Today's Mixed Martial Arts News and Analysis Headquarters

As usual, the MMA news is pretty slow the day before a UFC Pay-Per-View. Looking at tomorrow nights UFC 74 fight card, I can’t help but wish the lineup was a little different. So, I give you my ideal UFC 74 fight card lineup.

Main Event

Randy Couture vs Gabriel Gonzaga
Georges St Pierre vs Josh Koscheck
Marcus Aurelio vs Clay Guida
Joe Stevenson vs Kurt Pellegrino
Alberto Crane vs Roger Huerta

Undercard

David Heath vs Renato Sobral
Frank Mir vs Antoni Hardonk
Kendall Grove vs Patrick Cote
Theles Leites vs Ryan Jensen

The UFC 74: Respect fight card is packed with good fights from top to bottom, so I give the UFC a little more leeway than normal on the fight lineup. Having 8 out of 9 solid fights is a hard thing to juggle.

I think the Marcus Aurelio vs Clay Guida could be one of the most exciting fights of the night. Guida’s fights are always top notch, and Marcus Aurelio is a former PrideFC fighter making his UFC debut that could make waves in the lightweight division. This fight should definitely be on the pay-per-view if at all possible.

Roger Huerta vs Alberto Crane also should be on the main card in my opinion. The UFC has done so much work and promoted Roger Huerta so much that it is odd not to see him on the main card. Alberto Crane is no slouch and will give Huerta a much tougher fight than most people expect. If Crane and get Huerta down and work his ground game, we may see his first UFC loss by way of submission.

Other than that, my lineup pretty much agrees with the current lineup. I don’t think the Kendall Grove vs Patrick Cote fight is that intriguing of a matchup. If Grove wins, it doesn’t do much for his career; if he loses, it won’t do much either.

Why the f–k is it so damn hard to find the video footage of the weigh-ins? I’ve looked all over the internet and as soon as they are officially over, it becomes impossible to find a replay of them.
