IFL2008Logo.jpg

The International Fight League continues to announce new changes for their upcoming 2008 season. The latest changes are simply cosmetic as the league has announced a new logo and branding for the new year.

In 2008, the IFL will be doing away with their team-based format and instead focus more on the individual fighters and championship belts in each weightclass. As a result, the IFL also announced they will be doing away with all the prior team logos and will instead use individual branding for each of the new “fight camps” instead. Current fight camps include Miletich Fighting Systems, Xtreme Couture and the Renzo Gracie Academy.

In my opinion, these are small but good, important moves for the IFL. The team-based concept just doesn’t work in mixed martial arts and it’s good that the IFL has recognized this fact and changed their business model accordingly. It shows that they are in the game for the long haul and willing to do what it takes to succeed.

its good for the sport to have these new org. around and trying to do well, but its also good that you dont care much about because most of the time for every UFC fan that hates IFL there is an IFL fan that hates UFC. we all know thats not the case right now because the IFL is not even close to that big yet but hopefully it gets there someday.

i really like the fight camp idea they are doing now. about a week before UFC79 i watched a show on the fight channel, i cant remember what it was called but it was kind of a round table discussion on MMA and one of the guests was Big John, when they asked what MMA org. do you see dying in a year or less and BJM says IFL and when they asked how can it be saved and BJM says they need to drop the whole city team format and goto fight camp teams. was Big John giving us some insider info or making a very good guess, would it blow your mind if he started working for the IFL.

Formats and junk are all fine and dandy, but when it comes to MMA organizations only one thing matters. BIG NAME TALENT. You know it and I know it..

Even if the was a brand new company called **** in the dirt fighting championship, if they had one good fight on the card that we wanted to see, we would watch it.

They seem intent to make us watch fights between guys who we are not really interested in seeing. No matter how many bells and whistles you add or how cool your logo is, the end result is a fight card.

Thats why Pride was so popular, they had the BIG NAME FIGHTERS, all the special effects and event lights and lasers were nice, but thats not why people liked Pride…

i think after a few of the IFLs better fighters go on to bigger and better things people will start to notice that yeah maybe there is some good fighters there worth watching.

Ohhh guys.. hey!… Lot’s going on .. sorry haven’t been around… works been hectic and I have been dealing with family stuff.. Holidays and stuff… yeah whats after Liddell vs Silva, I gotta agree RJ I haven’t made much time lately to post, but will be back in full swing in February, I think that Penn pretty much did what i said, and I enjoyed watching him dominate from START to FINISH… BJ will be the man of the hour in 2008 I think he will pull a Dan Henderson and will call Matt Hughes out to finish the trilogy with him, one last hurrah type thing with Matt and I think Matt will lose, just me… so thats my ONE prediction for 08 and I think the Wandy will win his next fight, no doubt he needs to head back to Chuteboxe and get a little nasty and take some chances with his aggression level… as for Rich… dunno.. but I am here… later guys..

  8. PATRICK says:

  9. MMAKansas says:
