TUF 5 FinaleThe UFC wraps up season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter this Saturday night with a fight card headlined by the rematch between BJ Penn and Jens Pulver.

Jens Pulver Vs. BJ Penn – I’m very interested in this matchup and very intrigues to see how both fighters show up for this fight. Will BJ Penn be in shape and prepared to fight at 155lbs? Will Pulver have a solid gameplan and be able to work his boxing skills against Penn? Those are the questions. Either way, both these guys are going to be ready to brawl and I think there truly is a desire on the part of both fighters to truly hurt the other during this fight. The standup fighting should be entertaining as both guys are skilled on the feet, but ultimately I see BJ Penn taking Pulver to the mat and submitting him rather easily in the second round. Winner: BJ Penn

Manny Gamburyan Vs. Nathan Diaz – The “championship” fight of the TUF 5 season should be a very good matchup that really could go either way. I think Diaz is going to try to keep this fight on the feet for as long as possible but ultimately I don’t know how long he’ll be able to prevent Gamburyan’s takedowns. Truthfully, I don’t think Diaz really minds being on the ground and should be able to submit Manny on the mat. Winner: Nathan Diaz

Roger Huerta Vs. Doug Evans – Don’t really know what to say about this matchup other than the fact that Huerta should win by total annihilation. I’m not sure annihilation is technically a offically recognized MMA finishing move, but we just might see it here. Winner: Roger Huerta

Floyd Sword Vs. Thales LeitesWinner: Thales Leites
Brandon Melendez Vs. Joe LauzonWinner: Joe Lauzon
Andy Wang Vs. Cole MillerWinner: Cole Miller
Rob Emerson Vs. Gray MaynardWinner: Gray Maynard
Allen Berube Vs. Leonard GarciaWinner: Leonard Garcia
Brian Geraghty Vs. Matt WimanWinner: Matt Wiman

Ya i have to go with good ol pulver on this one. Because i like him so much as a person i think im being a little biased. But i do like his satand up and i believe if he can not be careless, dont rush, and fight a smart fight i think he may be abel to whether SOME of the onslaught that bj is SUPPOSEDLY going to bring. But Bj is a very aggressive and smart fighter so jens has it out for him. But i want jens to win although bj is a great fighter all around

  2. bvrasp says:

ya, i like all DR.J’s picks, but im going for Jens too! If BJ wins its because he trained.. and if he didnt train hard for Hughes, hes not gonna train for Pulver. Even if he doesnt train he can submit Jens, and everyone knows that, so in BJs own mind… does he NEED to train? hmmm..

  3. PATRICK says:

    HAD TO GO WITH JENS….

HIS EMBARASSMENT OF BEING KTFO BY JOE IS GONNA BUILD UP A KNOCKOUT

  4. R.J. St.Croix says:

yep i think Jens has this one. i’m not much of a BJ Penn fan so it might be a bit bias but i think Jens will k.o. BJ quick. i also like Doc’s pick for Manny vs. Nate for the same reason Nate is just too cool in any position it might go late into the fight but i think Nate will sub Manny sooner or later. i’m pretty excited to see Huerta fight again this kid knows how to put on a show.

  5. richard says:

i still wanted joe to be the ultimate fighter

  6. PATRICK says:

    RICHARD

I AGREE I WISH IT WERE JOE BUT HEY U LOSE WHEN SOMEONE LAYS ON YOU THE WHOLE FIGHT LIKE MANNY DID

  7. PATRICK says:

BJ SUCKS… HE FAT AND SLOW AND WILL GAS EARLY

  8. bvrasp says:

PATRICK!! STOP SAYING GUYS SUCK!! IT MAKES YOU SOUND LIKE AN IDIOT!! BJ DOESNT SUCK!!

  9. PATRICK says:

LOL I JUST SAID THAT TO GET A RISE OUTA YA BV….

NA HE IS GOOD BUT I HAVE TO GO WITH JENS

  10. MMAKansas says:

I think BJ Penn will win, guess I am the only one that believes he will take this fight. Yeah, I think he will win and I am in his corner all the way. Well I am the only one SO FAR on this post. I think he has the skill to do it, and he pretty much knows where he stands with fans right now after the Hughes loss so I think he will show up ready to rumble and win…. in the end I believe he is the superior fighter.

MMA PROPHET SAYS PENNNNNN! lol kidding

  11. MMAKansas says:

    Hmmm called it. lol.

  12. richard says:

last nights fight were awesome what about the gray maynard fight i lost some respect for him we could clearly see clearly see he was out but he tryed to deny it what a dumbazzz it was on tape dont get me wrong i think gray would of won but his dumbazzzz knocked himself out

  13. bvrasp says:

I think Gray should have got the win for that, just because you get knocked out for about 1 sec, that doesnt mean you lost the fight.. He snapped back into reality almost immediately and the dude tapped. Reminds me of the Hughes vs Newton fight, the difference is, hughes got the win.

How many times have you seen a guy get punched in the jaw and crumple to the floor, then wake up immediately and hes back in the fight? just cuz you got rocked doesnt mean its over.

Watch Grays right leg (the one touching the fence) after he DDT himself, hes still using his leg to keep his balance in the top position. If he was KO, it was for less than 1 second.

Watch it again guys.. i think he got robbed in that fight.. i mean, Emerson tapped!!!

  14. richard says:

    bvrasp
i disagree with u the guy was out man he even tries to go on top of emerson agian after they get him up he was stiff bro

  15. bvrasp says:

Rich i agree with you, he WAS out, but for a very short time man.. this is one of those weird situations.. You think it should have been a no contest? i mean, if you think Gray was totally out and there was no coming back for him, then Emerson TAPPED OUT to an unconscious opponent LOL, either way, i think Emerson lost the fight

  16. bvrasp says:

compare it to the Hughes-Newton fight where they were BOTH out, the ref had to intervene because it was a double KO. In this case Emerson QUIT, so i think that takes the confusion out of it. If Emerson didnt tap, i would probably agree to a no-contest, but the guy tapped out man, he didnt want no more.

  17. MMAKansas says:

WHERE ARE THE KUDOS FOR BJ? NOT ONE WORD FROM ALL THE SUCKERS WHO SAID HE WOULD LOSE, UHhUMMM THAT WOULD BE ALMOST EVERYONE ON THIS THREAD…..

  18. R.J. St.Croix says:

i will give BJ his dues he fought very well and looked impressive with his conditioning. i dont like that Jens got beat because i’m a Pulver fan and i dont really like Penn much but i cant deny he is the better fighter.

  19. MMAKansas says:

Thanks RJ.. hey you know.. I guess if we had bet T-shirts… lol.. I would have enough t-shirts for all the bums in L.A.. llool

  20. richard says:

    kansas
i think i was going for bj to

  21. bvrasp says:

lol Kansas, we kind of got caught up talking about the Gray vs emerson fiasco. What you think about how that all turned out?

About BJ, he was in great shape man! he never slowed down once he pushed the pace right to the end! besides that, he won the standup game too! then he controlled him on the ground. Very dominating performance, was a great fight to watch even though pulver couldnt pull off another amazing win. If they fought again the same thing would happen..

The REAL question is, will BJ stay at 155?? Hes a force to be reckoned with at 155, look what he did to Hughes! Sherk is a smaller less skilled version of Matt Hughes, BJ would dismantle him within 3 rounds in a title fight.

    is BJ back????

  22. richard says:

i think bj likes challenges i also think that bj knows he would probably beat sherk so i doubt it if hes back at 155

  23. bvrasp says:

I think BJ will stay at 155 if he knows whats good for him heh.. Why try and challenge yourself in a tougher division against bigger guys for less money? You have to be the champ to get paid man, im sure BJ knows that and BJ has never been the champ at 155. Lets see what BJ does, cuz he seems serious about fighting, talking about how thats all he knows how to do, and he wants to prove all his fans right. I think BJ is back, and it will be at 155

  24. Amir says:

I think BJ is on a high he shouldn’t be on right now. He’s always wanted to dominate every weight class, it’s not something new coming from him. That’s why they call him the Prodigy…they think he has endless talent. Now that he has a new training staff, he probably thinks he can do anything with his skills. I think he will be in for a rude awakening, since he only had to prove himself against an over-the-hill Jens. But BJ is one of these guys that can do no wrong in Dana White’s eyes…ex. Leben, TUF guys… I think BJ should fight Kenny Florian.

  25. R.J. St.Croix says:

i would really love to say BJ Penn is overrated but every time i think that he proves me wrong. i’m not saying i have turned into a BJ Penn fan but i gotta give him his dues he is a great fighter. i just dont like him for some reason.
