International Fight LeagueThe International Fight League announced today that they will present the first live Mixed Martial Arts event to be aired in prime time on US broadcast television.

The IFL World Grand Prix semifinals will be held on November 3rd in Chicago, IL and be televised live on MyNetworkTV starting at 8pm EST. The hour long show will feature live fights from the semifinal matchups featuring the leagues top fighters from each weightclass. No other MMA promotion has every had a live broadcast in prime time and this is a huge milestone for the IFL and MMA in general.

IFL World Grand Prix semi-finals in Chicago on Saturday, November 3

NEW YORK, September 25, 2007 – The International Fight League (OTC.BB: IFLI), the world’s number one team-based professional mixed martial arts league, and broadcast partner MyNetworkTV announced that they will present live the World Grand Prix semi-finals from the Sears Centre in Chicago on Saturday, November 3 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT/MT). This is the first time a Mixed Martial arts fight will be carried live in prime time on broadcast television.

In making the announcement Gareb Shamus, IFL CEO and co-founder stated, “This is a historic announcement for the sport and another step forward for our brand, our world class athletes and our fans and business partners. MyNetworkTV has been a great partner for us, and we are very excited to again bring the sport live on prime time and expose the new stars of MMA to the widest audience possible.”

Greg Meidel, president of MyNetworkTV added, “We are excited to showcase this event and give viewers the opportunity to see MMA action unfold live on broadcast television.”

The semifinals will feature multiple fights including two long-awaited rematches: Undefeated lightweight Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki (London, Ontario) meeting Bart “Bartimus” Palaszewski (Chicago) and undefeated heavyweight Ben “The North Star” Rothwell (Milwaukee, WI) meeting Roy “Big Country” Nelson (Las Vegas).

    The event is happening on November 3rd. Chris is also my favorite IFL fighter the kid’s tough as hell and has great skill for his age. Good to see the IFL is going to start showing live shows. It kinda took the lustre off the fights already knowing who won.
