Sean Sherk’s Suspension ReducedSean Sherk and Kazuhiro Nakamura both went before the California State Athletic Commission today to have the final hearing in their drug-suspension cases.

Nakamura’s appeal was completely denied and his 90-day suspension and fine of $500 were upheld by the commission.

UFC lightweight champion, Sean Sherk’s suspension was reduced from a full year to six months by the commission. Sherk last fought on July 7 of this year against Hermes France. The suspension reduction of six months means that Sherk will be eligible to fight again after January 7, 2008.

I’ll have more details as they become available.

Great. So Franca admits his mistake and and gets a year. Sherk pulls a Barry Bonds/Floyd Landis and get more leniency than Franca. what a crock. I have no respect for liars and cheaters.

    I couldn’t even understand that Patrick…. :)

It doesn’t matter…. there will be an interim title holder, whether that be Penn or Stevenson, and I believe that Sherk will have to tone his “veiled usage” down a bit after this to avoid future suspensions, so in the end, he will have to fight Stevenson or Penn, if its Stevenson, I don’t know, but if its Penn, gotta go with Penn on that one, I think B.J. will submit or out strike Sherk in the end and hold the belt so either way, Sherk has a tough road to haul, but i agree with Steve, he shouldn’t have gotten so much leniency ….

Joe Daddy has the BJJ to beat Sherk, the only problem is the conditioning, Joe has gassed in his past fights and hes never had to go 5 rounds. Sherk has amazing conditioning (news flash: hes a doper) and he could win that fight if he gets the top position and forces a decision, i dont think he can finish Joe, but its gonna be a tough fight for both guys.

If its BJ, hands down BJ all the way. He has the better striking and reach, and on the ground BJ has shown resilience against stronger guys than Sherk (Hughes) and is still very dangerous from his back. I think BJ can finish Sherk, especially if he stops Joe Daddy but theyre making it hard for BJ. Hes fighting the best guys in the division and working his way to the title, no free rides for BJ (unlike Serra).

My thoughts about the Sherk Decision by the CSAC, theyre a bunch of idiots. Their decision was to cut his punishment in half? wtf?? so did he take roids or not? they obviously dont know, but they should make a decision one way or the other. Either say, it came up on the results, so we have no choice but to punish him, or, Theres no concrete evidence to say if he was doping so the charges are dropped.

What are they saying by cutting his punishment in half?? what does that even mean? this whole thing has been very frustrating for us fans, imagine how Sherk and the UFC feel about it, and BJ and everyone else in th LW division too.

The CSAC really dropped the ball on this one, in my opinion these guys dont know what the hell theyre doing and yet they have this almighty authority over everyone. All they had to do was say guilty and they would have saved alot of face, now they look like a pack of fools.

    BV
POLITICS BRO… THEY COULD CARE LESS TO MAKE IT A YEAR OR SIX MONTHS… STATE JUST WANTS THAT 2500 BUCKS IN MY OPINION..JUST WANTED THE CASH

  9. steve says:

Hilarious. After the Penn/Stevenson fight, the winner is going to need nme off the re-cuperate and train to fight Sherk. So his ( sean the ‘roid sherk) effective suspension will be longer than the the 6 months

speak Yoda! i think your right on just about everything you said.

  11. MAD says:

This really makes the Interim title look even more foolish. With Joe and BJ fighting next month Sherk will have another few months to train before facing either of them. It kinda screws guys like Guida and Huerta because they don’t have a chance to fight for the title any time soon because of the situation. I agree the CSAC should have made a distinct choice. If they agreed he was guilty then he should have got the full year. If they thought he was not guilty they should have dropped the case all together. I hope BJ beats Joe then takes the real title from roid sherk.
