    DRJ
    forget 72 do a recap of strike force but im not liking that two of the fights i want to see arent gonna happen ninja couldnt get his license and krazy horse has legal problems but im still watching for buentello and baroni

  27. Dr J says:

    @Richard,

    As far as the latest I’ve heard, all the charges against Bennett were dropped and he was released from prison. I still haven’t heard any official work from Strikeforce, but I think the Bennett fight will still happen.

    I’m pissed about the Ninja Rua fight too, not sure why he didnt get the license. Would have loved to have seen that fight

  28. richard says:

    charles bennett is back hopefully for sure hes one of my favorite lightweights

  29. Amir says:

    So if anyone hasn’t noticed it looks like Bisping will face Matt Hamill and NOT Ken Shamrock @ UFC 75 in Sept. in London. Also on the card…

    Rampage vs. Henderson
    Cro Cop vs. Cheick Kongo

  30. richard says:

    anything will be better than ufc 72
