The Nevada State Athletic Commission has released the fighter payouts for this past Saturday’s UFC 74: Respect card.
- Randy Couture — $250,000
- Gabriel Gonzaga — $45,000
- Georges St. Pierre — $140,000
- Josh Koscheck — $10,000
- Roger Huerta — $34,000
- Alberto Crane — $4,000
- Joe Stevenson — $32,000
- Kurt Pellegrino — $8,000
- Patrick Cote — $24,000
- Kendall Grove — $12,000
- Renato “Babalu†Sobral — $50,000
- David Heath — $6,000
- Frank Mir — $66,000
- Antoni Hardonk — $8,000
- Thales Leites — $18,000
- Ryan Jensen — $4,000
- Clay Guida — $14,000
- Marcus Aurelio — $30,000
Again, these numbers do not include undisclosed bonuses. It’s nice to see that the UFC has once again raised their “newcomer” base pay from $3k to $4k. Also, as we noted earlier, half ($25,000) of Sobral’s pay is currently being withheld by the NSAC pending a ruling on his fight with David Heath.
I’m still waiting on the suspension list, but what we do know so far is this: Randy Couture suffered a broken arm in the third round of his fight with Gabriel Gonzaga, and Joe Stevenson suffered a broken jaw in the first round of his fight with Kurt Pellegrino.

Mir made some good money for losing all the time??? Randy had a broken arm, was it a fracture or actual break? Stevenson is the man, I had no idea he had a broken jaw, that must of been ****** to fight like that. But I guess that is what makes them great fighters and why I drink beer and Monday morning quarterback…….LOL. I wish these guys made more money
@Ozzay
Couture, 44, sustained the injury Saturday blocking a Gonzaga right high kick with his left forearm, cleanly separating the ulna bone with a “nightstick fracture,” a break common in law enforcement circles. The injury placed the UFC heavyweight champion’s arm in a splint for six weeks. The appendage will not need a cast.
“It’s not displaced, so the doctors think it will reattach in about a week and a half,” said Couture, who embarks on a South African adventure to shoot a leading role in major motion picture “The Scorpion King – The Akkadian” in nearly six weeks. It is believed the injury will not effect Couture’s shooting schedule
wow! for real man! i didnt realize those guys were injured, Especially for Joe Daddy, from round 1 to grind out a 3 round decision. You gotta be a tough SOB!! so thats why he sounded like that when he was talking to Rogan. We were joking about how he got a fat lip and he sounded like he was punchy, but he had a broken jaw.. DAAAAM thats your future LW champ right there. Way to tough it out Joe!
Oh ya, i also wanted to comment on Mirs pay.. for a guy whos lucky to be on the undercard fight, hes making a killing! he made more than double what stevenson got, and as far as im concerned hes the #1 contender! They should cut Mir loose and resign Yves Edwards man.. the guys a good fighter and he would definately work as an undercard fighter.
I remember that kick, watching it I was like damn that kick was hard and the way Randy blocked it he sure was lucky it did not break…LOL. I still did not think he was injured.wow what a bad MF, I would of been like.NO MAS, NO MAS!!! The card was great can’t wait till 75!
Mir is still on his old UFC contract. Thats how contracts work. You sign a deal and you live with the deal you sign. Thats why Mir makes good money and Rich gets paid crappy. Mir was a champ and Rich wasn’t hardly known. I just get so sick of armchair pundits who don’t get it. I’m sure if Mir is re-signed, it will be for far less money just like Rich will get paid alot better on his next deal.
I’m sure we will have this same discussion after Doc posts the payouts for the next UFC event.
Gatties, are you talking about Rich Franklin???
Those guys are some tough guys… man.. I sounded just like John Madden just now! lol!
i doubt it if rich is going to get more money if he cant beat silva
I’m sorry Gatties, I did not know you were a contract expert.LOL. Contracts have stipulations, I am just suprised that the UFC did not look for the what if’s…………soooooo the armchair pundits does understand contracts, I guess it would be interesting to see what Mir’s Contract looks like. Ohh man Gatties you sure look like chuck Liddel………..LOL…….what does his contract say?
ozzy
dont bother with gatties he just comes puts his two cents in and doesnt wait for a replie
Cool, thanks Rich. I was wondering what was up, he gotta little smart…so I had to “hit’em up!” (2-pac)…..LOL
By my calculations, they paid out $755 000.
The PPV taking was probably $20 million gross. After costs, Zuffa is taking home a whole heap of money. More of that booty should be shared with the fighters…
